When I contacted Best Buy support. The person at the other end could not be of any sort of help and switch me to another number whereupon the individual at the other wanted instead to make me believe that my mack was compromised and wanted me to download an app that indeed would have caused more problems and compromised my files.

If you computer had performance issues prior to installation, it's likely that Geek Squad transferred you to Trend Micro's technical support team, who recommended installing Housecall, a free app developed by Trend Micro to remove existing dangers from a computer before installing the security protection software.
