This is one of those speakers that will surprise you. In the box is the speaker, a charging cable, and paper (likely instructions, didn't bother reading them). This speaker is amazingly simplistic, you get volume controls and a boost function, the end. I am happy with this because its a waterproof speaker, I want something that will survive the boat, the lake, maybe a camping trip and sound good doing it. On to the important things, this speaker is advertised to be rugged, so I tossed it in my backpack for a day of hiking. I managed to drop it twice, once even kicking it like the star soccer player I am not. Even after punting it 5 ft, no issues in sound or in appearance. Then later that night, when my child used it as a coaster for their sweaty drink, still no issues. As far as setup goes, I can pair it from across the campsite (~30') and either use my phone or the controls on the speaker to change volume and song selection. The boost is located on the bottom, so its not an accidental on / off. I could tell a difference and found myself using boost when we were at the lake or other areas with a lot of ambient noise. While camping, no boost was needed. The audio quality is as expected, its not high end, but the treble and bass have the same amount of depth and songs don't sound flat as they do on many basic speakers of this size. I'm not sure the exact battery life, as I haven't had it playing nonstop for a day, however I have used it 9 hours in a day (different times, not continuous) and still had battery life for the 2 hour hike back. So far I charge this about once a week, using it about 15 hours each charge. Overall I can't say enough good things about the durability and functionality of this speaker. I'm going to go buy a second one to use the pairing feature for use at pool parties.
