not worth it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So i have always heard great reviews about Turtle beach so I thought I would give them a try. Took them out of the box, read the directions to hook them up and fired up my 360. everything was good until the game started (Madden 15 and Black Ops 2). Every time the controller vibrated, i would get a loud static noise in the headphones. I tried playing with the amp and wires with no luck. I tired another controller and the same thing kept on happening. Was really let down, the sound was great when it wasn't static, but needless to say, they will be going back today...

PC Gaming Headset as well!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this headset three years ago because most of the decent, non-USB-only PC gaming headsets were much more expensive. It's been very durable until recently. The pivot for the right earphone finally snapped. This headset has lasted longer than the last four headsets I've owned, including two from Razer. I'm planning on picking up a new one (or two) tomorrow!

Nice upgrade over the x11
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome the new color scheme is great , they feel lighter and more comfortable the 50mm speakers are a nice upgrade and with the new bass boost feature it feels like your in the freakin battle field ..... I suggest you try them and get the dss module it makes it even better ..... Gun fire sounds so much more realistic abd claymores and nube tubes sound amazing when exploding ....... There is so much bass i have to keep it at around 30% : )

Ok kinda headset
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This headset is really exspensive and doesn't last very long. I'v bought it twice. The first set lasted me about 1-1 1/2 years. My second one lasted about 2 months. Besides the terrible plastic on the sides it has great sound quality, great mic. The mic does pic up more background the older it gets. So dont use it when your parents are yelling across the house.

Turtle Beaches Are a Whole New Way to Video Games
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saved up a recent paycheck and I picked up these Turtle Beaches with the adapter. I have a couple of friends who have the X12's and they advised me to get them. I have had a wired mic for about a year now and the sound quality is so poor on them. I invested in Turtle Beaches and I am quite impressed! You can have your t.v.'s volume on 0 and still hear your game with 5.1 surround sound. It even helps me when i play FPS games. I no longer have to keep my parents up with my loud t.v. I gave the comfort a 4 since i have ear piercings and it sort of hurts my ears after a while. The mic is even really sensitive. I highly advise anyone who purchases these to get the replacement plan that is about $12 for 2 years. Why waste your money on a wireless mic for $49.99? Spend the extra $10 on Turtle Beaches!

GREAT HEADSET
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After using my Turtle Beach X12's for a couple of weeks I have fallen in love with them. They are very comfortable and have amazing sound. Some of the cons however are that they have a long chord that goes to your tv and 360 if you want to run HDMI and one thing they forget to tell you is if you want to run HDMI hookup you have to go buy another audio adapter so your HDMI cable will fit. Other than these two minor cons this headset is flawless and is very well built. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the additional $20 purchase and insanely long chord.

great value, sound is clear on both sides
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this on sale for $40. great value. Replaced the xbox wireless headset, it is like 2 different worlds. my friend can't hear me well on the Xbox wireless headset. It cuts off the voice very fast if you dont speak in fast. Also my friend can't hear the first word I say too. But this Headset, everyone can hear very clear even I speak very low. This is great. The USB cable is just for the power, I dont even need to plug it in my xbox. I just plug in my laptop's usb port for the power. Only Con is it is kinda tight? but for this kind of headset, you expect that.

Tired of these breaking
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have bought 3 sets of X12 headsets for my son this year. I bought the warranty at another store and will now only by from best buy as you can bring them back to the store, and you will bring them back. On all the sets we have bought the mic goes out within a month. The sound is fine. The cables are super long and in the way. I won't spend another penny on Turtle beach headsets.

Awesome headset for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a previous user of a Turtle Beach X11 headset, I have to say these are improved enormously. The biggest difference between these (X12) and the X11's are the bass. I'm not sure if it's the increase from 40mm to 50mm speakers, or simply the addition of a bass booster, but these sound great. I took one bar off of the design because the microphone boom is pretty stiff compared to the X11's, but other than that they work phenomenal if you're gaming on a budget. I'd also like to note that I'm using the DSS Sound Processor, but have been since I bought my X11's so it shouldn't affect this review.

Intro level Headset
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you just want a basic headset that won't sound like complete garbage then these are fine. Sound quality is 4/10. very imbalanced sound, and not pleasing Build quality is 7/10 Comfort 9/10 Mic is fine, but with the headphones being open back, there is quite a lot of bleed through to the mic. If you want something that sounds good, look elsewhere, but the utility of the X12 isn't bad.

My x12 review
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these to replace my broken x11's because the wire was chewed through. they're almost identical to the x11's in every way, differeneces are they're black, they have 50mm drivers(speakers), the inline was changed to include a bass boost, and the padding they used is not as good. the static, hum, or interference from them being USB powered has been reduced so they're much cleaner when it comes to producing only low volume sounds. the bass boost feature is actually quite unneeded as the bass is perfect when its turned all the way down, but for those who like bass you can turn it up pretty high. now the ear padding... when wearing these x12's the ear padding is more sound absorbant, they block out sounds from around you much better than the x11's so you can hear more from the headset than you can around you. HOWEVER the padding is thinner and much firmer than the x11's and I found them very uncomfortable to wear after more than an hour of having them on. because they're so much like the x11's the ear padding from the old broken ones fit perfectly on the x12's. I do ear outside of the headset more which is a downside, the upside is I can wear these 3+ hours comfortably. because of the padding issue I drop the overall rating by 1, because of the feature where you can hear yourself in your mic when its not muted I drop the rating another 1. I use this headset for PC gaming and the microphone issue is quite annoying, even though they've reduced the talkback feature with the x12's it is still there. I always wondered why they consider this a feature?

Misleading. ONLY DOES VOICE CHAT NOT GAME SOUND!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The description of these headphones implies they can do both voice chat AND GAME SONND. This is not true. These can only do voice chat on the xbox 360. No game sound. So basically you are buying a huge headset that does on simple function...voice chat. Wth??? This should be made very clear in the description. Now for the actual function. They are fairly comfortable, but not great. Bery difficult to deal with the insnae amount of wiring and connections. You plug one of the cables that comes with it into the inline control of the headset and the other end into the controller. Then you plug the USB connection of the headset into the back of your 360. Now you haventhe ability to simply chat. The game sounds will still come through the tv. Sk you will never even use the inline control for game sounds, bass boost. Only the chat colume and mute. The USB PLUG is simply to power the headset. NOW, if you have the charger plugged in firmthe controller at the same time, you will hear a BERY LOUD AND ANNOYING "HHHUUUUMMMMMMM" sound or buzzing sound. Unbearable, it only goes away if you unplug the controller charger cord. Now, if you have these headphones on for chat, since they muffle outside noise and you cant get game sound, you dont hear important game sounds very well like footsteps. Very poor design and misleading advertsising. I'm sure you need some $20 adapter to get game sound or something, but that is BS. I do not recommend. There are better options out there.

Helped me not die multiple times in COD
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got these for 40 on black friday and it was such a great buy. For 2 years I used the regular xbox headset and I decided to get these since it was 40 bucks and I was amazed the sound quality is great and I love the control for game volume, chat volume, and bass. I gave comfort 4 stars cuz I have a big head and it doesnt feel secure even with my big head and sometimes the cushion presses against the side of my head where after every game i would have to take it off. Other than that it was a great buy fo my first pair of turtlebeach.

Wow incredible Sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow these are my first pair of gaming headphones and so far very impress. I was looking to buy a pair mostly for gaming and didn't want to spend over 100 on headphones and after reading so many good reviews on these I decided to give them a try. They work incredibly the sound is rich and the mic works just fine. If your looking for a good set of headphones don't think twice these work great. Just one con is that if you have an older Xbox 360 your gonna need the audio av cable.

Boom!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What's not to love about this, Sound blasting in your ear, you control the game volume, chat volume, and base boost at your finger tips. Drowns out everything you don't want to hear from the outside and lets you focus on your game. There is a lot of cord that comes with this, but i suppose it's so you can sit as far from the TV as you'd like or maybe so you can run to the fridge to grab a drink without missing any convo, just be careful to not get it tangled. ENJOY!

Great sound and functionality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A great alternative to "name" brand headphones for gaming and computer use. Product works flawlessly and produces dynamic and true sound without having to step up an additional $50-$100 dollars for a similar product. Their other less expensive X-11 is value priced and is basic and is equivilent to most entry-level products available for $20-$30. This product, the X-12, is as good or better than Sony and other mid-range products at a much less cost. Would recommend.

On Top For The Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off let me say that I am reviewing these based on their price range but I will say that they perform better than some above them in price. You WILL NOT find a better headset for the price, you simply will not. I have tried most of the headsets in this price range and these are above them all in sound and comfort. The only other headset I think is close is the Sharkoon XP Static, but it only has 40mm drivers and there is a difference in bass and immersing feel. Let me also explain why these sound better, I just recently tried the Tritton Detonators and I was really excited because they looked so sweet and they were really hyped at E3 but they didn't add up so they went back, I don't think they used a quality driver (speaker) in the Detonator. It's the opposite for the Turtle Beach X12's, they have to use the best drivers they can get their hands on because even the X11's with the 40mm driver sound better than Tritton's 50 mm. That makes a huge difference in your sound, you have to use quality drivers, it's like buying a 12" sub from KMart and then you go online and buy a 10" Rockford Fosgate power series sub, the 10" will absolutly destroy the cheap 12" you got from KMart. So a quality driver makes all the difference, remember that. The sound from the X12's are very accurate and filling. They are also very comfortable, I would like to see them use a micro swede cover on the ear cuffs instead of the soft mesh, but they are still fairly comfortable. Alot of people get hung up on "Man those look so cool, I think they look cooler than these X12's" if your all about looking cool your going to miss out on sound, but the X12's imo do look good. Oh and the cord issue people talk about, quit saying it's too long, not everyone sits 6 inches from their TV some people play on a larger TV and like to sit and chill on their couch, this let's them do that and be comfortable any distance. If the cord is to long just wrap up the slack and bread tie it, this is not a con. Bottom Line...... It doesn't get any better than this for less than 60 bucks, I have done the research for you, I hope this helps.

Best quality gaming headset for price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have gone through about 8 different gaming headsets in my gaming career, from Logitechs to Gamecoms, and by far, this is the best headset I have owned. I've had it now for over a year and haven't had any issues with my mic not being loud enough, or one side of the headset dying out. They are super comfortable and durable, and the sound quality is great. No reason you shouldn't get a Turtle Beach for gaming on any system.

Decent, But Not For Me
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was excited to get this headset, but it wasn't for me after trying them out. First, the headset did not feel stable on my head. Every time I would move, it felt like the headset was going to fall off. Like another review said, the fabric used for the earcups makes your ears extremely warm after extended use. I bought these because the sound quality was supposed to be good. When playing BF3, I could not hear footsteps like can be heard on the Tritton AX180. I never was able to find a good balance between bass boost, game volume, and chat volume. I took these back and got the AX180's and love them. They feel much more solid and secure than the x12's, sound volume seems more balanced, and the materials for the earcups are much more comfortable. The X12's may be good for some people, but they did not work for me!
