Fantastic record player! We got our daughter (14 years old at the time) an entry record player a couple years ago. She loves the warmth and "feel" of the sound of classic records. When the opportunity came for this Victrola Automatic Turntable, I jumped at it. It was a great opportunity for an upgraded record player for her. When we recieved it, I watched her up-pack it. Initial thoughts, this is a quality record player and a good choice for entry level to mid-high end user. Great standard consumer grade quality. As for set-up, it must be pretty easy. I let her go upstairs and within 15 minutes, she had it fully operational. She loved the ease of set-up and ease of use. As an American teenage girl, you should not be shocked to know that she LOVES that one American artist who is dating that one guy who plays for the football team in Kansas City... Well, after HOURS and HOURS and HOURS of continuoius listening to said artist, she LOVES this record player. End of the day, I would reccomend this player. This would make for a great gift for others or as a reward to yourself if you would like to enter into the classic world of old-school records.

I just got my Victrola Automatic Turntable about a week ago and have been testing it out. First off, it's been forever since I’ve even been around a record player, let alone used one. Having this turntable show up brought me back to simpler times—like digging through my dad's endless crates of old albums. Unboxing was easy, especially if you follow the manual. Just be sure to actually read it! In the box, you'll find the turntable, the platter, a 45 adapter, power adapter, and RCA adapter. Setup was pretty simple, though I did struggle a bit when trying to extend the band to the gold post so I could set the turntable in place. Took a few tries, but I finally got it. Once the platter’s on, just plug in the RCA cable in the back and flip the switch to Line or Phono, depending on your setup. Then you’re ready to go! Grab one of your favorite records and gently place it on the turntable. Hit the power button on the front panel. A white ring means it’s connected through the RCA cable, and a blue ring means you’re using Bluetooth—which is super cool! The Bluetooth feature lets you place the Victrola anywhere without worrying about extra cables or wires. I hooked it up to my JBL MA710 receiver via RCA, set it to Phono, and started it up. The play button starts the first track automatically. At first, I thought the up and down buttons were for skipping tracks (I imagined the arm would lift and move forward or back), but it turns out those buttons just lift the arm and return it to its base. There’s also a repeat button that replays the current track, which I think is why I assumed the other buttons were for skipping tracks. You can also change the album size and playback speed with a couple of switches. Overall, I’m loving this turntable. Once I double-checked the manual, it was super easy to use. It’s a great addition to my home theater and audio setup!

The Victrola Automatic Bluetooth Turntable model VPT-800 is probably one of the simplest electronic items I’ve ever connected. The platter is the only item to be installed. The manual is very descriptive with pictures describing what to do. It connected with my Bluetooth speakers easily. Each time I turn the turntable on it reconnects to the speakers right away. The Victrola Automatic Bluetooth Turntable has a great feature…repeat. With the repeat button the turntable will just replay the side of the album you are listening to over and over. While you are busy doing the dishes or whatever the turntable just keeps going. Thus, no untimely breaks in music. Nice! One more thing I think is just fabulous, no app required! Two additional items; troubleshooting and support. When I first put the platter on the turntable and pulled the belt over the motor, it wasn’t spinning. It took all of two minutes to take the platter off and figure out the belt had fallen off the platter. Easy fix. Finally, I called customer support. Availability of support is an important factor. I was told to leave a message, and support would return my call. I left a message. I was very pleasantly surprised when I had a return call in less than 30 minutes and the support representative was polite, helpful and knowledgeable.

    Good, simple controls

The Victrola Automatic has been designed with conveniently located controls, and the RCA cable jacks are easy to access and connect. i haven't owned a turntable for many years, and the automatic I had experience with was an old record changer that played LPs. I use the turntable with home stereo powered speakers which also have TV, CD/DVD and a bluetooth adapter. Although the bluetooth worked during setup, I prefer using the wired connection with some high quality cables. Automatic operation has worked great. To play a selected track, use the tonearm lift button to gently raise the arm so you can manually move it above the spinning disc to the track you want to start playing and press the button again. I'm enjoying the sound and the replacement stylus to fit the AT cartridge is popular and readily available when you need to replace a worn stylus. When I used a strobe test disc to check the speed it was right on 33 1/3. There is a bit on creaking I noticed when the dust cover is raised or lowered. Overall it's an easy to use, modern turntable with a functional looking design.

    Low quality record player

Assembly was easy and quick. There’s a rubber like material that you need to loop on so that it allows for turning the records. That slipped out a couple times causing the turntable to not function. Another issue was connecting to Bluetooth speakers. Tried 3 different speakers, multiple times, even “forget this device” and trying to connect and it just wouldn’t. I was able to connect to one specific Bluetooth speaker. Connected to speaker with proper wires and that worked fine. The victrola is light in weight and the components such as the arm with the needle and other parts feel low quality. Switches on the top side allow for changing from 33 to 45 rpm. There’s also a power button in front to which it allows to connect to Bluetooth. You can tell it’s trying to connect to Bluetooth because the light changes from white to blue. The play button will cause the arm to lift and automatically move over to the record and play will begin. Press it while it’s playing and the arm lifts and moves back gently to its seated position. There’s a repeat function for those who want continuous play. The cover should be lifted by both sides so you have even wear and tear and support. While it seemed of low quality, I would recommend it to those who want to travel light, don’t want to carry heavier, more expensive equipment, and to anyone wanting something with an easy setup (providing the speaker you have is friendly with it).

Hello friends and welcome to my review of the new Victrola VPT-800 automatic turntable. First off this is a well packaged unit that arrived in perfect condition. Upon opening the box i was surprised that the turntable platter was separately packaged. This is done on higher end turntables, but not usually seen in entry level units like this one. Let me be clear this is an entry level turntable. I think someone looking for a table like this would be a beginner or a young person. With that being said, I think a lot of people will find this unit to be a perfectly capable record player. The new victrola has some nice features built in that make this unit unique. One thing I like a lot is the blue-tooth capability. Victrola calls this feature Vinylstream. I like it because, It's easy to connect anywhere. And you don't need wires to connect it. No high end turntables will have this feature, due to the fact that those units sound better plugged in by cable. Due to the fact that the new Victrola 800 does have a built in pre-amp the table is not very revealing. This can be a plus or minus depending on your gear. If you play this thru blue-tooth, you can barely hear any surface noise on the record. Even with scratched records and dirty ones. I tried this for myself and was surprised with the noise being so low. However, this means you are not getting everything out of the grooves with this unit. Like i said before , this is a entry level piece. And it sounds pretty good for what it is. Now for some cons to consider if you are thinking of going this route. First the tone arm does not sit level, it sits down lower at the stylus. Also there is no counter weight on the end of the tone arm. So the tracking force of the tone arm is unknown. This is unfortunate, because most will feel that their record will be destroyed over time, and they would be correct. If you purchase this unit to start your record journey, then I recommend using it for cheap records, or used ones. I would not recommend that someone use this player for valuable or rare records. In closing if you try this and find that you enjoy the vinyl experience, Then when possible in the future upgrade to a better turntable. One with a counterweight at the end of the tone arm and has anti skate controls etc.. Do I recommend this new turntable from Victrola ? Yes i do, however I can't give it five stars due to no counter weight or anti skate controls.

Works Great with Sonos - Must Wire Network!

Bought this for my daughter to use with a Sonos in her room and it delivered once I sorted the network setup. I had to place the speaker and the turntable on the same mesh extender and use the local wired connection so they would communicate without delay. If one was not on that node the audio lagged, so wiring both to the extender solved it and playback felt instant. After that, setup was simple and the controls are easy to understand, so dropping a record and getting music going takes only a moment. Build quality feels solid and the needle tracks precisely, which gives clean sound with no odd wobble in pitch. The speed options keep records playing at the correct rate, and the platter starts and returns smoothly so it is friendly for a first vinyl setup. The dust cover opens and closes without wobble, and the whole unit looks neat on a shelf. For the sound, ease of use, and sturdy feel, the price for the quality is good, and I have no regrets with this purchase.

Brings Back the Old Days, Beautifully

I was a radio DJ years ago and I have hundreds of records. Sometimes I’d find it easier to just look for a song I wanted to listen to online, but with this new Victrola automatic turntable, it’s just as easy to hear your music the old-fashioned way, and somehow more rewarding. Everything about this turntable is automatic. It plays both 33’s and 45’s, so you just press the buttons which tell the turntable what speed and size your record is, then place it on the turntable and press “play.” The tone arm lifts, and it gently drops the needle to begin your listening. At the end of the record, the turntable stops, and the tonearm goes back to it’s resting place safely. It’s as easy as listening to an MP3. It connected quickly and easily to several of my Bluetooth speakers, and connecting to wired speakers with RCA cables was simple also. It was a perfect turntable to give to my grandkids. They had never even seen a turntable up close, and I gave it to them with a vinyl Taylor Swift album so they’d understand the way grandpa used to listen and play current songs on the radio. They loved it. The turntable speed was right on with no ‘wow and flutter’ than I could hear, my music sounded great. Now if you remember the days of Garrard turntables and Shure cartridges, this won’t equal those, but at less than $200 this turntable is less costly than just the needle and cartridge was in the old days, and that’s before inflation. But for the price it’s a pretty good and modern device that you or your kids will enjoy using..

Speeds Up & Slows Down After A Few Minutes

This has good sound, which is why it's not one star. It plays the correct speed for awhile, then slows down or speeds up. It's usually slowing down. I've toyed with the belt and then it works for awhile again before slowing down. If I had the box and stuff I'd return it, but I'm stuck fixing it. I'm lucky if I get through one side of an album.
