Posted .Hello Julia, thanks for leaving us your feedback today. When the TV goes to a gray screen, typically it means that the TV is powered on, but the SmartCast input has not loaded. Sometimes when this happens, it might need a couple extra moments to load the input. After giving it those couple extra moments, I would then recommend to restart the TV by going to Menu>System>Reset & Admin>Reboot TV. Remote or TV locks up and I have to power down to.

Sound and picture color quality are poor

To make sure you’re getting the most out of you VIZIO TV, we’d recommend making sure your devices are connected with an HDMI cable, and are set to broadcast in 4K (2160p) or Full HD (1080p). You can also individually adjust your picture settings in the menu. For brighter rooms try using the ‘Calibrated’ setting, for darker rooms try ‘Calibrated Dark’.
