Install was a Mess

They reversed pomarity on the wiring and they left a mess with the stucco. They came back out and said I needed an electrician because my transformer was not producing enough current. Luckily, the electrician who I called turned out to be a neighbor from down the street. We spoke on the phone and he said the transformer is fine since we lived on new houses with correct power supply. He said he uses same ring camera and it had to be another issue. He said to look at wiring which I did and I fixed the issue myself.

Total tech phone chat THE WORST

They have people that are not in the United States abusive stupid and horrible. A simple call to set up an appointment is beyond common sense. You get told you have to pay $100 right then it’s impossible to set up an appointment you were kept on the phone repeating your name your phone number and then they ask you for your name and phone number five minutes later it’s horrible. The chat line is horrible. Everything about total tech help line is horrible.

Ring doorbell

I've had to turn both off because I was getting too many "alerts" in my area. Now all I have for this expensive purchase and installation is a doorbell!

9/10 GeekSquad technicians r incompetent! Bad svc

The appointments were worthless and a waste of my time and $100 payment. The last technician, not a Geek Squad technician who came finally knew how to install it well. This was an unacceptably time-consuming and an agonizing experience with Geek Squad and I am upset about! If zero or negative stars was possible to rate with, Geek Squad deserves that. I am shocked by the horrible service and am explicit about sharing this with others I know, both personally and on social media, Facebook, Yelp, Etc…

First of two Geek Squad service calls on the Ring2
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Ring 2nd generation doorbell on 7/20, had my electrician install it on 9/11. Seemed to work OK at first, but even though it was hardwired the battery kept losing power, the live screen would not load, it did not detect motion all the time and if someone came to my front door, I was not notified on my cell phone. Spent 21/2 hours on the phone 1/15 with three different Ring techs and the unit has not responded to us pulling in and out of our driveway yesterday or today. I would not recommend this device to anyone.

Install

No one called or showed up on the scheduled date. The only negative after rescheduling, is that the doorbell chime is barely audible. The installer said that is the way it is but he didn't seem to want or know how to troubleshoot.

Geek Squad never showed up for three appointments

I took off from work on three separate occasions to assist the representative. They never showed up. Today's appointment, the third, was scheduled for the 8-12 pm slot. At 12, I called the GS dispatcher and they said they would be there in twenty minutes. Three hours later, I called again. They called the installer and they told me that the supervisor said they would be there in twenty minutes. Two hours later I am writing this and no one arrived. Someone should dispatched to handle this immediately and I should be entitled to compensation and or other measures to compensate for this mistreatment. I normally have positive experiences and references for Geek Squad

Did not have the proper training

He arrived unprepared not having the appropriate tools. He left for a few hours, came back with another technician to help him. Also he did not use all screws including the security screws, he took the screws and tool with him. The tech basically did not know how to install a ring doorbell. He needed proper training.

The person they sent over was clearly intoxicated and claimed they installed the product correctly. This was in December. Now it is April and I attempted to turn on my AC and it did not work. I called a local HVAC company and the technician came out and said that the thermostat was not only installed incorrectly but it was not at all compatible with my system and I would need to get a different thermostat. I have attempted to contact Best Buy to resolve this issue but I have been unable to do so and now I am having to spend more money to make sure my AC system is usable. Don’t ever use Geek Squad!

Terrible

Now the doorbell goes off every 10 min and restarting in setup mode. I had to personally disconnect it. I reached out to him to see if he could come back and install correctly. He said he would call me right back. After an hour I called him again and he said he was sorry but couldn’t come back today. He mentioned that tomorrow morning he would stop by , it is now tomorrow morning, I’ve texted him to confirm and he has yet to respond.

Should have done it myself

The installer seemed to think it was a bad product so we exchanged. Same problem with the second one, but we kept it because he said we might just need a new chime with more power. After reviewing the quality of the reinstall we noticed it isn't mounted properly and they drilled the bottom hole too large. Quite aggravating to not have it mounted as securely as it should be. The first install didn't have this problem. Overall the installers were not knowledgeable enough to install this properly so it took two attempts and now the mounting is jacked up. Probably because they drilled things incorrectly. So it will be even more work to get this done right. Will be calling customer service.

Outsourced customer service leads to 0 service
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have yet- to revive the install. It is not the 3rd party installer’s fault/ it’s Best Buy’s. Purchased on December 4- 2 appointments for install canceled so far - out of pocket $400- no word on whether the January 5 install will come to fruition. Customer service lines skip local stores and go straight to Singapore and those poor agents don’t have any information on product availability or local install so it’s an exercise in frustration for everyone concerned.

Issue not resolved, even though I had to pay!

They also lied to me telling me that my Total Tech membership was active and that all I had to do was call BB, get a replacement device and have it installed. On the phone with BB this am and found out none of that was true. Then was hung up on by Support person when I continued to question what could be done to resolve this issue.

Repeated calls to the salesman got me rescheduled but it is on a day I have a doctors appointment. I went into the local Geek Squad office to get it reschedulled as my appremts with the phone were unseccuful. I was told a mangaer would get back to me as they could not reschedule that day. I have not heard from anyone.

Third Party not Adequate

After 5 weeks & 26 calls to BB customer service my son ordered a new Security Screw to replace the one that installer stripped. I’m currently considering filing in Small Claims Court to get my money back.

Don’t call the Geek Squad!

They came a second time and couldn’t get it working. They told me that that there was something wrong with the doorbell but after talking to Ring. There was nothing wrong. Geek cancelled the next visit. I called and asked for a Credit for the $99 charge and they refused me. I then called Best Buy and cancelled my Best Buy Credit Card after being a customer for years.

Ask for supervisor each time never returned call. Lots of money spent at Best Buys. Requested refund for all the time spent dealing with this matter.
