when free install is not free
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i have held off writing this review because at the time i thought it was big pain. I had purchased the 65" LG OLED TV one because I liked the TV and Best Buy was offering free sound bar and free installation. Sounded good to me so I went for it. Friday Night bought the TV and scheduled the install time for following Thursday. Two days later on Sunday went back in and bought the in wall mount and TV wall mount.Was told because they charge to install in wall unit and hook up the sound bar there was an additional fee of $50 to install sound bar and in wall wiring, no problem paid for all that. Best Buy could not keep the same scheduled appointment because of adding the sound bar hook up had to be done by a different install guy? Had to scheduled for the the following Thursday.Now two weeks after I bought the tv, Was told someone would call me and give me a time window of when they would be at my home to install the day before . Wednesday Night I get a call from Salvador who said he would be at my house between 12 noon and 1:00 pm, no problem. Thursday at 1:00 pm get another call from Salvador and he tells me he is running late and that it would be between 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm because he had to go by the store and pick up my TV. OK what else can I say. At 4:00pm Salvador and his wife show up at my house with the TV and sound bar in his white pick up. I thought the GEEK squad was going to do the install instead I get a outside contractor from Fresno to do my Job , Four hours later when Salvador said he was done he wanted to give me a bill for $250 because he installed and hooked up the in wall wire unit, hooked up the sound bar ran two wires in the wall.I told Him I had already paid for the sound bar hook up and the install was free from Best Buy, NO sir he tells me so now I have to call Best Buy and get the manager on the speaker phone with Salvador. It was not pretty and all this going on inside my living room. Salvador was upset at Best Buy The manager tells me I do not owe anything.After the call I settle on half the amount with Salvador to get him out of my house. Thursday night I go to BEST BUY and discuss this with store manager to there credit the local Best buy manager and salesman that waited on me did apologize for the situation . I found out afterward I should have paid $50 for the sound bar install,( which I did) and also a separate $50 for the in wall install hookup which I offed to do once I found this out,For a total of $100 up front before they show up to your house and not pay an additional charge by the installer. SO WHEN BEST BUY offer free install make sure you ask about all the other charges and who will be installing your TV,I hope this saves you from making a call to BEST BUY from your living room with a upset outside contractor standing next to you wanting his money.

Disappointed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all we had major scheduling problems. Was rescheduled three times. When the Geek squad came he was a nice guy but he was no geek. He admitted as much. He had problems putting the stand together because he said he never had done one on this new set. He finally figured it out and his set up was very basic and did not have answers for all our questions and for many he said you will figure it out. Just play with it. Truthfully I was looking for more support. He said he was not a real Tech person. Of course I am even less so I needed help and he did get it up and running. In my case I would have to recommend but if you have a friend or relative that knows something go with them.

Super Set-up
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We used Mike Tenenbaum from Custom Home Theater Company to do the complete audio and video set up of our new LG Oled tv and could not be happier! He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly in setting up the new tv to use our 15 year old B&W speakers and Yamaha receiver. All those cables and connectors seemed so easy-peasy in his hands!! He spent a lot of time getting everything just right--well worth the money spent on a complex installation job!

Disappointing

LG TV, Pioneer Elite receiver, and speakers that had to be integrated to the in-wall speakers and other equipment that was previously installed. They say having a limited knowledge is worse and having no knowledge at all and that was truly the case with my installers. They can connect wires, and mount a tv, but they didn’t understand the capabilities of the receiver and the tv and therefore completely missed the mark of what you would expect from a competent installation crew. As an example they installed an ir repeater by punching a hole in the wall underneath the outlet, when it wasn’t even needed. I still don’t understand why they would punch a hole in the wall, even if the extra wire was necessary. They didn’t walk me through the capabilities of the equipment and didn’t leave the directions before they left. They left without completing the install and told me to get the full functionality of my equipment I had to install an additional optical cable between the tv and the receiver. So I called an electrician to install the additional wiring and it turns out, it wasn’t necessary. All they needed to do was to update the firmware which they didn’t do during the initial install. I had to put up with that issue for well over a month before another Best Buy installer came and after reading the instructions (online, because I never received the instructions, warranty info, or any other docs) realized that the firmware was the issue. Very disappointed about the installation and advice of the in home advisor. I would never use the in home advisor or the installation crew again.

They said I needed a different cable to connect to my DVR, but could not supply me with one. Probably wanted me to buy one from Best Buy.

We purchased the insurance the day we bought it. this has beena problem

I did NOT have a TV connect& set-up

I was in the store later and saw other receivers for much less money that would have worked fine. I felt that I was led to buy a unnecessarily expensive item.

Not pleased with one of the Geek Squad team

In particular, he told us the HDMI cable we had purchased was too short. He went back to the store to get another which actually turned out to be too long and was way too expensive. Following the installation, he told me he was going to trade in the original cable I had purchased and get it credited to my account. He never did. After several weeks, I had to track down the problem and have it addressed. I will also say the online Geek Squad help was anything but helpful. While the one member of the team was great, I will not allow the other in my house for any reason.

We had to purchase a cable which I believe should have been on their truck. Then we had to make another appointment for them to finish. I would recommended with reservations.
