Average as a monitor, poor if you need it as a TV

Purchased this in early 2020 to use as a computer monitor while I worked from home. It was fine for that, but found the resolution was only adequate for that purpose. Recently moved this up to another room to use as a TV (for the first time) and I can't believe how slow it is to respond. Changing from one channel to the next takes a long 10-20 seconds. It is painful. Good thing this is not my primary TV. I will likely end up selling this if I really need a TV in that room.

    "Third World" audio

Bought this set for the 1080p rating and the (mostly) positive reviews. Picture & features were fine, and set-up was easy. HOWEVER, the audio sounds like a cheap transistor radio from the 1970s. I see Vizio is claiming this is due to the limited space for speakers, but my 24 in. Samsung has a thinner profile and FAR superior sound. My wife & I both had trouble understanding words due to the heavy emphasis on mid-range, and adjusting sound via the equalizer made only a marginal improvement. Ended up buying a cheap soundbar which made all the difference... but negated my savings (bought this on sale). Might be best if you check out a store demo before buying just to make sure you can deal with tinny & indistinct sound.

    Buyer’s remorse

I’ll start by saying there are few choices for a tv this size. The picture is fantastic and a great price. It only took minutes to install on the existing wall mount. Set up with my Dish receiver was more time consuming than my other, non-smart tv’s which I would have preferred But couldn’t find w/1080. I purchased it online and regret that, but it arrived quickly, safe and sound. And speaking of sound, the tinny, hollow sound is quite irritating. There are many sound adjustments but it doesn’t go away. The remote is very slim with very small, sensitive buttons. I use my Dish remote for everything except the sleep timer (bedroom tv). My old remote had an allocated sleep button. I could feel for the button in the dark and in 3 pushes it was set to turn off in 1 hour. This remote is difficult to use by sense of touch due to the small and barely raised buttons. For sleep timer, push menu and scroll to sleep timer, push ok, scroll down to the time interval, push ok, then exit. I realize this is only inconvenient to a small # of users but wish I had read it in a review. On occasion, an unknown button was touched and I lost my satellite viewing and it took a long time to figure out how to get back to what I was watching. I don’t use the smart features at all, so no comments about that.

Good picture, mediocre sound, slow interface

Nice picture quality. Sound is very tinny. Processor is SLOW - lots of button press lag, apps take a long time to load, freezes and hangs are pretty common. I don't expect blazing speed in a TV this small and inexpensive, but for me it's so slow as to be almost unusable unless you pick one thing to watch and stay there. Switching around between viewing options is painful.

    Great picture, lousy sound

This TV was an upgrade to an older Vizio 19" TV. The picture quality is definitely better than the old TV, but the sound quality is worse. It's like the sound is coming from an empty plastic container. I ended up in plugging in a set of amplified PC speakers into the phone jack which made an dramatic improvement. The remote is nicer than other TVs being offered, it has a keypad which many in this price range do not. Changing channels is a bit annoying with a second+ delay. The TV screen goes black, then an information bar along the top of the screen appears as does the new channel then the screen. Not the end of the world, but just annoying. The single pedestal stand usually found on other TVs has been replaced by 2 lightweight feet near each end of the TV. For most uses, this is probably OK, but for me it's an issue. I want to use it at the edge of a desk which is where my old TV was located. Before I could let the edge of the screen hang over the desk, with this style I could not. I eventually purchased a small wall mount which worked well. The smart functions are nice ( but SLOW) which includes Pluto TV which I watch quite often. One downside is the apps are pre-defined, no way to add new one's. I would have given this 4-5 stars if it wasn't for the sound quality.

Overall, not worth the money. The sound was never clear enough. And after 4 years the image turned black, after restarting the light is so dim that we can’t use it anymore. Don’t waste your money on it.

I wanted to buy a tv from a USA company (although I don’t think this tv is made in the USA) I bought this tv for my kitchen because space is reduced I can only fit a 24” tv so it took me some effort to mount it on the corner space and after a year the tv got one green line then two and now the whole bottom is full of green lines on top of that the tv sometimes does not turn on I have to unplug it and plug again so now I am looking to buy another tv but I think I am going to go with LG and I hope it last more than a year

Another good Insignia product. Love this TV

I've always had good luck with Insignia products. They're not the flashiest high-end goods, but they are well-made and dependable. Real work-horse equipment; I've had Insignia products that outlasted more expensive brands. I bought this TV on sale at a bargain price for my bedroom, and it's the perfect size. Really good picture considering it doesn't have HDR. I don't have a cable outlet in my bedroom, but it doesn't matter since it picks up multiple services via Wi-Fi. I use an Insignia flat HDTV antenna for local channels and it works just fine. It works great with my DVD player thru it's HDMI connector (it has 3). I do wish it had traditional R/L audio out jacks; it only has a headphone jack and an optical output audio jack, but that's a minor quibble. A great little set.

Free ads that appear in the middle of the screen

This television experiences frequent interruptions with free ads that appear in the middle of the screen. When attempting to close them, the screen turns black, necessitating a full device reboot. I never consented to the inclusion of such intrusive advertising. Additionally, the remote control sensitivity is so low that you must be very close for it to function properly. Furthermore, upon receiving the television, I discovered an open accounts, suggesting that the product may have been previously used and not properly verified before being resold. In summary, my experience with this television has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. I had to close my accounts, and ultimately, I chose to repurpose it as a slave screen for connecting my video camera due to its poor performance and lack of quality TV

    Hopeful but disappointed

I wanted a small 1080p TV that could double as laptop monitor since I didn’t want a separate TV and monitor. Surprisingly there are very few 24” 1080p TVs. I really wanted this TV to work but I will be returning, and here is why: 1. Viewing angle is not great at all. Color and picture look great when viewing head on. Brightness and colors fade when viewed at an angle. 2. Sound quality is terrible, tinny and grates on my ears at higher volumes. Reminds me of a clock radio I had in the 70’s. Thought about adding a sound bar but there is no digital out and I really don’t want to take up extra space on my desk anyway. 3. Tiny but bright led power light is either always off, always on, always flashing or intermittently flashing and always on. Yes, I could cover with tape but I lost confidence in the reliability of this product.

    Speakers are beyond awful

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We bought this for our newly remodeled kitchen. While the picture is quite good, the processor is slow. But that is not the critical problem. This tv has the worst speaker system ever. I mean ever. You can stand right in front of it and it is impossible to understand what is being said on the tv. And I am not interested in adding a sound bar or a speaker system for a $139 television. I have noticed other reviews complaining about the sound and Vizio's response that it is due to the thinness of the tv. My iPhone is much thinner and sounds 100 times more clear. Vizio could not have spent more than a dime on the audible system. One would be crazy to buy this piece of junk.

    Slow GUI, Buggy Software

    Posted .

Really unhappy with this TV purchase. I've never had a problem with any TV I've had in my entire life before. I purchased the Vizio because it was the only 24" that had 1080p. The screen is fine itself, but the problem is in the software for the Smart functions. The processor is just slow and therefore the GUI is laggy. There are many bugs that cause the TV to just show a black screen when you power it on. Have to unplug and reboot the thing. Had a problem with the power LED flashing incessantly. That is gone now after endless googling. I will have to purchase an Apple TV to plug into it to get rid of the horrible performance.
