The playmat has a nicely stitched edge that doesn't catch cards but the foiling effect of the mat was far under what my expectations were. The foil is a speckled, glitter-like foiling over the entire mat making the surface sheen and giving it a matte-like surface. I prefer the normal cloth(?) material since it allows cards to glide across the surface. Many other foiled playmats will usually do a flat foil on accents and effects to add a layer of depth to the art. UltraPro has done foiled mats like that before (MagicCon 2025 Las Vegas; Cloud, Sephiroth, and a Secret Lair Lightning Bolt art to my recollection). Again, my expectations were of that kind of foiling, not whatever this is. Wasn't able to see the mat in-person and I can't rate it less than 4 stars since it simply wasn't what I expected, not that it's a bad product other than card-sliding.

This playmat is simply stunning. I'm not the biggest chocobo fan in general, but I was amazed by the holofoil art specifically and decided to pick it up. It's also stitched! That makes it a great playmat in all regards.

Really cool playmat. Nice quality and the holographic details are nice extra little detail . It’s a little more harder to pick up raw cards on it than a non foil play mat but nothing that card sleeves won’t fix. I use mine for playing and openings and it looks great doing both . I would definitely recommend!

Ultra Pro with another quality playmat, and this one is shiny! The colors are vibrant and will stand out against your cards. Your cards won't get lost in the art not that most mats do, but I have seen some out there that have. The mat itself is smooth enough that it won't damage your cards. Ultra Pro always sets the standard. I play all sorts of TCGs, and I wouldn't mind bringing this to any tournament. There is a black chocobo variation out there too.

Great quality playmat. It's even a little bit sparkly! Kweh! His face is ridiculously delightful.

Happy with the colors; it looks pretty similar to online images. I was worried because people say the black chocobo variant has poor contrast. Only gripe is that $35+ is a bit too much for a mass produced playmat.
