I bought this to use when I fly for my Airpods. I love not being attached to an airplane headset that is always broken. Had no issues and loved being free from cords. Will probably use at gym now too.

First off I am techie, so I know somethings do not work exactly like advertised all the time. So here is my review:
1. got coffee, unpacked the airfly and got ready to finish the coffee while I waited for said device to work.
2. sipped the coffee and before I could put the cup down, the Airfly was connected to my bluetooth headset and I heard music (angels singing Hallelujah, or something like that).
Now on to the reason you are reading this.
1. unit is small and very portable. which I like
2. it recharges quickly and comes with need cables ( you must supply your own "phone" brick)
3. easy to understand directions and pictures about setting it up.
4. once connected, I got as good or better audio than I get from my laptop or phone.
5. comes with carry pouch (velvety) 2 cables (audio, charging) and or course the Airfly unit.
All in all I was impressed with the size, charging, connection, audio and portability of this. I have not tried yet, but I assume it is a one connection at a time situation and can not be shared (headphones) with another person.
I highly recommend this to anyone that travels a lot and wants to watch movies/programs on the plane via bluetooth headphones. The uses are limited to only planes, trains and automobiles. You can subjectively connect any audio source with a 3.5mm audio out plug to this and go on your wire-free way.

This Bluetooth transmitter works well. I hooked this transmitter to the TV screen in an airplane and I can watch the movies with my AirPods. It is not the easiest thing to set up and connect to AirPods.

The Airfly comes in a nice package with the Airfly Bluetooth transmitter, AUX (3.5 mm) to USB and USB to micro-USB cords. There is also a nice soft pouch included to store all the pieces. All components appear to be well made.
I do not have any travel planned so cannot comment on the usage in an airplane. However, using this connected to the AUX outlet of any device should yield the same results. In my case I have an old MP3 player I have used for a long time that has all my songs and playlists on. I was excited to be able to use cordless headphones with this device for my morning run and any other times I wanted to use the MP3 player. It is rated to hold a charge for 8 hours. I have used it for about 5 hours so far and no charge is needed so far.
I connected the airplay to a set of in-ear and over-the-ear Bluetooth headphones. In each case, I found it took several attempts to pair the Airplay to the headphones. I was able to pair them to each set of headphones successfully. Once paired, wonderful clear music from my old MP3 player streamed to my headphones. It worked perfectly. I would expect the same experience connecting the Airplay to any AUX output. I have used to
Conclusion: I rate this product 4 out of 5 stars. I am removing one star as it took several attempts to successfully pair the device to each set of Bluetooth headphones. Once paired, it works perfectly at streaming the content from the device connected to the Airplay using the provided AUX cord to the Bluetooth headphones.

I have found that plugging this device into the headphone jack on my TV and pairing it with my Bluetooth headphones is a lot easier (and cheaper) than having to buy a set of headphones and receiver base.

This product didn't work out so well for me, but that doesn't mean it won't be right for you.
First off the unit is nice and small which makes it unobtrusive. The build quality is very good. The instructions are clear, and the operation is straight forward, and easy to understand.
I picked up the Twelve South AirFly Transmitter to use with the Nintendo Switch. The unit paired easily with multiple different sets of bluetooth headphones. When I plugged the AirFly into the Switch's audio jack it simply failed to provide any sound. The on screen indicator of the Switch kept flashing back and forth showing a headphone signal, and a mute signal. At no time could I hear anything, and no amount of troubleshooting fixed the problem.
I do believe this is a good product. If you are looking to use it with Apple Airpods there are special instructions in the owner's manual to help you get up and running. I believe this would be a great device for many different entertainment products that don't have bluetooth. Unfortunately it just wasn't right for me.

This item is good for use with AirPods on the plane. Just wish the battery lasted longer. But I am happy that most planes have places you can charge electronics.

Nice Solution to get BT on the Different Devices

This isn't a bad idea for getting sound to my BT headphones from my work laptop or the Nintendo switch. For devices where you can't get BT and have a headphone jack it works well enough.
Pairing is a bit tricky if your used to using a screen, but once paired worked fine once I got my headphones out.
I wanted this primarily because my work laptop is locked down and using wired headphones for to listen to company wide broadcasts and training is not my style. This freed me up and allowed me to use my nicer BT headphones to listen to these. I also realized at home when I'm playing the switch and don't want to make noise I can Airfly to connect my BT headphones to the switch and play. Sound is ok. Its not going to knock your socks off, but it good enough. Its nice that has a battery so you can use it without a power source nearby (like a switch) and it has that white apple look everyone else seems to like. This product though only solves a problem if you need to connect to something that only has a headphone jack and no Bluetooth. That said this is a good solution if you have old tech, locked down tech, or a Switch and want to use your BT Headphones.
