This doesn't connect to your airpods and when they do, the audio isn't the best. The controls for this device are horrible, 1 button to control it?? Look around for other products. This is being returned.

Tried to use it on a flight, could not figure out how to get it to pair to my AirPods. Watched all the instruction videos and still wouldn’t work, gave up and returned it as soon as I got home.

This is a great little device that solves an issue that I didn't even think about until you actually fly with wireless headphones and want to listen to in-flight entertainment. Wireless headphones are great but when you're flying and the plane only has a wired connection, you're kind of hosed but this solves that issue!
Super simple to set up and sound quality was good from what I could here however there is a very slight delay in the audio when viewing video but it's not a big deal.
Battery life was about 4 to 4.5 hours for me which was decent but I do like that you can charge it while you're using it.
Great little product!

I won't be travelling for a couple of months, but I was able to test this using my iPod Nano.
I started out by pairing the AirFly to my noise cancelling headphones. The process was pretty straight forward, hold down the button on the AirFly until it flashes, then slide the power button on the headphone over past the on position into the pairing position. Once paired I plugged the Airfly into the iPod and the music came through nice and clean, no static.
I powered everything down and then started over with the wireless headphones I use for running. Again the process was simple and once connected to the iPod the music came through clear with no static.
My next trip is in July and I look forward to trying the AirFly out on the planes in flight entertainment system.

The idea is brilliant, but unfortunately it just did not work. I notice there is now a new version which I bought and works perfectly. Best Buy refunded my money quickly and efficiently, so no concerns there.

Works great with the Switch

Pro:
Small and light
Battery is good for size
Comes with carrying pouch, short 3.5mm cable, and USB cable
Con:
Still uses micro USB
This is a simple solution for me to use with Nintendo Switch. It works well, was easy to set up, and is small and lightweight. It’s about 2in x 1.5in and weighs practically nothing. The short 3.5mm wire feels heavier. I can leave it hanging on the back of my Switch and don’t even notice it. The battery lasts up to 8 hours and charges in less than 2 hours.
The only negative is that it still uses micro USB rather than USB C. So I have have to carry an extra cable, but at least I don’t have to carry the extra cable for my headphones.

I've tried this out with several devices and it works flawlessly. Since I haven't flown (my intended use for this) yet, I had to find several ways to test it. First I used it on a television with a headphone jack. My wife and I each took a Bluetooth earbud and could hear just fine. I used it with a hotel clock radio while my wife slept. I tested it with a computer around the house. This has great range. I can go from my den to the kitchen, butlers pantry, garage, entry hall, front porch and dining room before it begins to drop out. Sound quality was excellent with all of the sources I tried. This is a great little transmitter, I can't wait to get on a plane with it.

A great way to extend the life of older devices

I have more than my fair share of bluetooth headphones of many different types, but not all of my devices are equipped with bluetooth. The new AirFly from twelvesouth allows you to use your favorite bluetooth headphones with any device that outputs sound through a standard headphone jack.
My favorite MP3 player was created before bluetooth had taken hold, and the trusty MP3 player is still going strong, so I have no intention of upgrading until I have to. The AirFly lets me use my old audio player with newer headphones, and it really works well! The AirFly features a single button, cleverly disguised as a light-up logo. Holding it down a few seconds puts the device in pairing mode. Simply put your headphones in pairing mode as well, and the two will find each other.
Sound quality was surprisingly good. I expected a big drop-off in quality, but I really didn’t experience that. Like all bluetooth headsets, those used with the AirFly will not be able to be as loud as those that are directly plugged in, but they were actually quite good, and much louder than if I were using them with my iPhone. Aside from loudness, the tonal quality was quite good as well, with clean lows and crisp high notes. Keep in mind that you’re still subject to the capabilities of whatever headphones you’re using, since the AirFly is not a signal booster or processor, it merely passes the music on to your headphones.
It’s nice to find a product that does one thing and does it well. As far as functionality goes, I’ve already described what it can do. It’s up to you to find applications for those capabilities: airplane entertainment systems, older TVs, older music devices. This is a handy thing to have around, and I’m glad I picked one up!

Wonderful Travel Companion

As someone who travels, I love how freaking handy this thing is. I've used it with my wireless noise cancelling headphones on flights with almost no issue or sync issues. The battery life is more than enough for the 1.5 - 2 hour flights I go on and that's only if I don't plug it into a USB port which some planes have.
It comes with a short USB cable for power / charging and a small aux cable. YMMV based on your need, and there's been times I've had to swap them out for longer cables.
I was so intrigued by it, that I started playing with it around the house too. I did notice a slight delay when I used it to stream BT audio from an old LCD & Apple TV 2 setup in my garage.
When I'm at home, I primarily use it to stream my Mac mini's BT audio to my smart speaker. I have noticed a slight hum that others mention when casting audio to my speaker, but it goes away when I manage the volume.
I love Twelve South products, I have several iPhone / iPad and Mac docks from them. Never been disappointed yet!

So the first AirFly I received would not pair with my AirPods despite following all instructions/turning off any nearby devices that connect to my AirPods as well. Twelve South (the manufacturer) quickly responded to my email and overnighted me a new AirFly. I repeated the steps and the setup was quick and worked the first time.
The sound quality is great too. I tested it with a Macbook Pro (which I could connect the AirPods directly to) and saw little difference in sound quality from a direct connection. There was a momentary interruption in audio/connection while listening to music but it didn't happen again (I believe it was because the battery was low - once I plugged in the charger it was smooth sailing). I am chalking the original issue up to a defective AirFly (which can happen with any product), and appreciate the quick response from the manufacturer. I look forward to using this device in other applications, such as when flying.

Use your bluetooth headphones EVERYWHERE

I have good quality headphones and bluetooth speakers. The last thing I want is to have a device that I cannot use them with. My TV cannot pair my bluetooth headset, my projector looks weird with a very long aux plug, my guitar usually bugs the person I am sitting with when I play-- now they are all WIRELESS. This device simply adds bluetooth to any device with a plug (converters required for non aux) and I love it. Don't get me wrong, this is not a new product. It is a bluetooth transmitter. I've had the chance to see other bluetooth transmitters as well. You know the difference, this has the user in mind. The confirmation lights and the simple interface makes everything easier. So far, no drops in connection and I have continuous connection over 20 feet (have not used it farther than that). It is a great device. Easy to pair and gives more meaning to my devices without bluetooth. I recommend!

This little device is basically a bluetooth transmitter that is battery powered. It is a portable version that allows you to hookup your bluetooth headset or speaker to any 3.5mm outlet that does not have built in bluetooth.
This is made for short trips such as to the gym or airline flight. I tested it at the local gym and used it to sync to my Sony wireless headphones to the elliptical I was on. I watched TV and was able to listen with my own wireless headphones.
The signal was great and the battery easily lasted my entire workout (45minutes) without any issues. I then kept running it at home on my old school ipod and it kept working for several hours without the need to charge.
I recommend this product as being one that does exactly what it promises. I really like it.

Must-have for Switch Owners

Anyone who hates wired headphones and uses BT only wireless sets, but want to connect to a device that doesn't have BT (so few of these nowadays) will make great use of these transmitters.
The only killer app device I can think of besides really old legacy devices is the Nintendo Switch. I'm sure the next Switch will remedy this, but until then I can use my Airpods over BT and leave the wired headsets at home.
Some wireless/BT headsets also support 3.5mm so if you were one of those folks, you probably don't care too much about this transmitter. Works well, but its a niche device that will go away soon.

The idea behind this product is great, especially the airline use case scenario. The quick start guide shows you how to pair with your headphones or Airpods and from there, everything works smoothly. I haven't had a chance to put the battery through its paces, yet, but it's easy to charge with the included USB cable, so I don't anticipate any issues.

This is perfect for my office to use on the work network without the wires of normal headphone obstructing my typing. Cell reception stinks in my office and why waste my data when I can plug in to the work computer and listen to my streaming Music all day or watch a video. My girlfriend also works night shifts so I have plugged This in to the sound bar and am able to watch tv at whatever volume I want. AND! My old tiny mini iPod loaded with music is now functional with my air pods! Thank you! This product is very functional!
