The first night we set the t.v. up it would not stay on. It kept shutting itself off and we could not watch it. We finally exchanged it for another brand.

    Good value, picture quality suffers

I read up a lot on this television before purchasing it. I needed an inexpensive television to replace another inexpensive one that suffered a power surge. This set met my price-point and screen size. The smart features were a bonus. The value of this set is very good. For the price you get a decent quality screen with built-in wi-fi and some very good smart features. The remote is very good at making it easy to go to what you want to watch. However, the picture quality left a lot to be desired. More specifically, the color saturation. While the picture is very sharp and very evenly lit, it was a constant challenge to tweak the settings to get a good picture. The issue with this set is most noticeable on the skin tones of peoples' faces. Around the areas where shadows fall around the faces there are very obvious over-saturation artifacts. When you are able to get the settings just right, the picture quality is quite good. The problem I found is that once I changed the channel, I began to see artifacts in the picture again. This constant adjusting is frustrating for those of us who are sensitive to inconsistencies in the picture. Also, I found the picture to be too dark in most cases. When making adjustments to brighten the screen, other issues with the picture would start to appear. I could never find that perfect middle-ground where I didn't notice something wrong with the picture. For people who do not care so much about minor imperfections in picture quality, this is really a great set for them. I can see this as being a perfect television for a kids room to play video games on or as a secondary television. The smart features add a ton of value to this television.

After less than two month, the screen start saving the picture on tv, so when I changed the channel saw what the previous channel display. I called and scheduled an appointment to fix the problem, and the technician said nothing with it, and it might doing this because of the receiver we used, I changed the receiver, get different one, the problem still on, I took the receiver away and stop watching from the receiver, I just use the YouTube app on the tv to watch, the problem still on.. I bought this tv with five years warranty, and no one fix my problem or try to help!!!!

This is a decent, smart tv for the money. Set up was very simple. It took less than 10 minutes to attach the legs, connect to our cable tv service, log onto wifi and hook up Apple TV. The picture is surprisingly good for such a reasonably priced tv. Blacks are very dark; colors are vivid. The sound is ok; pre-set adjustments via the equalizer help. Regardless, you can't expect great sound without investing additional money on a reasonable sound bar/system. Plenty of input options made hooking up additional components/game systems easy. I will seriously consider purchasing a larger version of this tv for another room in our home.

I was very dissapointed in the 43 inch Toshiba i purchased yesterday. I went back on bestbuy.com to read some reviews on other TVs because i didnt want to come across the same issues. So i exchanged that TV for this vizio 40 inch. Best decision! Amazing picture, amazing color, and a lot more options in settings! I hadnt bought a new tv in about 5 years and going from a 32 in. Westinghouse to this one was a great transition and didnt break the bank!

We had a 150 lb analog tv. We finally got the Vizio 40" smart tv. We were happy to be able to watch Netflix and listen to music on Pandora. The tv is easy to operate. It fully takes up a 36" space. We especially liked getting the tv in 2 days!

Great smart TV for the price. Does everything I need an office TV to do. Is it the top of the line latest and greatest? No. But it's hard to beat $314.99 for a 40" 1080p 120Hz Smart TV.

I bought this TV to upgrade a 32" smaller set. I purchased it based on screen size and for it being a smart tv as I wanted to use it for Netflix. Picture quality is acceptable, not as clear and crisp as higher priced models I have had, but it was a larger TV with smart capabilities for around $300. One feature I do appreciate is the multiple screen, aspect, color, brightness, etc setting. You can dial this thing in to your liking, or accept one of the pre-set settings. Nice touch on a budget model TV. Overall I am satisfied with this TV. It met or exceeded my expectations especially considering the price point.

Bought for my grandson. 40" Smart HD set for less than $350.00. Picture quality is extremely good. At this price point, it is superb! Have bought a number of Vizios for family and they have just performed. Got the 2 year warranty for $39.00 bucks. A winner on all fronts.
