I would suggest going the route of buying a prepaid card for any gaming system. You run less risk of having you credit card info exposed and you know home much you have to spend right away.

Super easy to add to your Steam "wallet". I use it to make purchases on my account and then gift them to my son's account. It is a great way to control the purchases for both accounts.

When the steam sale comes up you'll buy this card. Unlike other prepaid cards this one doesn't have bad scratch off stuff on the back that makes you accidentally erase the numbers.
