The sound is good, did not want too much booming base, so perfect for treatment room. One thing I do not understand is why it will simply turn itself off without me doing or saying a thing. The only other difficulty for me is linking the speaker to different sound sources. If I had something coming from the iPod Touch, I have to reconnect it to Echo dot and vice versa. I haven't been familiar with all the apps and what not, connecting bluetooth. Otherwise, it's just the turning itself off issue that I wish they'd work on or that would just fix itself!

We own a UE Boom 2 so I was curious what improvements UE would make to the Boom 3. The new look is nice with an iridescent mesh scheme all the way around the device instead of only mesh accents. It’s also nice that in addition to being fully waterproof and submersible, the new Boom 3 now floats. Operation is mostly the same with the exception of the new magic button on the top that can be used to start, stop, advance and rewind tracks. Volume is still controlled via the app or the large plus and minus signs on the front. Sound quality is good and the volume gets loud enough to make the Boom 3 ideal for small parties or get-togethers. You can daisy chain speakers together using the block party feature of the app. Like the Boom 2, the Boom 3 isn’t particularly strong with bass, at least to me. The bass is there and music sounds nice but it’s a bit flat, especially if you like bass heavy music. The high and mid frequencies are nice and crisp and sound great. Sound can be adjusted and tweaked via the Boom app. Battery life and charging time are both good. The charging port is now on the side but is still micro-USB. I was a bit disappointed UE didn’t move up to USB-C like most manufacturers are doing. The speaker comes with a micro-USB charging cable but no wall adapter. You can use a micro-USB phone or similar adapter if desired. The improvements are nice but if you own a Boom 2, I’d say hold steady for the next release unless the new ability to float is super important. Even with the new lower price, I can’t see any new features compelling enough to ditch a Boom 2 and upgrade. If you don’t own a Boom speaker already, the new features and lower price make this absolutely worth it. Just make sure to have realistic expectations if you’re a bass head.

I use it for a variety of things from reading to shipping and linking it to my Echo dots. I also appreciate the ability to send text messages without having to go find my cell phone.

Love it. Have multiple UE BOOM products. They are awesome! They ALL can link up using the free Ap, and you can have a party playing your play list simultaneously on all UE BOOM speakers you link to the group. I have 3, and they sound great. Functionally, they are waterproof and/water resistant, and can move wherever you want them. Happy with my purchase. Worth the $!

This speaker has great sound and it's easy to operate. I use it while working and for traveling. It's a quality speaker for the price.
