Bottom Line: The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 2 delivers solid audio performance for the yard, beach, or pool. Pros: Great sound including hefty bass; long battery life; IP67 rating; nice design Cons: Some audio distortion at high volumes using boost mode; it’s just a speaker (no digital assistants, mic support, etc.) Review: The Wonderboom 2 (herein WB2) is a really great sounding speaker for its size, and it definitely shines in an outdoor environment. My main use is to listen to music while I do yard work, and the WB2 does a surprisingly good job filling my backyard with music. I find the bass to be a bit too beefy if up close, but that means the bass will also come through if listening from afar. Design-wise, the WB2 features a loop if you wanted to connect it to a clip or bag while on an outdoor activity. It also has an IP67 rating, which means its dust tight and can withstand temporary immersion in water - perfect for bringing to a sandy beach or the next to the pool. The unit’s cylindrical body hosts control buttons on top, giant volume buttons on the front, and a boost mode button on the bottom. Connecting and using the unit was simple enough that I could ignore the instructions printed on the lid of the box. Although I really like the sound of the WB2, I found boost mode underwhelming. Switching boost mode on noticeably drops out the bass, but I didn’t really hear any increase in mids or highs when I was close or far from it. Additionally, pumping the volume higher in boost mode led to some audio crackling and distortion. It’s likely a feature that I’ll ignore, since the volume is fine for me on normal mode. Additionally, there are no other features present except great sounding audio (no Google Home, Alexa, etc.).

First, I would have to say that I was impressed with the sound quality that came from this speaker....especially for the size. The only complaint that I had was that it is unable to pair with my existing Megaboom3.
