There are for sure better movies. I should have spent more time pickinga family movie out.

I'm usually immune to special effects--over-the-top ones are cliche and generally get in the way of the rest of the movie---provided there IS a rest of the movie, minus the special effects--but not this time! My heart was in my mouth more times than I could count. It's easy to forget you're watching a movie. The acting is top-notch, the characters are engaging, and it has an almost documentary treatment that makes the movie situation feel immediate, and real! See it.

This is an awesome movie. My son saw it in the theatre and told me I would love it. Missed it in the theatres but finally watched last night on DVD. Performances by Chris Pine and Denzel Washington were great, but Rosario Dawson steals the show. I really wish I could see it on the big screen. The special effects are exceptional. You can’t take your eyes away and finding yourself asking, how did they do that?

This movie is a great non-stop action movie with great acting and a well written script. Denzel Washington is always an amazing actor and a relatively unknown Chris Pine works well as the rookie conductor. The story is exciting, though the writers can't take all the credit for that given that this is based on actual events. I do have to take issue with some of the camera work. There seems to be way too many camera shots that spin around the focus of attention, to the point that it gets a little dizzy. Though this one flaw seems minor in comparison to the rest of the film, and not enough to lose a star overall.

This movie was a an excellent action movie. Keeps you on the edge of your seat once the runaway train gets loose. Worth having on blu ray for picture and sound. The sub woofer on a home theater system gets a good workout on this movie. What I did like also was the director Tony Scott decided to not use no CGI effects when he did the movie. All the action scenes with the train crashes looked more realistic. The movie was based on the events of a true story. If your an action movie fan pick this one up you will not be disapointed.

I have watched this movie 8 times already. I had model trains when I was a kid. "Chick or Guy" you will love this movie. One of the best that I have purchased in years.

Non stop action and drama, interesting plot line, based on a true story. It's a satisfying and inspiring build to a kick butt ending. This is a definate must see, will keep you interested to the end, and definately a winner for Denzel fans!

This is a great ride....no CG on the trains and it keeps you on the edge of your seat....kind of surprising if you just realize it takes place on a train. Well worth adding it to your collection. Great helicopter work.

although i like the stars, it is the train that makes the movie... how about that... a non-speaking entity making a cinematic debut in excellent fashion... maybe all movies should have a non-entity star

Like another reviewer, I had seen this in the movie, and had been catching it on tv, but decided it was definitely something I wanted in my dvd library. Got it for $5 in stores, great deal!

Great movie...simple plot, exciting drama .A movie with no inappropriate content (other than a little language), easy to follow, and great actors.

Did not realize this movie was based on real life events until a friend from Pittsburgh gave a brief history of the event. Loved the movie and was glad to see that it' s family friendly!
