Very interesting to see Ryan Reynolds at the beginning of his career but beyond that pretty much a Animal House rehash. Still a bit entertaining but nothing beyond that. Great to rent from time to time, but regret making that final purchase.

I enjoyed watching this more , now , than when it first came out . But I feel it’s missing the caring eye to go over it. It’s very average in every way but it’s still the best it’s ever looked.

I got this for my GF as a gift, I do not enjoy this corny movie.

It took me a year to go back to eating doughnuts after this movie. Still gives me chills just thinking about it. But if you haven't seen this awesome movie yet, then you have no idea what I'm talking about (and maybe its better that way?). As one of Reynolds' first big movies, Van Wilder does nothing if capture the unique experience of college life. Have you ever had that one friend who was great with the ladies and could seemingly get away with everything? That's Van Wilder! While his character may be a little far-fetched, he is no less hysterical in everything he does. Whether its schmoozing his way around campus, or getting even with frat boys (DOUGHNUTS!), Reynolds displays an attitude that few can acheive without going over the top. The only thing that really slows the movie down is the development of his relationship with Reid's character. Dipping into borderline romantic comedy territory, it doesn't quite fit with the flow of the movie, but the experience remains positive nonetheless. Any way you slice it, Van Wilder is one of those movies that's great to watch whenever you need a laugh!

This is the only National Lampoon movie that I have actually found to hold a real plot and maintain a certain level of its' own dignity. Ryan Reynolds plays Van Wilder, the hero of the college who refuses to let himself graduate, who is forced to find a way to pay for his own way through school when his wealthy father "cuts him off". He eventually meets up with a newspaper columnist named Gwen (Tara Reid) and falls head over heals for her and her goal for him to succeed... In my opinion this is a great movie and the only good National Lampoon movie to this date.

Anything Ryan Reynolds touches turns to gold! and this is definitely apparent in Van Wilder! National Lampoon definitely broke through the squeaky clean image from the Chevy Chase vacations in this one, with a college bachelor majoring in parties running the show! Great scenes, will definitely keep you laughing!!! Recommended for mature audiences.

This movie still holds up even now. The Blu-ray version just makes it all the more fun. Some of the gross-out humor is even more gross this time. I could not even watch the pastry scene! The film transferred very well to HD, with only the occasional noticeable grain (but that was only once or twice).

Unfortunately, National Lampoons has had a downward spiral from great films like Animal House to many poorly done direct to video flops. However, this is not one of those flops. This is probably the last truly funny film that National Lampoons has produced and I would recommend it.

I upgraded my Blu-Ray copy to the 4K UHD and can tell a definite uptick in detail, Dolby Vision is always welcome and the movie is pretty funny too. Recommend this one a lot.

I like this movie. It's not great but it's fun. The main performances are pretty good, and the DVD includes many special features. Recommended.
