Bottom line: DO NOT BUY if you will hook up an external subwoofer to the subwoofer output. This soundbar has no crossover, and sends full range of sound to subwoofer. Why is this bad? Because you will hear dialogue coming from your subwoofer regardless of phasing, and crossover settings at your sub. This makes using an external subwoofer impossible, as it makes watching TV and movies frustrating and simply awful. To fix this, I had to return, as contacting Vizio, their solution was also a recommendation to use a different product. I purchased a Yamaha ATS-1050 and problem solved. My JBL subwoofer now sounds amazing in complimenting the soundbar and adding a touch of low end sound to fill the room. No dialogue is heard through it. Plus side, if you plan to use without a subwoofer, the bar sounds great due to the fact it has a center channel which makes dialogue and vocals clear and crisp.

If your looking for an enhancement to inexpensive, tv speakers, than this soundbar is right for you. There is very little deep base, even if you place it on a floor. the sound levels are set so you can not max out loudness. Good option for novices. Frequency range tested around 120kh to 8200khz using televised programs only, no music or digitized sounds. If you want a more in depth sound, than I would recommend a more advanced system.

Just recently discovered the world of sound bars. Got myself a basic, inexpensive Insignia one a couple of months ago that turned out to be really good - fell in love with it. This Christmas, I decided to get my parents a really nice sound bar since their TV, while nice, has always suffered from pretty awful speaker quality. So I sprung for a 'better' (more expensive) sound bar, namely this Vizio one. Got it home, set it up for them, and...turns out it was a mistake. The Insignia one has great, crisp, clean-sounding audio and deep bass. This one, well...it sounded all muddy and muffled, not clear at all, even at higher volumes. I even hooked up a subwoofer to it and it didn't help. I played with the treble/center/bass adjustments, tried various inputs and media...nothing got rid of that muddy sound. So I ended up returning it and getting them another Insignia one (same model as mine) and we love it. I'd recommend passing on this one and getting a different, better one for the same or less money. (In my case, way less - the Insignia one was on sale for $59 compared to the $99 for this one. Insignia one's regular price is $99, by comparison, and this one's regular price is $179.)

This arrived quickly and was easy to install, I thought. I have it hooked up directly to my cable box and our playstation. The cable box is hooked up through the coax audio cable and the playstation is through the optical cable. When I first powered on the soundbar after it recognized the cable box it played sound right away. Later that day we watched a movie on the playstation and I changed to the optical input and there was nothing. I powered it on and off and still nothing. Finally after turning the volume all the way up the sound started playing for the movie and I was able to adjust it back down. After the movie, I had the same issue switching back to the cable box. Even now, if I turn off the tv for the night, it rarely recognizes that input and I have to turn off the soundbar and unplug the coax and reconnect it. When I power it back on it works fine. It will also just lose the audio completely while watching tv and I have to go the process again. I need to return it but it is already installed and I don't want to go through the hassle of taking it down and going to the store.

Overall good Shopping for a subwoofer now Could of paid 150 more for 5.1 but the room its in price and people that use it 179 is a great deal Xbox and blutooth sounds great

It's a nice speaker with good bass and great center sound so you can hear what people are saying on the tv very clearly. Only problem for me is the treble sounds a little off.

The Visio 3.0 improves on the regular tv sound. It also has bluetooth, so you can listen to music from your mp3 device. I think it was great value for the money spent.

I had a high end sound bar with bass box before that required a receiver. At first I was afraid this was going to be a little underwhelming. Although it doesn't have the power of the complete systems, it's surprisingly good sound and works well in an apartment/condo environment.

I was sceptical about sound bars in general (how could something so small be worth it in sound improvement? ) When it flashed at a great price, I paired it with our older 42 inch Visio, as we hated the speakers that were built in. WOW. What an improvement. Clear, crisp sound, great appearance. Although some reviewers dislike the light indicators, i find them very intuitive for setting the bass and center/outer channels up, even in the dark. The auto power off, and turn on, with the factory Visio remote, work great too. Volume works with our Comcast remote too. Well worth what we paid for sure. I wish it had an optical input.

This sound bar gives out far more sound than the TV. Highly recommended.

I am loving this little cute baby and looks great in front of my LG 4k TV... This is a must for those who dont wanna do much customizations...would recommend

I have been wanting to change to a soundbar for a while now and be able to get rid of all the wires & speakers from my surround sound system. I read all the reviews & decided to go with the Vizio bar & I am glad I did! The room has less clutter and the sound is great. I especially like that I can turn up the volume for the center speaker so I don't miss any dialogue when the background music & noise gets loud. And it was very easy to set up.

Sounds Great and does what it is suppose to do but I really feel it needs a subwoofer to go along with it. I will be returning this.

Enhances the overall experience and fills out the bottom okay, without the extra placement of a subwoofer.

I purchased this for our guest room Vizio TV. The soundbar set up quickly & the volume paired with the Vizio TV remote. The sound was great for size of the room and far better than the TV speakers. I give this produce 2 stars as the control buttons on the soundbar did not work, the remote did not work nor would it mute with the TV controller -though it recognized the volume +/- button, there was sound delay when changing channels and some channels had the sound cutting out. I tried both the Optical & A/V connectors with the same results. I tried to contact Vizio support but was not able to reach a real person to help me. I am returning this product.

Purchased this product to go with a 42" tv that had poor sound quality. Works good in our den. Only downside is remote control is difficult to use until you get used to it - not intuitive.

Good sound for the $. But it works independently from the TV. I have a new smart TV Samsung and the Visio sound bar bust be controlled by its own remote it will not sync with the TV . Another remote to keep track of and use..

I'm so glad I waited for a 3 channel sound bar. Let's face it, we spend at least a grand (at least) on our TVs and for the most part, the speakers are putrid. I used my last Vizio sound bar until it gave out and I was thrilled when I saw a 3 channel on sale. I'm glad I waited the few weeks for a 3 channel model- speech is crystal clear and the rest of the sound fills my room nicely. Love this addition to my living room.

I have purchased two of theses bars by VIZIO for my grown up children. When we set it up at my sons place as a speakers for his digital piano (CASIO which has no speakers) he started playing and immediately stopped telling me that there is about 1/2 sec delay after he pressed the piano key before he can hear sound coming out of the speakers. This does not allow him to play correctly. We switched back to speakers that he used before and there was no delay issue. Maybe watching TV and using it would not cause problems. I have not heard from my second child yet. sorry very disappointing.

After researching and reading reviews of this sound bar I decided to purchase it after going into the store and having a salesman demonstrate it. I weighed the pros and cons of the Bose system (considerably more expensive) and decided on this one. I had it installed within 5 minutes. The longest period of time to set up was setting up the step ladder to reach up under the TV above the fireplace. Made the inexpensive flat screen the builder included with the house sound like an expensive one. I'm hearing challenged (after 55 years as a musician) and this was just the ticket!!!
