A great gift

Looks great but it’s not all about looks
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I was super excited to get this, having owned an older version and being impressed I was hoping for so much from this. Build quality is top notch, it’s weighty, has a good grippy coating and easy to use controls. The packaging is fantastic with a sleeve that covers a box with a plethora of details, looks great. It comes with a flat cable which is nice for charging and a wall plug. The sound is for me where this kinda falls down. It has plenty of volume but it seems muddy, it’s not that crisp sound you would want from a $200 speaker. The biggest issue though with the sound is the bass, while it has plenty of bass it also has major clipping issues. With the bass at -7 you can still hear the bass clipping away at any loud volumes, combine that with the muddy miss and highs and it’s just not doing it for me. It’s ok, but for $200, I’d look elsewhere

Great speaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A friend had an older model at work and I loved it. When I saw this Megaboom 3 on sale,I bought it and ended up giving it to my wife (as she magically wanted it for the house) .I will buy another for myself as it is truly awesome.

Perfect Speaker for The Sirus XM or Movie App
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I highly recommend the Megaboom 3 Bluetooth Speaker for any one that desires clear, crisp, adjustable sound (downloadable app for adjusting settings, and updating firmare). I would buy this product again, and would love to pair it with a second Megaboom 3 Bluetooth Speaker.

It's a speaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great speaker for listening to music and everything only a few shortcomings that I've noticed are the base is a little lacking compared to what it says was thundering Bass. Sound clear the crystal clear speaker I've ever had her own I found quite a few I upgraded from from the boom 2 still prefer the boom 2 but this gets quite a bit louder.

Meh...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly, I am not impressed. And actually the opposite, I am disappointed. I tested with my android phone and my ipod touch. Pros: Nice shape - can't go wrong with the cylinder. This particular all black color scheme is boring but that was out of my control. There are other color schemes (that's a plus for options). I like those big volume signs on the side (I simply like the way it looks on there, I am not saying it is the best placement for volume control). Good size. Good weight - it's light. Easily portable. You can take calls and listen to media together. It pairs easily. The app allows you to connect a playlist to the Boom, using Deezer (I had never before heard of it). That seemed to be the only option. It is a cool idea actually, but I am not joining Deezer, so. << That is a pro and con together. You can connect many many Booms together using the app. Not a Deal Breaker: The volume controls aren't as easily controllable as they might be if they sat on the top (but it looks good). The power button could easily get mixed up with the magic button (or whatever that biggest button on top is called); but I guess one would eventually get used to it).The charger is micro USB as opposed to USB-C (how old school of you Logitech). The actual charger uses a big ol' charging block taking up all your outlet space (and just screaming ipod classic chargers, from the beginning days... except BIGGER). Oh and the indicator light showing that it is charging is on the "back" under the charging port (not seen with ease). Cons: The sound quality leaves so much more to be desired. The volume can go up up up, but what's the point if it reduces the quality of the sound. This thing sounds like it is begging to be release from confinement. There are zero hints of surround sound (I'm not saying there is supposed to be surround sound). This thing just sounds so obviously 1-speakered. The sound is not clear (not expecting top notch, but...). It was lacking any bass until I swiped through the various equalizer settings in the app and put it on the Bass setting. Every time I messed with it a little to try to improve the sound even more, it only got worse, so I left it right where it was in the Bass setting. It also tends to sound scratchy and a bit airy. I was simply not pleased with the sound output from a 3 (as in, Megaboom 3). The app is whack. It does not offer much. The least it could do is let me turn the thing on with the app (oh, but you can turn it off with the app though). By the way, I also tried to connect my phone to it while it was off, to see if that would avoid me having to get up... Nope. Oh well. The app allows you to connect a playlist to the Boom, but only using Deezer. Since I am not joining Deezer that is a moot point. Also, for some reason the serial number in my app is different than the serial number of my Boom. Am I trippin'. Anyway... The top controls - Bluetooth, Magic, Power, that's it. Magic (I don't know if I'm saying the name right) allows you to pause, play and skip (you can skip a song AND you can skip a playlist). But guess what you can't do with that magic button, go back. I don't plan on getting up to push physical buttons, but if you can use Magic to skip forward, then why not back? Lord, I must be crazy for wanting to hear my jam (or a few jams back) again. I truly had always wanted one of these, but what a let down. It is not the worst thing (sound wise) ever, okay. I just have certain expectations when it comes to sound quality, depending on the product (especially when it comes to higher models). If I am missing something hear, please let me know immediately. I could say, "If you are not bothered by sound quality then go for it." But not even. If you are not bothered by sound quality then spend less money elsewhere. I would not recommend this Megaboom 3 at this price. Shoot, you know what, I read this thing is waterproof and not water resistant. I did not test it, but that alone would be cause for consideration for those who want to use this for pool parties. Peace.

Mixed: Great at Low-Med Volume | Poor High Volume
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ultimate Ears - MEGABOOM 3 Portable Bluetooth Speaker is a mixed bag. Easy to set up and use. It provides exceptional sound at low to mid volume uses. I used it for background music at a recent backyard gathering and it was a real joy. However, the bass (which sounds perfect at low to mid volume) distorts at high volume. It sounds like an old ripped subwoofer. Using the app to bring the bass down at high volume helped a little, but then the sound became thinner. On the other hand, at low to mid volume, increasing the bass worked very well. The Ultimate Ears - MEGABOOM 3 Portable Bluetooth Speaker will work fine for my needs since I'm not into high volume. However, since it fails when turned up, I can't recommend it. Especially since the marketing presents it as a high-volume party machine.

Good Speaker with a Flaw
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a UE Megaboom 3 from Best Buy to pair with my Boom 3 to have a stereo set-up at my computer. I started watching a movie on Netflix with the two speakers paired together in Party Up mode, and was shocked to discover that the audio was out of sync with the video. I called Logitech support and after troubleshooting the issue with a customer service rep I was informed that in their frequently asked questions they state that Ultimate Ears does not recommend Party Up mode when streaming videos due to this kind of delay issue. In other words, these speakers do not (at the time of writing this review) offer a stereo option when watching video. I also found that I had to perform a hard reset in order to eliminate the delay in the Megaboom 3 after using it in Party Up mode, even if the Boom 3 was turned off. I consider the inability of these speakers to pair and play in stereo, without delay, when streaming movies to be a serious flaw, and will probably be returning either this speaker or the Boom 3 (probably the Megaboom 3 because it's $50 more and I can't tell a huge difference in audio quality between the two when listening to music), as I don't know why I need a pair of speakers if they can't play in stereo all of the time. If you're not planning to buy a pair of speakers for stereo than the Megaboom 3 and Boom 3 are both great speakers, but if you want to be able to stream movies with audio in stereo, I would recommend looking into a different brand.

Good speaker, glaring issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is true that the sound is alright, it is able to play really loud or quiet, there's tons of costomizability. However, compared to other speakers i've used, it sounds more muffled, it has more connection issues, and in general i just don't much like the sound. Even turning the treble all the way up sounds too bassy for me. It makes voices annoying to hear. another issue is the comnection. as soon as i connect my phone and for the next minute or so, it's spotty. same happens when i start music after not playing some for a bit.

Awful speaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got 2 speakers (black version) at the local Best Buy store. I was able to try the sound in the prototype on the stand and to be honest I was impressed. Obviously they choose a song where the speaker excels and the environment at the store is not the best to try a sound quality. At home was another story. Sound is loud but not clear at all. Need an app to connect and the app is deficient to say the least. When I was pairing the two identical speakers, it took forever... only have to add the 2 speaker in the app trough your phone but then you se them trying to connect a picture of you speaker goes up then a time circle appears, then down to the initial position, then up and froze, then down again, not a smooth pairing an UE claim to be able to pair different UE speakers. Once paired the headaches started. The speakers don't stay paired for long, even if you are using them. They stop for no reason. I tried in stereo mode and just the double mode, same crappy results. Worst is the lack of synchronization when you are watching YouTube videos or a Netflix movie, that gets worse when you added the second speaker, the add con not handle this and at this price point this is unacceptable. Is annoying watch videos like this, specially music videos. I had to reset both of this speakers many times as the continue to fail. One of them only charged 80%. I was disappointed and I returned them. For $200 there is a lot of speakers that out perform this Megaboom3. On the other side I love how it looks. Sound is not 360° as the claim but sound dispersion is pretty even.

Great Portable Speaker, Awful Muddy Bass.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had a previous Boom and Boom 2, decided to upgrade to a Megaboom 3 cause I hadn’t had a portable speaker in a while. Out of the box this speaker sounds good in the mids and treble but has such bad muddy bass. It sounds awful. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth for a brand new speaker out of the box. Just like the portability of the previous speakers, IP rating and sound quality but this one sounds off. Don’t know if it’s a manufacture defect or I got a bad speaker but I’ll probably look elsewhere next time.
