No I should not need it for my elite Xbox one controller ; however there was a glitch and my mic would not work properly. After purchasing this product my headset is now working again!

After cussing and questioning how the dog found it- I went on Best Buy's app and ordered a new one. All better.

Great attachment for headphones

Great for FPS games, important audio like enemy footsteps, doors opening/closing, even enemy reloading is elevated.
