Only drawback for my student was lack of multiple HDMI jacks. DVD and Cable HDMI forced us to spend well-over what an upgraded TV would have cost.

The sound is OK enough for their room but don't buy this tv if you are expecting phenomenal sound. The TV has only one HDMI port too! The TV has a decent amount of channel apps like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon on it but no where close to the app choices on an apple tv or a roku. This TV was my first smart TV purchase ever so maybe the following is just the way it is, but one of the biggest qualms i have with this unit is if you are watching a show on netflix, if you turn off the TV then come back to it later, it doesn't go back to the netflix show being watched like my apple tv does. The TV also doesn't support 5ghz wireless N which isn't a huge deal, but know that going into it. Overall, pretty OK TV for what I need it to do. I gave it a 3 out of 5 because of the lack of the picking up where you left off watching issue.

It handles my computer beautifully and also my high end video inputs through hdmi. It even has composite and component inputs to boot. If you need a tv that can serve multiple purposes while giving a great display look no further.

I just wasn't happy with the brightness levels. It seemed really dim, at least compared to one of my other monitors. I have since returned, if your looking to use just as a tv, it will probably be just fine for you.
