The story line and plot was a little lame. the acting was ok, but did not feel very convincing as these characters .

Ben Stiller is some what funny but this movie that is filled with big stars seems to fall flat throughout.

I didn't like this movie but my boyfriend thought it was funny. It just depends on your sense of humor.

This is the director's cut and not the movie shown in theaters. It has a longer run time but no new jokes. Ruins a great film.

Should of never bought it, did not show what it was reallly like in Vietnam, made fun of what a bad situation.

Tropic Thunder is a comedy that will offend a lot of people. In fact, it'll most likely offend everyone at least a little. Which is what makes it great. It's the story of a crew that's shooting a war movie called Tropic Thunder, based off a book written by war hero Four-Leaf Tayback (Nick Nolte, doing the best Nick Nolte parody I've ever seen) who lost his hands in combat. Tugg Speedman (Ben Stiller, who also directed) plays Tayback in the movie. He's a washed-up action star who's one flop away from being done forever. Then there's Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr.), an Australian method actor who undergoes a skin pigmentation procedure to play the platoon's African-American Sergeant, Lincoln Osiris. Finally, there's Jeff Portnoy (Jack Black at his funniest since School of Rock), a comedian who's sick of doing toilet humor and has an unfortunate drug addiction. There's a bunch of great supporting characters, including Danny McBride and Matthew McConaughey, but the real scene-stealer is Tom Cruise. I won't give away his role, for those who have yet to see it, but it's absolutely brilliant. Downey Jr. is also incredible. His mockery of how far an actor will go for a role is the most memorable thing about this very funny film. Comedy is the most relative of genres, so naturaly some will not like this film. All I can say is that I saw it thrice in theaters and laughed every time. This is good stuff.

Or get canceled by the cancel mob. It is hilarious.

I enjoyed the movies so much at the theater, that I am going to purchase the DVD for Christmas. I loved Robert Downey Jr the best. If you are offended because this movie is graphic...just realize that this is a rated R movie. This rating does not sugar coat anything. It is basically a comedy, in a war setting. Its about actors filming a movie about war. Everything does not go as planned, and thats where it goes crazy. Take a movie for what it is. A comedy with action. This will not win a Academy Award. You will just have fun, be entertained, if thats your thing. A movie like this is simply an escape for you. Go ahead an enjoy. Watch a preview of this movie to get a taste of what you see when you buy the DVD.

This is a dang funny movie! I saw it on television and liked it enough to go pick it up on blu-ray. Its a lot funnier uncensored! Robert Downey JR. steals the show, i was laughing everytime his character had any dialog in the film, P.S. I dont really like Robert Downey Jr films. For anyone that likes Stiller,Black,Downey JR, or just a good comedy, I would say go pick this movie up. Blu-Ray looks pretty good especially the action scenes. The film is kinda slow if you haven't seen it, but it makes up for it, just give it a chance and watch it all the way through.

Awesome movie. When you have Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., and Jack Black as the main characters in a film, you're gonna get a lot of personalities to set up an interesting plot. Plus you have guys like Matthew McCoughnahey, Tom Cruise, Nick Nolte, and others to name a few player smaller roles, there's so much going on in the movie. It's a great movie to see if you're not overly critical as some self-proclaimed movie critics get. If you're goal is to enjoy a fun, witty comedy with a lot of comedic personalities, then this is a MUST WATCH.

This movie was funny and very smart. All of the actors in this movie did an outstanding job and I laughed the whole way through it. Downey steals the show here with his portrayal of the hippest brother ever to grace the screen: "I'm the dude playing the dude disguised as another dude."

I saw this movie in the theater, and thought it was good, but wasn't sure if I would pick it up on DVD. Got it as a Christmas gift. Watched it again and noticed some lines that I missed in the theater. Long story short I have now watched this movie probably 10 times, and love it. There is some great lines that you have to watch several times to pick up. Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr. steal this movie. Personally Ben Stiller was my least favorite in this movie. I would recommend this to anyone!

This movie is incredibly funny. I mean, it's got Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and RDJ in it for crying out loud. And Ben Stiller directed it so there's also that. If you like a well-written, well-acted and well-directed slightly dark comedy, this is the movie for you.

This movie is completely over the top, that's what makes it so funny. It is ridiculous and the story line is crazy, but is well done. The comedy is not for the uptight movie watcher (as reviews below). If you can relax and watch a good comedy without looking for the politically correct jokes, you will love it. My favorite comedy this year.

Ben Stiller & Jack Black's role really did not cut it for me, but the other cast were great and kept the movie somewhat interesting. Suprisingly Tom Cruise really stole the show with his over the top performance. Overall I enjoyed it and it looks great on Blu-ray. The other two comments that were posted with poor ratings need to go to grammar school.

This was a great movie it had great camoes in it like tom cruise who was reallt funny suprisingly! Danny Mcbride is great in it too, no suprise there! This movie is non stop laughs. If you dont like violence then i dont reccomend it! IT IS FULL OF LAUGHS!

It seems that you either love this movie or hate it. This movie is chocked full of humor that a lot of people will find offensive. To me, I found this movie apologetically hilarious! If you are a fan of offensive humor, then you will love this movie. It is as simple as that.

Some people might think it is the funniest movie ever, some might find it offensive. I thought it was ok the first time I watched it but not great. However, the more I watched it the funnier it got. If for nothing more than to watch Robert Downey performance, is this BuRay worth it.
