Decided to get my 60" sharp q+ calibrated and it was totally worth it! The picture looks more realistic and everything flows more naturally. If you are going to invest in a high end tv i strongly recommend getting this service. The geek squad agent also was very friendly and explained what he was doing every step of the process, he also called me and said a spot had opened up and could actually come earlier than my scheduled appointment. FANTASTIC!

Techs not Professional, don't have Right Equipment

I live in Montgomery County PA 25 miles north of Philly, and this was my experience. I had my calibration scheduled for my Pioneer Pro Elite 111-FD Plasma on a Saturday October 29th 2016. The guy named Robert arrived on time and everything seemed normal. He was doing the calibration in movie mode and I told him that Pure Mode has the most options for calibration and he got very upset and told me "do you think you know more than me" He couldn't do what he called the "white balance adjustment" He called some kind of help desk or something and talked to a guy about getting into the service menu. He tried a dozen times and couldn't do it. He called a second guy and he told me that this model tv can't be calibrated and that NOBODY HAS EVER calibrated this tv EVER IN HISTORY. I told him that there are numerous magazine review of this tv being calibrated and that I've personally talked to people on forums who have this same tv and had it calibrated. He acted like I was crazy and that nobody has ever calibrated this model tv. He said I was rude for acting like this tv could ever be calibrated. The guy literally believed 100% that this model tv could never be calibrated and that nobody has ever calibrated this model tv. Talking to Robert was like talking to a Flat Earther. Here's how the calibration of this tv is SUPPOSED to be done. http://precision-video.blogspot.com/2009/04/pioneer-pro-111fd-review-and.html Here's a review showing it can be calibrated. http://www.soundandvision.com/content/pioneer-elite-pro-111fd-plasma-tv#KBJ5Sv1aBw86IZRi.97 Here's another review proving that it could be calibrated. https://www.cnet.com/products/pioneer-elite-kuro-pro-1fd/review/ Here is more information. http://www.avsforum.com/forum/167-plasma-flat-panel-displays/1053444-official-pioneer-9g-kuro-settings-issues-thread.html

ISF calibration makes a huge difference

About a year ago I had an ISF calibration done on my older model Samsung es6500 model tv which was not a top of the line tv, more of a middle of the road tv, but after the calibration was complete I was astounded at the difference that is made on the clarity and color of my tv. It was really worth the time spent on calibrating it. I have to admit I was scepticle at first at what the results were going to look like, but afterwards I was very pleased with the outcome. I plan on having my newer F8000 model done soon as well. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get the best picture quality from their tv.

I was somewhat skepticle when I was considering this service. I looked online for reviews and the pros and cons of this service. To make a long story short, I scheduled my new LG TV for a calibration service call. I used my new tv for about 5oo hours before my technician came to do his thing. He took his time and explained everything he did and I actually saw him dial in the colors and contrast. What a magnificent improvement he made on my tv. I'm so glad I had this service performed on my tv. I have a LG 55LK520 television. I can't speak for others but I would always have this done to your new tv you just spent a boatload of money on. Good Luck

AFTER 3 OR 4 RE-SCHEDULES, I FINALLY GOT MY NEW 40 INCH LED CALIBRATED, DIDNT HAVE TO EAT THE COST THOUGH, CAME AS A FREEBIE THROUGH THE REWARD ZONE OFFER, WANTED AN EARLY ARRIVAL TIME AND THE TECH BRYAN DID NOT DISSAPOINT, AFTER SEEING THE BEFORE AND AFTER I CAN REALLY TELL THE DIFFERENCE, ESPECIALLY WHEN VIEWING A BLU-RAY, BRYAN WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL, NEAT, CLEAN, TOOK ALL OF 40 MINUTES, HALF WHAT I EXPECTED, THE COLORS AND PICYURE QUALITY JUST AMAZE ME, ONLY ONE PROBLEM IS ITS JUST TOO OVERPRICED, 125.00-150.00 AT THE MOST, 250.00 IS JUST TOO MUCH, ALSO IF SOMEONE GOES OUT AND SPENDS 1000.00 ON A NEW FLAT PANEL IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED FOR NO EXTRA CHARGE.

Great service, but you need to talk to tech prior

I have an older rear projection TV and the calibrations that need to be adjusted require you enter into a special factory calibration menu which requires a special manual, which luckily I had purchased from the TV manufacturer (I understand newer sets allow the user to change these settings). The Geek squad agent that set up the visit did not ask for any TV specifics. The tech had good understanding of the settings we needed to change (but had no manual for this set), and it took over half the time to get the correct configuration to even start the process. Because if that we were only able to calibrate one input, versus the expected two. Make sure you talk to the tech prior to the visit and make sure he has the appropriate calibration manual if you have an older TV. The TV picture on the calibrated input is far superior to the pre-calibration picture and really pops now.

I was first hesitant on doing a calibration on my Samsung UN60F7100, and after doing a little research decided to take advantage of this service being free due to being a premier silver member. Now for the full review...My first appointment was for a Tuesday, but was delayed for a week. After numerous calls to Geek Squad to confirm this change, I was finally able to reschedule for the next week. A side note, when you schedule an appointment for calibration, Geek Squad will ask if you have viewed the TV for at least 100 hours, they even send a confirmation email detailing this. Well...now to the actual calibration. The technician arrived at my house, and the first question was how long have you had the TV, I responded 3 weeks, and more than the minimum 100 hours. He immediately told me that 100 hours was not acceptable and that the appropriate time would have been 3 months to calibrate. He made valid points, but seemed like he did not want to be where he was supposed to be. When I brought up Best Buys policy on this he said that their policy on calibration was incorrect. This is perfectly understandable, and could not see fault in this persons judgment, however, if this were the case and we should all wait at least 3 months for this service, then it should be clearly stated on Best Buys website. Most of us spend plenty of money, hard earned, and especially in this economy and want results. The calibration was completed, very quickly, and could actually see small improvements, however not enough to justify the actual price. Best Buy has failed here with this service and should be more clear, especially when it charges $250.00 for this service. I have read many articles on this and can agree that this "calibration is hit or miss". I will end by saying that I am very disappointed by this service and although the technician was very respectful, this service is not worth the money, even if it is free. Best Buy has to really check its policies on calibration and the actual "break in period" and correctly inform their customers.

I was really excited to have my Sony 930 calibrated. Especially since the sales associate spoke it up so well. However the tech they sent to my home should not be doing calibrations. Where do I begin? I guess the fact that she needed to use one of my own HDMI cables for the calibration equipment because the one she had was too big to fit on my TV. She then had to call Best Buys own tech support to trouble shoot her tools (even the tech support guy didn't sound too confident in what she was doing). It took about 40 minutes to get the process started. Then she began to calibrate the TV. She didn't change the TV to the custom setting. She left the TV in Sony's "Cinema Home" mode. That is Sony's most color accurate setting out the box. During the calibration color slide after color slide she exclaims "wow this tv is already spot on!, I only have to tweak this one little thing". She turned down one setting by two clicks. Packed up her stuff and then was on her way. This only wasted about 90 minutes of my day. Fortunately I have Total Tech Support so the service was only $50. Even then it was $45 too much. I would not pay the $200 for this service otherwise. Especially if you have a Sony TV. Throw it in Cinema Home and save your money. The only thing this calibration did was back Sony's claims on color accuracy.

Calibrations are truly amazing if they’re performed correctly. All of our agents that perform calibrations should’ve taken the extensive training offered by the Imaging Science Foundation. We’re sorry to hear that the agent who visited your home may not have done the job correctly. For support with this, please call us at (800) GEEK-SQUAD or (800) 433-5778.

    Sony 930c Tv Calibration

On 9/12/18 I had Best Buy calibrate my Sony 930 C tv. The tv was over a year old and I read it was the time to calibrate the tv. They peformed the work and I wasn’t really thrilled with the picture, it just didn’t look like 4K, meaning the people and object in the for-front really did not stand out. This is a bad thing: I ASSUMED the Best Buy was going to set the tv at it’s maximum potential, so much for ASSUMING. This past week I had 2 clickers in my hand and “Football Mode came on and the picture was Spectacular! I went to the Best Buy where I ordered the calibration. I asked them why my tv suddenly appear to work so well. The man stated all Best Buy was to do was set the internal calibration and the picture settings were up to me. This is where I ASSUMED that they were going to give me the best picture….. The man from Best Buy also stated the representative from Sony is at the store from 3pm on Thursdays; I couldn’t make an appointment, so it was suggested that I come back to the store. I arrived at the store 4:15 and the Best Buy person said he was apparently around , but not at that time. Anyway Sony help is a good as Best Buy. Best Buy offered to come out for a fee of $79.00 on the first day I visited Best Buy. You would think that since I had to purchase the Geek Squad service that they would have come out to at least assess the situation. Upon leaving , I asked to speak with the store manager. He restated that the calibration was just setting the internal setting and that the customer was responsible for the picture quality. I re-stated my original reason for coming to Best Buy; That I wanted the best picture possible and unfortunately Best Buy cannot go beyond doing the least amount of work in CUSTOMER SATISFACTION.

We appreciate you bringing this situation to our attention. Thanks for trusting Geek Squad with your calibration. We can understand how it would be important to you to have the best picture possible for your TV, and how it could be confusing to get the settings just right. We always want you to be satisfied with your service and understand what's included. Speaking to one of our Agents at (800) GEEK-SQUAD, or (800) 433-5778, should be able to help get that underway.

Very Disappointed in Geek Squad Service

If I had actually gotten my tv calibrated it wouldn't be so bad. I made my appointment for my TV calibration schedule for the 21 December. I made this appointment on the 19 December. After taking the day off from work since I have to be home between 8 am to 12 pm, I got a call from the technician at 10 am the morning of my appointment, that his equipment is not working properly and that he ordered a new equipment two months ago, but didn't know the status of where it is. Two months ago he ordered a new equipment and I get a call on the day of my appointment that he didn't have a working equipment......REALLY GEEK SQUAD!!!!!.....It wouldn't have been bad if I was told that the equipment broke that day, but two months ago. So now I had to cancel my appointment and probably wouldn't get my tv calibrated. With this kinda of service, Geek Squad just lose a customer.

At first I wasn't sure about paying for something that I thought I could do myself. But, after going over the whole calibration with Ceser he made me uderstand why my TV needed to be calibrated by a trained technician. I didn't think the picture could get any better. But after he was finished it looked 100% better. What really sold me was Ceser explaing what to look for in a good picture and the result. Excellent job.

After reading some of the reviews online and seen that a lot of reviews were not positive, I decided to purchase the TV calibration service, even thought I felt uncomfortable with some of the stuff that was written. Well, I booked the TV calibration service for a Saturday as I work during the week, and suddenly I receive a call saying that the appointment had been canceled without a proper explanation. Therefore, I had to move stuff around to be able to reschedule to the following Saturday. Now, I just got another call back (30 min before scheduled service) and the person responsible for the TV calibration tells me that he will not be able to make it, because his software can not be updated due to some virus going around. I hope you understand that when people book a service to be carried out in person, these people my have other commitments that they had to move around to suit you availability and when you cancel twice, it really is extremely annoying. I am really disappointed in regards to your commitment to your costumer. I have just canceled the service and I am paying double now for someone to come and calibrate my TV in two weeks time, but at least I know that I can have the piece of mind. If you are looking for this sort of service and have a busy life, I would not recommend that you hire these guys.

    Read before purchasing calibration

I'm new to "high-end" TVs, but just purchased an LG OLED65B6 from Best Buy. I purchased it online and it was delivered today. Delivery was free and also hassle free. Tonight, I decided to pay for professional calibration. I was expecting an experience as hassle-free as the TV purchase and delivery was. At first, it wasn't too bad. After purchasing the calibration, I received an email telling me to call the Geek Squad to schedule to appointment/calibration. The email Best Buy sends you says: Call 1‑800‑GEEKSQUAD (1‑800‑433‑5778) and say: "Schedule Installation" And then say the type of installation you've purchased: for example, "Home Theater" or "Computer" I followed those instructions, and on the final step, I said "TV Calibration". The automated service couldn't understand what I was saying. Tried multiple variations. No luck. Asked for operator. That's okay though. I don't expect Best Buy's automated phone service to be as sophisticated as Alexa, Siri, etc. The problem came when I finally spoke to a real person. As a side note, the lady I spoke with was very friendly and was only going by what Best Buy has laid out for her. She asked when I bought the TV that I want calibrated. I told her it was just delivered today. She told me that before calibration can happen, the TV needs to have around 120 hours of viewing time, and I would have to wait to get a calibration. I don't know much about TV's, and whether or not that's true, I can't find anywhere on the page that states that. But if it's true, the soonest I could get a calibration from Best Buy (unless I lie about my viewing time) would be in 5 days, assuming I'm watching my new TV 24 hours a day. So then I asked for a refund of my calibration purchase. I ended up getting a full refund, but the entire phone experience took 24 minutes after I called the number Best Buy tells you to call after purchasing this calibration. The waiting period before speaking to a real person didn't take long. But most of the 24 minutes can be attributed to being on hold while the lady was getting answers from others. I can't comment on how good the calibration is, but I hope this is helpful for those who have recently purchased a TV and considering a calibration.

I ordered the $250 Geek Squad plan on December 17, 2019 along with this $50 TV calibration appointment. Not only is there a 2-4 week wait in the Seattle area for calibration, but FOUR times they canceled the appointment the same day (even hours) before the appointment, often with just an email or a robocall! Dealing with Geek Squad's minimum wage mouth-breathers in an overseas call center was a wicked, evil nightmare costing me at least 12 phone calls through their inefficient teleprompter swamp and staff members who work off primitive scripted responses (human robots). Save yourself a headache and many lost precious hours of time and avoid this trash. They cancel without explanation and have no ability whatsoever to deliver this service in the Puget Sound region.

The isf standard is far superior to the basic standard tvs come with today. Our gaming and movies are much more detailed and look fantastic. The energy use of our led is reduced and it's like the tv isn't on after 8+ hours as it's cool to the touch. We absolutely love the picture much better now and highly recommend this service to everyone.

After month and a half of canceling appointments technician finally showed up. He calibrated only the movie picture mode, it looks ok at the beginning so once I started watching more and more I knew it was worse than before it does looks very blurry . So I send him a text and I asking to at least come back and calibrate the CALDAY, CALNIGHT, because I had a old Samsung tv with those modes calibratedand what I have now is a Q90R (7000+tv), this is what he Tex me back We don't have a way of changing any of the picture modes to actually say Cal - day or Cal - night, but if you wish you can consider the movie mode the night setting and then I can set up a redo to come out and set up native mode as the day setting. However it will be a couple of weeks before I have time to do that as our schedule is pretty backed up I dint replied to the message I just didn’t want to get any more mad than I already was, now I’m just using a different picture mode that wasn’t “calibrated” by Geek Squad”

Thanks for taking the time to reach out about your experience when receiving a TV calibration service. Neither multiple reschedules nor an incomplete service are what we want for our customers. The TV calibration service should be a great way to ensure you’re getting the best out of your TV’s display.

With this said, it’s my understanding that our TV Calibration service should include optimization of the display for day and night use using either Day/Night or equivalent modes. The names may not be the same, but there should be two modes calibrated with two inputs to account for the nuances of external devices. At this point, please contact Geek Squad at (800) GEEK-SQUAD or (800) 433-5778 for further assistance.
