If you want to do any extensive typing on the Surface, this keyboard is a great way to go. I find the touchpad and keys to be consistent and easy to use (despite some on-line claims that the touchpad is substandard) for a device this size. About the only downside so far is that when using the keyboard in its elevated position it is very noisy when typing - not so much so when it's flat on the desk/table. Time will tell how the suede finish will hold up.

I love this keyboard. Sometimes, when typing, I'm aggravated if my palm touches the mouse trackpad, but I love the backlighting and the fact that the amount of backlight can be adjusted. The shortcuts are nice, too. I like the feel of the keys under my fingers. What I don't like is the fact that the keyboard can get really super dirty pretty quickly, and it's got a felt-like fabric type of material that really shows dirt and is not easy to just wipe off.

If you've got a Surface, you need the Type Cover. Although very thin, the typing is really not bad at all. It takes a little time to get used to, but not very much. I guess is you're only using simple apps on your Surface you could manage without this accessory, but for any Windows programs, it's really a requirement.

I have always loved being able to have a keyboard with my tablet - I even had one for my iPad. This keyboard is great because I love using a tablet, but have never liked the on screen keyboard nonsense. Having it on screen always felt like the screen was too small and I couldn't look ahead at what u was going when typing... This fixes that problem! This keyboard also connects nicely to the surface 3 and flips easily from computer mode to tablet mode.

The type cover makes the Surface 3 much more useful than a tablet. Tablets are fine, but lacking in usability in many cases. With the keyboard and touchpad the Surface 3 is much like a light weight laptop. I use it daily to replace an ultrabook 2 in 1. I am quite satisfied and plan buying another in the future.

Purchased the keyboard cover to go with my surface and it works just great! Not only protects the screen but is much simpler to type on than just using the screen especially when doing documents and longer emails. This is really an essential for someone who is replacing a laptop with the surface tablet

If you purchase a surface, I would highly encourage you buy the keyboard. Unless, you intend to use the surface only as a tablet for browsing the internet or using social media apps, the keyboard allows you to fully utilize the surface's functionality and also provides some additional screen protection,.

I bought by Microsoft Surface 3 without the Type Cover and then returned to get it later. I decided it was much more convenient to have a keyboard and cover than using the Surface without a keyboard. However, I use it both ways since it easily detaches from my Surface. It's definitely worth the money.

This little keyboard has a great feel. The keyboard is backlit but runs off the power of the Surface so it does not need a separate charger like other tablet keyboards. It connects to the Surface with magnets, so it will not loosen up like clips do over time. I am very pleased with product.

This item does what it's supposed to do, and the keyboard in pretty comfortable and easy to use

They are awesome and lightweight. I love the magnetic snap on feature where you can detach and reattach in one second. Since the Surfaces have the kickstand, these work flawlessly. Make sure you purchase the correct one. The Surface 3 keyboard is a different size than the Surface Pro 4's.

This is a great keyboard!!! I originally had the touch keyboard for my surface 2, but I didn't really like it because it was too sensitive sometimes and not sensitive other times. As a student, this helps me takes notes in class. Additionally, because BB price matches, I got this for a steal.

Snaps on and ready to use. Also acts as a screen saver when moving around. Yes, this is a smaller keyboard than a standard laptop, but the portability makes it worth the smaller keyboard. Just doubt my older hands could really type a long document without getting cramped. But it really makes the Surface 3 a full functional laptop!

I was thinking to myself that this keyboard was pretty expensive, and perhaps this device may be overpriced. When this keyboard just attached to the tablet and lights up it stole my heart away and the fact that I was able to stay away from additional battery cost is a consistent plus.

Works very well as a keyboard and cover. I like the way you can slant the keyboard. You just need to be careful if you are used to having a laptop as I have pushed the Surface off of an airplane table when trying to get the comfortable. Fortunately the Surface handed the fall well.

This in my opinion is an essential add on if you have a surface. The windows 10 mobile/touch experience is a little lacking to me so by adding a keyboard cover you get the usability of a laptop in table form. This thing is a must have if you are going to use a surface

The Surface type cover works great, feels good to the touch, and brightens my day. The keyboard is a little small, but I wanted the smaller Surface Pro. The feel of the keys and the back lighting are fine. I love the way the type cover snaps in place magnetically.
