    The film doesn't take itself too seriously. Like most films, there are many predictable elements. What I wasn't expecting was to enjoy Venom's efforts to be funny as well as exciting. It's not Citizen Cane but it does a great job of serving as an escape from the daily grind. Critics panned this movie but I don't agree that it is a bad movie. Not every movie is to teach, preach, or explore personal or moral questions of the day. There is a such thing as watching a movie to be entertained for 2 hours. Sometimes, that is more than enough. The effects are good and the story line, while predictable, is enough to hold the film up. It serves as a decent escape.
