First of all, I love purchasing and listening to records. So when I saw this item coming out I had to jump on it. I soon realized however, that it seems to be a step back in the portable music market. When you think about the progression, portability is the main reason why records went away in the first place. Tapes, CDs, MP3s, then eventually streaming came to be the convenient method of listening to music on the go and when traveling. So why would you want to lug around a record player with a stack of vinyl's with you when you are out and about or traveling? It is more of a gimmick if you ask me, but I could see a few scenarios in which portability can be useful. One scenario would be if a relative digs out their old record collection but haven't owned a record player for several years or decades. This could lead to a great bonding moment. You can dust off their old records and have a great time. Another scenario would be if you are a record/vinyl aficionado and have a friend or friends that are curious and want to experience it for themselves. You can take it with you and show off your taste and knowledge of the vinyl record. Now on to the performance and features. The record player is very compact and has a convenient guitar strap. I hope that the internals of the player remain intact if it is carried around for a long trip or walk. You pop open the case and push the big button/volume know and you are ready to go. I played a brand new vinyl on it and I was pleasantly surprised. It sounded very good and I was pretty happy with the sound. The speakers are good, not great. It does get loud too when you need it to, but they sound quality is not there. I then put it into pairing mode and connected it to a big Sony Bluetooth speaker I have. Wow, a whole different experience. It sounded crisp and clear and with no pops or hisses or anything. The record was new, but I feel that the player produced the sound at a very high level. I believe it uses an entry level Audio Technica stylus. But a dedicated speaker is the way to go. You can also have the record player receive Bluetooth and you can use the player's speakers to stream off your phone or other music device. I would not recommend this unless you are at said relative or friend's house and you have exhausted your record collection and want to stream music and have literally no other speaker to do so. Overall I think that this is a really nice record player. The built in speakers are nice to have so that it is an all in one self contained unit. A step above the suitcase players but below a nice day to day stationary record player. It would be hard to be disappointed in this player since it does everything as advertised and yet can be carried anywhere you want to take a record player. The questions is when would you?

Really Nice Battery Operated Record Player

I was a radio DJ years ago and I own about 1000 albums and 45’s. The “Revolution GO” is fantastic for me, and you too if you own “vinyl.” I love two of its features. The first is the rechargeable battery which will power the player for an amazing 12 hours at medium volume. Take it with you to the park and listen to some tunes you have on vinyl which maybe you haven’t transferred to digital yet. The second feature is its Bluetooth capability to transfer its audio to another sound system instead, turning off its internal speakers. (Conversely, you can also use the player’s speakers to listen to audio from another Bluetooth device such as your phone. So if you’ve listened to all the 45’s you’ve brought with you on a picnic, you can listen to music from your phone through your Revolution GO portable.) But most important, as former DJ, I’m very sensitive to turntable defects, such as ‘off speed’ or wow and flutter. If the Revolution GO failed in that aspect, none of these features would matter. The great news is I noticed none of those problems with this turntable. My records sounded as pure as from a good digital source. I liked the turntable’s premium features, like the ‘lift lever’ which raises the arm off your record and then is ‘damped’ to lower it safely back down, protecting the record and the stylus. I was also happy to see that although the stylus should last 300 hours, when it is time to replace it, the Audio Technica cartridge is available at a low cost at Best Buy. Often on turntables you buy today, they’re impossible to find if you need a replacement. I found very few negatives. The unit is kind of bulky to carry around, it weighs 6 ½ pounds, and even though it has a comfortable strap, you’ll know its there. Second, it has an ‘auto stop’ feature which shuts the turntable off at the end of your record. It worked perfectly on LP’s, but when I played a 45 it turned the turntable off before the record ended. It’s not a big deal though because you can turn off the ‘auto stop’ feature and then you’re fine. Bottom line, I love having a portable record player. It’s great to take to my grandkids’ house and show them how we used to listen to our music back in the ‘olden days.’

When I saw the description of The Victrola Revolution Go portable rechargeable turntable I really had trouble imagining what its role might be today. Was it a toy for the kids or something walkman-like for vinyl records? When I got mine, I charged it up, turned it on and played a Miles Davis album through the built-in speakers. The built-in speakers sounded pretty good. You can pair your phone via Bluetooth to the turntable and listen to music from your phone on the built-in speakers too! Next, I paired the turntable to the soundbar (with sub and surrounds) I use with my TV. All I can say is WOW, this sounds great! My wife came in and asked why I was listening to music loud and I told her that I was playing with the new portable turntable. She pointed at it and asked if we were really listening to "that thing". I told her yes, from it to the TV soundbar system. I've tried it outside with a smaller Bluetooth speaker and it does great there as well. The turntable has RCA connections and a mini-jack for headphones that I have not yet tried. There is a speed selection switch, an auto off selector switch, a queing control lever, a 45 adaptor and the main control button/dial. The top cover detaches to become an LP holder. While it's really cool to take a couple of albums, this turntable and perhaps a Bluetooth speaker to the patio while you hang out there, it's hard for me to imagine me taking this and a pile of albums somewhere for some portable entertainment. I will, however, Bluetooth this to my TV soundbar system and enjoy great sound in my den. This sounds as good Bluetoothed to my soundbar system as any turntable and stereo system I've had over the decades. Definitely not a toy!

    The best portable option.

This turned out to be a category which was a bit trickier than I expected - in terms of comparing the offerings. I am a bit of an audiophile and the specs listed for portable units are, shall we say, scant. At $200 it will fool no one in to thinking that they are in a concert hall. But for what it is, the sound is pretty good. A less obvious virtue is that the Revolution Go has a magnetic cartridge that tracks at about .3 grams. That seems unimpressive when compared to the .04 grams my AT home turntable tracks at, but it turns out to about around half the weight of its cheaper competitors. This not only improves the sound quality, it also means you would be digging ditches in your beloved LPs.

This portable record player has surprisingly amazing sound! I pulled out some of my old albums (40-50 years old), thinking they would not sound very good - but was amazed at how good the quality was. That, combined with the portability of this player, earned all of the five stars. We will be using this a lot - and our records will no longer lay around gathering dust. I highly recommend this Victrola.

Wow was I pleasantly surprised with this Victrola portable record player. It's compact, lightweight so very portable. But what surprised me was how good my old vinal sounded! It has a setting for 33 or 45, unfortunately I got rid of all those 45's years ago. Still have plenty of 33s though! I have a large garage/work area. This portable payer is great because I can listen to my old vinal records while I'm working on a project. It doesn't even need to be plugged in (after charging). Really great item.

We’ve been wanting a record player for quite some time and this one was intriguing because it was portable. We decided to give it a shot and I’d definitely give 5 stars. The sound quality is great and it’s very easy to use. The Bluetooth speaker function is a really nice bonus. The lid doubles as a display holder for the records which is cool and the design is super compact and clean. Overall I’d highly recommend it, especially if you are in the market for a portable one.

I have quite a few old vinyl albums that I've never converted to digital and which aren't available on CD so this seemed like an ideal way to get them converted. It worked fine! I'm not sure if I'll ever use the carrying strap, but it's there if I ever have the urge to spin stax of wax in the boondocks. The bluetooth pairing was easy to use.
