Great Sound and Features, Bad Mic

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Stealth 700 headset has a wealth of features that make it a great headset for a wide number of scenarios. There's just one problem... The mic sound is quite bad, regardless of eq setting applied.
Setup was less than straightforward. The headset required a firmware update out of the box, and uses the mobile app to facilitate this. Multiple times trying to connect lead to a failure in the app finding the headset. Only after initiating the connection in the app, turning off the headset, and turning it back on was I able to successfully connect. After that, it was a matter of plugging both USB sticks in and letting it update.
Once updated, I realized just how truly stacked the 700 is with features. As mentioned, the headset has Bluetooth, allowing you to connect to a smartphone, along with two USB connectors, allowing you to also connect to a PC and ANOTHER device as well. What I didn't realize is that you can be connected to one of the USB sources (say a PC playing call of duty) and your phone via Bluetooth simultaneously, say to listen to music. The headset has volume wheels for both sources, allowing you to finely tune how loud each is. This feature is fantastic and could be highly useful for one additional reason beyond playing and listening to music: console players that want to use discord. This could be a huge feature for some players that have long wanted to use discord but couldn't because of lack of console support. Overall, the source switching has worked flawlessly for me. As mentioned, using Bluetooth has been great, and switching between USB sources has been painless. All of this, of course, in a completely wireless package, giving you freedom to roam while gaming if needed.
Audio quality is great with this headset. The app has a number of predefined EQ curves, some of which are ok, some of which are pretty unusable, but you can also set your own EQ curves as well. The flexibility in this regard is awesome. What's not so awesome is the sound quality of the mic. Immediately upon jumping online with my friends, they said "what's wrong with your mic?" Even after tweaking EQ settings, changing to the various predefined curves, the sound quality hasn't improved substantially. It's hard to describe the sound, other than robotic, and with too much reverb, which makes your voice sound hollow. This was noticed both in discord and in call of dutys in game chat, and also with the latest software update.
Overall, this is close to being a perfect gaming headset. Comfort is great, even after hours of use, and the added features really make the 700 stand out from the crowd. Unfortunately, it is completely held back because of a subpar sounding microphone. Perhaps my unit is faulty, which would make sense, because every other aspect of this headset is phenomenal.

Can hear everything - leg up on competition

The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 gaming headphones offer a solid blend of premium features, comfort, and sound quality, making them a strong contender for gamers seeking a wireless audio solution. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect.
Design and Comfort:
The Stealth 700’s build is sleek and durable, with a matte finish that gives it a modern, understated look. The earcups are generously padded with memory foam, wrapped in synthetic leather, ensuring a snug fit over long gaming sessions. While they may feel a bit bulky for some, the cushioning is soft and comfortable. The ProSpecs™ Glasses Relief System, which reduces pressure on glasses, is a thoughtful addition for those who wear glasses, making extended wear even more comfortable.
Audio Quality:
One of the Stealth 700’s standout features is its DTS Headphone:X 7.1 surround sound, delivering an immersive audio experience. In competitive shooters, you can clearly hear footsteps, environmental cues, and other positional sounds, giving you a distinct advantage. The soundscape is well-balanced, with strong bass and crisp highs, though mid-tones can sometimes feel slightly overshadowed. The headset’s Superhuman Hearing mode enhances softer in-game sounds, like enemy movements, which can make a big difference in competitive play.
Wireless Performance:
The Stealth 700 utilizes Bluetooth and Turtle Beach’s proprietary 2.4GHz wireless connection for solid, lag-free performance. The headset boasts around 20 hours of battery life per charge, which is competitive, though some other headsets in its class offer a bit more. Bluetooth functionality also allows for multi-tasking, so you can answer calls or listen to music while gaming.
Mic and Chat Features:
The flip-to-mute microphone is a convenient feature, and the mic itself delivers clear voice communication. Turtle Beach’s Active Noise-Cancellation works well to block out background sounds, keeping you focused on the game. The mic monitoring feature lets you hear your own voice in real-time, so you’re not shouting into the mic, a small but effective touch that many gamers appreciate.
Build Quality:
While the headset’s materials are sturdy, the plastic construction might not feel as premium as some competitors in the same price range. However, the trade-off here is the lightweight feel, which adds to its comfort factor during long sessions.
Software Integration:
The Turtle Beach Audio Hub app allows for firmware updates and customization of audio presets, giving you control over your sound profile and other headset settings. While the app could be more intuitive, it’s functional and gets the job done.
Conclusion:
Overall, the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 offers an excellent mix of comfort, sound quality, and gaming-focused features, especially for those who prioritize wireless performance. Its key strengths are its surround sound capabilities, decent wireless range, and comfort during extended sessions. Though the plastic build and battery life could be improved, these headphones still offer solid value for gamers, particularly those on consoles like the Xbox or PlayStation.

The Stealth 700 Gen 3 boasts 60mm Dual Eclipse Drivers, and they deliver rich and clear audio. They're a little more bassy than most other headsets, but they never sound muddles, and whether you’re playing an action-packed game or listening to music, the sound quality is exceptional. Explosions have a satisfying punch, and dialogue remains distinct and clear.
The microphone doesn't particularly stand out, but that's a good thing. No one complains about being able to hear me. A nice feature is you can mix the mic output to your headset speakers, so you can hear yourself speak, balancing the sound out. For me, it's weird and a bit distracting when I can't hear my own voice while using headphones.
This headset is obviously designed with comfort in mind. The ProSpecs™ Glasses Relief System ensures that even glasses wearers can enjoy long gaming sessions without discomfort. The headband is robust, and the ear cushions, though slightly firmer than previous models, provide a very comfortable fit. They have less tension than the previous version so it doesn't clamp on your head tightly, but for me they are snug enough they don't move around. I actually forget I am wearing headphones.
One of the standout features is the CrossPlay capability, which allows seamless switching between different devices. With two USB-A dongles included, you can easily switch from your PC to your PlayStation or with the press of a button. This makes it incredibly versatile for multi-platform gamers. It also has simultaneous Bluetooth, so you can have your phone connected for calls or music -- a feature not found in many of its competitors.
The Stealth 700 Gen 3 offers an impressive 80-hour battery life, ensuring you won’t need to charge it often. This is a significant improvement over many other headsets in the market. I haven't ran them all the way down, but after about a week of Space Marine 2 gaming sessions, they are at 62%, so I have no reason not to believe the advertised 80-hour battery life.
The build quality is solid, with a sleek design that feels premium. However, some users might find the plasticky feel a bit underwhelming compared to other high-end headsets.
Overall, the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 3 is a top-tier gaming headset that excels in sound quality, comfort, and connectivity. The only drawbaks I observers were a flimsy charging cable and lack of a carrying case that comes with some of the other headsets in the mid to upper tier gaming headsets. These minor drawbacks have little impact as the features and performance make Stealth 700 Gen 3 a compelling choice for serious gamers.
I think these just became my favorite headsets...

My son absolutely loves these headsets! The sound is very clear on both ends. He can hear people very clearly and vice versa. He loves that he can use the 2 usb adapters it came with to connect to two devices at the same time. I will say that they work beautifully when connected together. There is no delay in sound or limited use because two devices are connected. He can play games on his computer/ps5 while listening to music and both sounds come in clearly. These headsets are for computer gaming, but can also be connected to the ps5. From the open box he was able to use his headsets for about a week before having to charge them and they are still going strong without having to charge them again. We have had them for over 2 weeks and we have only had to charge it once and it only took about an hour to charge. The microphone sound is very clear according to my son’s friends who play with him online. The headsets are very comfortable to wear and go around the ears and not on the ears so you can wear them comfortably for a long time. My son uses them daily after homework and a little longer on the weekends we are home and he loves them. I would def recommend these headsets.

Great new Gaming Option from Turtle Beach

Turtle Beach's newest gaming lineup is here in the form of the Stealth 700 Gen 3 Wireless Headset. Packaging is simple to undo and get everything out. Headset, 2-USB A Dongles, USB A-C charging cable. Being able to have two dongles included to have two different devices connected such as PC and Xbox is super handy.
Bluetooth connectivity and you can have both dongle and Bluetooth mixed together which can be handing while gaming and taking a phone call.
Comfort is really good, flip up mic to mute both is handy and sounded great on all the voice comm's I tested with gaming. Also sounded great on phone calls when the headset was connected to my phone over bluetooth.
The Swarm app makes updating the firmware easy and the amount of customization is incredible with even the ability to assign macros to the headset. I do recommend updating the firmware right away but other than that I only had very positive experiences with the headset.
Battery life is great 18ish hours of battery life on a single charge, hot swappable batteries would have been a nice feature but you rarely need to charge this with such great battery life.
Would recommend this as a great gaming wireless headset.

Turtle Beach - Stealth™ 700 Gen 3 Wireless Gaming Headset for PC – Black
Overall, the headset is well-built. Unlike some, the Stealth 700 offers substantial metal reinforcement in the headband and earcup supports so these more stressed areas of the headset should last a very long time.
While the Stealth 700 is not a lightweight headset, it conforms to the contours of your head very well with good support so that you don’t think of them as heavy during use. The earcups are well cushioned and were comfortable during my use playing games. I do wear glasses while playing and found the well-cushioned earcups didn’t press against my head causing discomfort, which is a nice feature if you wear glasses.
My experience with the input and output sound was very good. The large drivers for output produce clear, strong sound so even at 30% the sound is comfortable yet clear. If needed, you can really crank up the sound to very uncomfortable levels, yet I didn’t notice any distortion when trying this. While the mic provides good input, the boom moves from its default position toward your mouth only slightly. I realize that there is a design balance here because getting the mic too close to your mouth can cause sound problems, but I feel that the mic adjustment range should be greater for the operator to decide how close they want the mic to their mouth.
You can set your Stealth 700 headset via two ways – it comes with dual USB wireless transmitters (for two devices) and it also offers BT connection for two devices – there’s a button on the left earcup that you push to connect to one device or the other. Since I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with BT, I set mine up using the USB wireless 2.4Ghz dongle with my PC. It works great, as I’m sure the BT does too; however, I haven’t tried using BT yet. Of course, you can use the wireless dongle and the BT together if you want to hear your game audio while having some music from a second device or chat with friends online. I do find that when I shut down my headset, my sound setting on my PC remains set for the Stealth 700 headset, so I must manually set my PC back to its speakers when not using the headset. With my earbuds, if I shut them down after listening to a video or something on my PC, it resets automatically to my PC speakers. I don’t know if this is a feature that happens when connected by BT or not. Because of my experience connecting my earbuds through BT on my PC, I expected the same would happen when I shut down the Stealth 700 headset while being connected wirelessly through the USB dongle, but it doesn’t reset to my PC speakers so, perhaps, the automatic switching is a feature offered through BT – I’ll have to wait and see.
There are various control buttons and sound wheel on the left earcup and other buttons/sound wheel on the right earcup for BT – if you’re listening to two different sound sources having two separate sound wheels is quite useful. I found using the button for Superhuman Hearing is a bit finicky, but you can adjust it through the software.
The software I’m referring to is Swarm 2, which you can place on your PC or other device. Swarm 2 allows you to make many different adjustments so you can get your sound just the way you like it. One thing I would find useful is if when hovering your mouse over the setting name that it would give you a popup window of exactly what the control is for and its use to better help you set things up without going to other sources to try and figure out whether that control needs adjusting and for what end. The limited printed material that came in the box didn’t provide this information either.
I can’t say whether the battery will last 80 hours or not, but my impression is that it will. I’ve used the headset for several days so far and the battery reading is only in the 80’s percentile. The battery also quick charges.
In my experience so far, the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 3 headset is an excellent value for the money.

I feel like I've tried so many headphones. I'll preface my review by saying I'm not an audiophile or anything. I like things to "sound good" to me but that isn't necessarily going to be the same thing that "sounds good" to you. I think these headphones sound really good. One of the better pair, especially at this price point.
Setup is dead simple. Plug in the USB dongle and you're off to the races. Best news is this set comes with TWO dongles that you can swap between with a button on the headset. I've had one other pair of headphones that was designed to connect to multiple systems at once and I thought that was such a cool and useful feature. That was all wired. This is so easy to just plug into whatever you'd like and go nuts. A single button press switches between them. Mind truly blown.
Usage was fairly easy. I'm not used to the main function buttons of a headset being on the left ear, but it wasn't a huge adjustment. There's a volume dial as well as a mic/side tone dial. I feel like the side tone volume is usually a set it and forget it setting for me so I'm not sure a full dial on the ear was necessary but it's there if you want it. There's also a "mode" button that toggles between different EQ settings. On the right ear, you have most of your bluetooth settings (which it can connect to simultaneously). You can dial in the bluetooth volume to your liking or switch the USB receiver you're currently connects to.
Sound quality, I feel, is really good. It's loud. Like really loud. I could just be getting old, but when I was using these to just listen to music on my PC, I had the volume set to around 10-15% to listen comfortably. They aren't deafening if you crank them up but they sound really loud. Depending on the EQ you're using, the bass actually sounds really nice. Sound-wise, in general, I just thought these sounded like one of the better sets of headphones that I've used and at the pricepoint these are at, they're hard to beat. This is all my subjective opinion but I have tried out a lot of headphones over the last decade or so.
There's no active noise canceling in these but the ear pads feel like they get a good seal on your ears and I didn't hear a lot of excess noise leaking in. This could also come back around to how loud the headphones sound. It's very possible the volume compensates for the lack of noise canceling.
The microphone sounds fine. I'm not going to write home about it but it's fine. It's not bad. It's not going to replace my XLR microphone. It's just a decent headphone mic.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with these headphones. If there was an optional 3.5mm input jack, I'd consider replacing my streaming headphones with these. But since I can't go wireless during streams, these will probably step in as my new off-stream set and get used with my PS5 with the second dongle. I'm a fan and if these are in your pricerange, you should consider them.

TLDR - The 3rd gen Turtle Beach Stealth 700 is a near perfect headset. It has decent value, it feels quite solid, has 2 USB dongles included, PLUS bluetooth compatibility that can be used simultaneously with a dongle (it has a separate bluetooth volume control). They get very loud, and sound great, but being an extra large headed guy, they could get just a touch bigger when extended. Great overall!
Sound - I’m not an audiophile, but they have to be near the biggest drivers I’ve seen on a gaming headset. The sound at all levels is great, even without really messing with any equalizer settings.
Build - The cups feel soft but firm enough to maintain shape over a long while (from what I can tell so far) The overall build is solid, wish the folding mic felt more solid, but seems fine.
Software - The Turtle beach Swarm app is a bit lame, not the worst console app I’ve seen, but not the best either. The mobile version seems better than the Windows version. (AI is the current buzzword included with everything, adding to a headset for noise cancelation is a bit silly)
Overall the 3rd gen Stealth 700 is a legit higher end wireless headset with great sound, and tons of great features, and few caveats.

Turtle beach is back again with a fury! Fantastic headphones with mic for gaming , music listening, watching TV, conferencing or just a basic phone call.
Works via Bluetooth or via the included wireless dongle, giving a lot of versatility and opens you up to all sorts of possibilities.
I've been using it primarily for team gameplay in Battlefield 2042 on the PC, but have used it for watching a movie with the volume cranked up while attached to the TV via Bluetooth.
Sound quality is unmatched compared to any other "gaming" headsets I've tried. Build quality is top notch, even compared to other Turtle Beach headsets I've used in the past.
Something they rock the house with though - an 80 hour battery life. I've yet to test the limits of this, but I can say I've put in at least 60 hours since receiving them and after the initial charge. That's super impressive considering most batteries need to be "exercised" before reaching their full potential!
Another great audio product from Turtle Beach - thanks for meeting my expectations of your brand!
