Love seeing the old westerns. Can't go wrong with Clint Eastwood.

The new 4K UHD disc of Unforgiven is a flawless presentation of one of the greatest Westerns ever made. The video quality shows an exceptional amount of fine detail and texture in the dusty landscapes, gnarled wood and beat-up clothing worn by the characters. Most importantly for a movie that has multiple scenes set at nighttime or in darkened rooms, the detail in the shadows is easily visible -- the picture doesn't just turn into black mush the way it might with a lesser-quality video transfer. And while the color palate is fairly subdued, as most Westerns are, shots of sunsets explode with color due to the 4K disc's HDR. Anyone with even a passing interest in Westerns should watch Unforgiven. The performances from Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman, Gene Hackman and Richard Harris are note-perfect, as is Eastwood's direction. It's as good as people say it is.
