was expecting better sound quality and more volume power for the size and price of the speaker

In sound quality and style, this is an upgrade from my previous Megaboom speaker, but swapping Alexa for a "magic" button isn't a great tradeoff. I does work with my old Power Up charging dock, but the diameter is slightly smaller, so there's a bit of the dock peeking out around the base of the speaker. It does look a lot better, in that the fabric looks nicer and the volume buttons blend in much better. I used to turn my old megaboom around backwards so it wouldn't stick out visually so much in my office. This new one will blend in much better, and I think, even looks tastefully cool with the buttons visible. This one is also easier to leave plugged in without using the dock. Another upgrade is the ability to charge with a low powered USB connection. The light will blink slower when using a low power connection, so I believe it charges faster with a high power connection and slower with a low power one. My old one wouldn't charge (at least when it was on the dock) unless it was plugged into the high power adapter that came with it. With this one, I can use any available USB connection to charge. The one thing I'm missing from my older version is the wifi connection and Alexa. You could stream directly from the Internet without relying on a phone (or other bluetooth music source). With this one, you must stream from your phone, but it has a new "magic" button that lets you change playlists without having to unlock your phone and open the app. The limitation is that you can only choose four playlists to associate with that button, but it's better than nothing. The only other downside, although a really minor one, is that you have to download a new app for this speaker. UE has really balkanized their software, so if you have multiple types (or generations) of speakers, you're going to have to keep several apps on your phone. All-in-all, a really solid update.

This is the lowest sounding speaker I’ve ever had. My Alexa is louder than this thing. Wouldn’t recommend.

Megaboom has always been one of the best outdoors portable speakers but previous models had the charging port underneath. That forced you to turn it upside down while charging but this newer model fixed that problem. Also, it now offers you the option of charging it wirelessly. I just wished that option were not an accessory that you have to buy if you want the convenience. The “Magic Button” on the top can play or pause music with a single tap, skip with a double tap, and summon a playlist by long pressing it. No need to reach your phone as long as you use the Ultimate Ears app to set up your playlist. Well, that is partially true. If you use it with an iPhone or iPad, your playlist is limited to Apple Music. If you use services such as Amazon Music or Spotify, you have to use those apps to play your lists. All other features of that Magic Button work with all services and the playlist can be considered a minor issue. Still, I hope Logitech can add these other popular services. I have seen louder sound with bigger portable devices but considering its size, the sound is solid and stable. It is punchy and thick but it is also smooth in the lower midrange, and is deep. It fills up a room easily with its excellent 360-degree dispersion of sound. Just do not turn the volume all the way up and you will not notice its limitation. Some songs could sound clearer but most sounded great. One of the nicest features of the Megaboom 3 is that not only is it sturdy, and waterproof, it also floats. You can safely take it to your bathtub or swimming pool. Overall, the design is nice and most important, the sound is very good for this type of speakers. Had the wireless charger been included and the Magic Button playlist function worked with other music services, I would have rated it 5 stars

Description says it all. Only used a few times with battery level had at purchase. Went down to critical charge level, been charging for several hours with no success. Doesn't have a way to even see what level of battery it has. Now have an expensive door stop.

Not heavy on the bass at all. More treble really. Decent speaker and sound.

I've had a number of Bluetooth speakers ranging in size from the size of a guitar amp down to an inch and a half cube. Most of them have distorted severely as the volume went up. This one remained distortion free through the levels I have used it. I've played everything from classical to 50's jazz to 60's and 70's rock and blues and they all sound great on this speaker. The highs and mids are exceptionally strong and clear and to me comparable to the sound I get on my home theater system with 4 full sized towers. I really don't get what I'd call a "MegaBoom" on the lows but it does have very clear and accurate bass and I don't get the low end distortion that I get on my other Bluetooth speakers. My grandchildren had a blast dancing and singing along to this speaker while controlling the music on my phone from my smart watch. I love the fact that it's waterproof and floats as I use Bluetooth speakers at the lake. I also like the feature that allows others to play music from their phones, I always get nervous when people start playing with my phone. I plan to purchase another so that I can play in stereo. This is by far the best sounding Bluetooth speaker I have owned.

Overall a good speaker, but not great. Not as loud as what some say, especially outdoors. Bass is minimal but somehow distorts at full volume. Not impressed. Now, the EQ feature is a joke! If you adjust a setting up at all, it decreases the volume to compensate. Terrible feature and mediocre speaker
