Vizio sound system

No issues and works equally well with music or even the regular tv. Which is surprising because most systems fall short with just regular TV due to being too loud or having too much bass. Not with this systme.

Great Soundbar

Trouble is getting the right output delivered to this. 4 stars because of two reasons. 1. Even in pass through mode, sometimes the soundbar is not able to identify the right sound mode. 2. Would have dxpected none of these issues with that price tag! The sound quality to $ ratio is not great.

Terrible Firmware, still after more than a year

I have never struggled so much to get this system to work. It's paired with an 85 inch Vizio tv so compatibility should not be an issue. Connection, sound, you name it. . . do your research online. Lots of complaints. I'm constantly unplugging and plugging and also looking for firmware updates. I've had this for over a year and I'm ready to dump it. There's no consistency as to whether you're going to get the tv to turn on or the sound to play from all speakers when you want to watch some tv or a movie. Settings reset. We spent the better part of 2 hours going through all the settings last night. Finally did a reboot. . . I am so done with this soundbar. Vizio is not elevating their status in the industry with this junk.

It sounded good and the app was good but bugs

The height speakers worked well, the subwoofer was powerful and clear, the inputs and specs were great. But this has been out for 4 years and it has been broken with Switch surround sound for that long. I had the center and back channels drop randomly while playing games, only to be fixed by changing inputs. I'm not about to keep a $1000 sound system that can't even handle playing 5.1 surround sound correctly. I returned it and I'm pretty sure I'm done with Vizio. Everything I've ever owned from them had software issues. Good hardware let down by bar software development practices and/or bad management not investing in making their products usable.

A good sound bar.

Pairing it with a Visio TV is an awful experience. eARC and CEC are completely broken. It’s been like this for 6 months. I had to resort to using an Optical Cable in order to get stable audio. What year is this??? This is the last Vizio product I will ever purchase.

If you put it anywhere else you get a popping and crackling sound from the back speakers during loud parts of movies. - The app that comes with it for you phone is very hard to set up and hard to use - It’s not cheap - For an item as expensive as this one, I expect to have less issues than what I’m currently dealing with. I say the jury is still out on this because I’m still trying to decide if the great sound is worth dealing with the cons - I’m not sure yet and may still return it before the window closes…

Needs more refining.....

The soundstage is a little underwhelming... either you get high dialouge/ center and low soundtrack/music or vice versa.... not sure if it's user error based on the many manual setting you must perform for each sound source being fed or hardware limitations. Please push out a update where you can at least have a couple preset saved settings or do a better job of processing different signal formats automatically. Hopefully a couple more firmware updates will do the trick.

Connectivity issues and frustrations

There are connectivity issues using the e-ARC port (my TV does have e_ARC as well). The soundbar constantly connects and disconnects every time it detects a different audio signal, it doesn't always detect that I am playing an Atmos connect (even if I try to play the same video), and every time when I change the audio source or change the video apps on my TV, the satellite speakers do a loud craking noise. Finally, smart app integration is not useable at all. It lags, doesn't connect, and so on (I even updated the soundbar firmware). When I spend this much money on a higher-end sound system, I do expect the system to work much better than this. Vizio, you have more work to do to attaract more customers.

Good sound, but be prepared for some challenges

The big issue that I have is how flaky the eArc connection is. When switching from TV to Netflix, game console or other smart tv app, it is not uncommon to lose sound altogether, requiring turning everything off and starting over. Also, if a streaming video is paused for too long the sound bar shuts off. Hopefully future software upgrades will improve this issue.

Perfect gift for someone who hates listening to TV

The app rarely works, and when it does, it will usually just say “can’t sync with soundbar.” I should have taken it as a sign when the first one I purchased needed to be exchanged in less than two weeks because the subwoofer stopped turning on. I originally bought this because I have a Vizio TV, but that isn't very meaningful when both products barely work together. I spend more time rebooting and resetting this soundbar than actually using it. Now I prefer to listen to my TV via Bluetooth headphones or use HomePod, so I don’t have to spend hours to get a least an hour of quality sound.

Amazing Sound Bar

Pairing with my Vizio 85" P Quantum X I've had no issues. Audio quality is excellent and the bass is enormous. No idea how I went without a soundbar this long!
