Customers highly value the exceptional sound quality, immersive Dolby Atmos experience, and user-friendly setup process of the 5.1.4-Channel Elevate Soundbar. The rotating speakers and powerful bass further enhance the overall cinematic experience. However, some users have expressed concerns regarding occasional connectivity issues and bugs in the accompanying app.

Good but needs work
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had this soundbar for a few weeks now and am mostly happy with the sound. The bass (subwoofer) can sometimes be overwhelming even when dialed back; and the height speakers are mostly underwhelming. Music sound is outstanding, along with regular TV and movies. Problems include soundbar Power function stops working occasionally, requiring soft reboot to get working again. LED status system is not user friendly or informative. The Smartcast Mobile application has good functionality for operation of the SB, but does not always work fully. My support experience to date has been ineffective and product documentation/specification insufficient.

Posted .Hi MikeyG - thank you for taking the time to leave us a solid review! We appreciate the feedback.
While VIZIO tests across a broad array of TVs and manufacturers, the power-related issue you’re describing is not a common one we’ve experienced to date. We’d love to try and reproduce the issue to provide troubleshooting, but need to confirm the Elevate firmware version you’re on as well as what TV setup you’re using. Please leave us a comment in response with the information and we’ll work to recreate the issue to hopefully provide a solution.
VIZIO actively tracks these differences and rolls updates into Firmware updates. We encourage you to connect your VIZIO Elevate to your wireless network to ensure your firmware is up to date and to take advantage of Firmware updates as soon as they are available.

Stay away - buggy
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Where to begin: Sound was mediocre at best when it worked Very difficult to initially setup and pair No auto tune option ( I knew that when purchasing) Very Buggy, had to reset multiple times as the “elevate” would just stop working for no reason Sound level difference between channels or let’s say a tv show and commercial was insane, TV show would be perfect volume then commercial would be barely audible or so loud one would jump out of there seat. I will never buy a Vizio product again, glad I bought at Best Buy with a good return policy, feel bad for all those that could not return and are stuck with this.

Ground sound, easy to set up.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was actually an upgrade over our nice 5.1 system. Atmos sounds amazing. Worth getting if you can get it on sale. Some HDMI connectivity issues but simply restarting the bar fixes it (we have already 2018 tv without newest pass threw protocol so could be the issue)

Great Sound... Bad QA
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this open box and no matter what trouble shooting I did I could not get any sound to come out from using the earc port. When using an optical cable it worked fine and sounded fantastic but without the arc port I can't use Dolby Atmos so I had to return it. Not sure if this is Vizio's fault or Best Buy fault for selling a damaged open box product. Too bad it's completely sold out so I can't get a replacement. If you can find one that works I'd recommend it but unfortunately I had a bad buying experience.

Posted .Hello Ariz,
This is not typical so I suspect this may be related to the sound bar being an open box item. I would like to offer the assistance of our award-winning technical support team with this issue. Great system, poor software
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At 1000$, I would've hesitated to keep it. For 600$, I'm keeping it. My next stop would definitely be the Sonos setup, and that will run me up to 2 grand. So, if you find this product at a discounted price, go for it.

Worth the buy.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product overall all. Setup with app could’ve been better, but I won’t totally disregard user error. Sounds great, easily adjustable room setup. Completed movie nights.

App is junk but remote does everything you need.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This soundbar is next level amazing. As title says SmartCast app is garbage but with remote you don’t need it. A Ethernet port would have solved this problem but you don’t need app and still get updates. I was blown away when I dialed in my EQ.

Vizio is awesome
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this brand. Some people might think that it is not good. However, I have had good experiences with Vizio. I purchased tv like 6 years ago. Still working great! So I got the speakers and it works fantastic!

Almost works great but not quite.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not worth the money. The sound bar and sub is great. The satellite speakers sound like a tin can. The Vizio app does not work well for the settings. The app kept disconnecting from the unit. Bluetooth doesn't stay connected. I purchased this unit w/ $200 off. Still not worth it until the Chromecast app is revised and works well. I returned mine within a few weeks of frustration. Vizio support told me that they would get back to me within two business days with a solution for the app and the other issues that I was having. They never did. That was the last straw and back to Best Buy it went.

Start with this one!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for a sound bar that does it all at a low cost and want excellent sound quality this is it. You may encounter some technical hiccups but nothing to write home about really. Before you buy a super expensive sound system check this thing out you will not be disappointed.

crackling noise, no sound..tons of issues
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this sound bar with the knowledge that Vizio app is terribly difficult to use. The reality didn't surprise that the app really is garbage. It rarely connect to the bar, even when it connects, most of the time your settings adjustment will just be bounced back by the app, let alone all the trouble I went through to set it up...which is FINE since at least the remote still works, most of the time... But unfortunately this sound bar has a lot worse issues which almost rendered the app connectivity issue the least of my concern. I connected this bar to my sony x900h tv via eARC and every time I switch channel or change the format of audio (for example change audio output from PCM to dolby bitstream in PS4) the rear surround will make a crackling noise. Sometimes it was so loud as if something exploded behind my back. Truly immersive surround experience! Obviously I am not the only one suffering from it. It seems to be an eARC connectivity issue in general other review also mentioned that they had the crackling noise when connected to their LG TV via eARC. Second, when you start a video or resume a video from pause or forwarding/backwarding, you hear no sound for the first a few seconds of playing. feels like the sound bar is in "idle" when no sound is played and it takes a few seconds to activate itself to start play sound. Not as severe an issue as the crackling noise but still pretty annoying. Last but not least, Nintendo Switch play no sound when connected directly to HDMI in on this bar. Since Switch output multichannel audio in PCM only which is known to cause weird issue when connected via ARC so I decided to connect it to the bar directly but shockingly no matter how I adjusted settings on Switch, the sound bar remains completely silent be it in the menu or in the game. Connecting my PS4 to the bar directly can play the sound just fine and my Switch works with other sound bar as well. So I can only surmise that vizio elevate doesn't handshake well with Switch. I am extremely disappointed at this product and strongly suggest people who's into the fancy spec of this sound bar hold off your purchase. Maybe I will give it sometime to see if any new firmware would come out to fix these issue by the end of holiday return window otherwise I have no choice but to haul this heavy monster back to best buy.

Honest experience after 1 year- read before buying
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device offered the most wonderful audio I've heard from a soundbar, or for that matter, any surround sound system. Truly exceptional. Unfortunately I didn't have a single day of uninterrupted use. The Android app is non-functional, so soundbar cannot be used unless you have an iOS product. Feel free to read the reviews in the Android app store if confirmation of this is required. The iOS app minimally functions to set up the device and control sound parameters- but will still take multiple tries and several hours to set up. When using eARC with Vizio supplied HDMI cable, minimum 3 to 5 second delay when input source is detected before you can hear audio. You will miss content, there's no way around it. Vizio support confirms this is the correct function for the unit. When source feed changes (eg ads or commercials during streaming), soundbar feed will cut out entirely and audio will not return until soundbar or input is reset manually. Firmware updates are very few and far between, and break more than they fix. Customer support is poor at best. I spent the better part of a year chatting with Vizio tech a few times a month trying to get a solution to these problems. Finally after 1 year the device finally stopped working entirely. It was at this point Vizio indicated a warranty exchange would be indicated, but since it is now just out of warranty I was advised nothing could be done and Vizio no longer offers support for the product. Unfortunately as this company does not support its own new product, and I am now out close to $1,000, and as such I cannot recommend this product or any Vizio product to anyone. I have been a long time believer in Vizio quality, and it is very sad to have to give up on a brand that for so long was a trusted part of my household. Hopefully future iterations of this product will be functional, or at the very minimum supported or believed in by Vizio. Please save yourself the energy in the grief and do not buy this product. Pay a bit more and choose the better brand.

Posted .Hello Nelson, sorry to hear that you're having trouble. That's not at all the experience we'd like for our customers. There is a new firmware update available for your sound bar that resolves the issue you are experiencing with audio interruptions. You can find this update as well as steps to install it at https://support.vizio.com/s/article/Firmware-Information-3119?language=en_US. I would also like to learn more about issues with the free VIZIO SmartCast application so we can assist with further troubleshooting. The app is designed and intended to operate with the same functions and features on both iOS and Android platforms.
