    No capability to download apps

I open this open, set it up, and look for a Charter app so I can watch TV. I subscribe to Charter. So I find no way to download any apps. I called HELP and they confirmed you cannot download any apps on this phone. You just get whatever it comes with. I was livid, put all back in the box, drove to Best Buy, waited an hour since Christmas Eve and got my money back. They really need to advertise this. Otherwise TV is good.

Do yourself a favor and buy the Samsung

The picture on this TV is fine and I have no issues with that particular aspect. That said, the user interface is confusing and incredibly laggy. Switching the input from regular cable TV to Hulu is a chore. The input menu is confusing since none of the options are clearly labeled. Moreover, you will frequently select the wrong app once you are in the smartcast menu because there is a massive delay following inputs from the remote. Why can't you access Hulu without having to enter the smarcast menu in the first place? If you have ever used a Samsung Tizen TV, you will immediately notice the difference in interface. In addition, the remote feels remarkably cheap and has a number of loose pieces rattling around inside of it despite being dropped no more than once or twice. I do not recommend this TV unless you never plan on using the "smart" TV aspect.

Hello HelpfulHank, thank you for taking time to leave us your feedback. You can rename the inputs to make them easier to recognize on the Input menu. For example, if you have a DVD player connected to the component input, you can rename that input to display “DVD Player.” Go to Menu>Input Settings to rename the inputs. If assistance is needed with your remote, don't hesitate to contact us at support.VIZIO.com and click on ‘Contact Us’. VIZIO

I've had nothing but issues with this TV. The Hulu app constantly buffers and lags. It does this with no other app aside from Hulu. Aside from Hulu, the picture will randomly freeze, absolutely nothing will work including volume and power, and I have to manually hard reset it to make it work again. Apps crash randomly as well. Aside from issues with the apps, the sound is the weirdest of any TV I've owned. It has a lot of bass, but the actual sound itself is pretty quiet. You can't really turn it up to hear the sound either because the bass will be disproportionately loud. I don't know. I do know that I'm going to get a new TV, because I'm tired of dealing with the problems this one has.

    Terrible Backlight Bleed

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Returned this the very next day after I bought it because of a huge backlight-bleed smack-dab in the middle of the screen. Appeared the second I turned the tv on for the first time. Against the black background was this glowing white circular blob that wouldn't dissipate or go away -- it looked like someone was shining a flashlight from the back of the tv. So whenever a scene of a movie had dark colors, in the middle of the screen it looks off-base brighter than the rest of the picture, and it was annoying as heck. Totally inexcusable for a brand-new TV or any TV as a matter of fact. Yes, with full backlight lighting you're sometimes going to get some "leakage" but these are usually around the sides of the TV which can be tolerable. Not in this case. It's sad when you can't just get the joy of watching a movie in 1080p high definition. And don't be fooled by Vizio's probable response that you just need to adjust the brightness. Baloney. I tried that and the bleed was still readily apparent no matter how much I decreased the brightness. Sorry, Vizio, I took this back and got a TCL instead which has shown zilch in the way of bleed.

This tv has been nothing but problems, would not recommend to anyone. Some of the apps wouldn't load on top of the endless times of freezing in the middle of watching a show. We haven't even had it for a year and we're in the process of tossing this one and getting something else.

Slow, Slow, SLOW!! Painfully SLOW! GLACIER!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First: this is a well documented problem here on reviews, and this is just one reseller, Best Buy. Check around. Two stars for the features but ONE star because of dismal performance. It is SLOW, SLOW, SLOW!! The entire UI is slow, and forget about switching between apps. HORRIBLE!! I’ve spoken to tech already and they have NO solution so don’t tell me to contact them again, Vizio. Unless you’re ready to replace this defective model?!? I’d love to have a properly running TV. Tech support’s best answer is something I brought up- to keep checking for firmware updates, but then they admitted there were no plans of any updates! What are you going to do Vizio? After already knowing this model shouldn’t have been released as it is! I’ll contact support but only to have this slug replaced.

    Persistent periodic black screen

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've been a Vizio customer for about a decade and have been pleased with everything I've owned. But this D series smartTV has given me problems from the start when I bought it about 8 months ago. A technician came out after a few months and changed the motherboard. But I still have problems, maybe 3 times a month, with the picture being black (I get sound). I need to go through the process of unplugging it, waiting, pressing the power button for 10 seconds and plugging it back in, to get the picture to appear. I shouldn't have to do this. The Vizio supervisor told me I needed to find another box like a DVR to see if there's a problem. I live alone during Covid, and it's impossible for me to borrow one as he suggested. I'm sure it's not the connection because this happens only periodically. Anyway, the tv isn't worth the trouble, and I'm disappointed that Vizio won't send me a replacement (the warranty is still good). It's the last Vizio tv or device I'll ever buy.

I should've returned it, but the 14-day window came and went. I encounter a glitch nearly every time I use this TV. It'll just turn off, an app will just shut down, the tv won't respond to the remote (or there's a severe lag). I regret making this purchase. Should've stuck with my old TV.

Terrible TV. Vizio replaced my original because it NEVER worked properly. Contacted Best Buy twice with no reply. The replacement is just as bad as the original. On light never stops blinking, picture comes on most times but not every time. I have to unplug it almost daily to reset just to get a picture. Volume is hard to control. Vizio customer techs were great and eventually got me a replacement. Still had to give them my CC number for them to even send the replacement and ship the original TV back to them. Customer service says they are aware of the blinking light problem and are working on a fix - but still selling the TV even with the problems!

Set up by Geek Squad. Many updates to download. The streaming channels never truly worked would always say no signal or have to rebut during programs. Unable to talk or even do a chat with Geek Squad to see if able to change a setting my self. On hold several times for five to 10 minutes no response. When went back to store for replacement asked if sure it was the TV and not my WiFi every other device works fine and shows strong signal final straw was that no internet tried to reconnect internet unable to after another 5 minutes on hold with no response requested new tv. Waiting for my new Samsung TV to be delivered.

    2-Time Loser

I bought this tv for a bedroom around the Thanksgiving holiday sale time. Within 3 weeks the picture turned a greenish color and the sound quit working. I took it back to Best Buy - waited in line for almost an hour due to it still being the holiday period - and exchanged it for the same tv. Big mistake. The 2nd tv did the same thing within weeks and because I had exchanged it, rather than do a return and new purchase, I cannot return it. It still has the stickers on it and it's useless. I had heard great things about Vizio and decided to spend a few dollars more for their product. i will not do that again.

So disappointed in Vizeo with this one. This TV is so glitchy and slow. I regret buying it. It’s slow when using smart cast and if you want to use Hulu, forget it! It won’t load or it freezes then it will suddenly kick you off. I thought it was my internet connection at first but it wasn’t. It has a mind of its own. It also reboots itself and you’re back to the very beginning having to original settings. Maybe I just got a lemon but I’m putting this one away and buying a different brand.

This senior citizen purchase on website sight unseen and picked set up curbside during vivid 19. I had difficulty programing with my antenna and luckily found manual on manufacturers website. No option to view directory which I really really miss. No program discription avaiable either. Remote is cheap and bet it won't last a year. I wish I stuck with Samsung!!!!

I have gigabit upload and download speed so very fast internet spent over an hour doing updates just to have the TV randomly turn off when you select an app lock up not load. I go to Netflix and it just sits and rotates like it's not connecting then I use my phone's Chromecast on the same Wi-Fi and it works just fine problem is not on the router it's in the TV not a happy purchase.

This Tv is absolutely horrid. The smart TV almost never works and just freezes most of the time. The actual TV itself either freezes to the point of having to unplug it, several times or just shuts off on its own. I’ve never had a single day where I could just turn it on and watch Tv. I would not recommend this Tv to anyone. I only bought it last October and have to save up again to get a better one.
