I ordered this after reading the rave reviews here and on Wirecutter. It arrived promptly, and took me two hours to unbox and set up. BUT, the sub would NOT power up, rendering it and the two satellite speakers unusable. I took the sub to my local BB, but was told I'd have to re-box everything and ship or return to store. Took another two hours to box everything up and haul to BB. After thinking about it a while, I ordered the Sonos Arc. I'd had a great experience with the Beam almost two years ago, figured I'd try to repeat with the Arc.

Works some times. I bought the JBL 9.1 bar first then returned it because the sound kept cutting in and out. I thought because the rear speakers were wireless it was not perfected yet. I decided to stick with Vizio since I have always had great experiences with them. After spending $900.00 I am having the same issues. Rear speakers crackle and subwoofer cuts out. It works most of the time watching a 4K Blu Ray or playing a ps5 or Switch game but everything else including streaming, plain Blu Rays and DVD are terrible. I can’t watch anything since the surround sound and subwoofer keeps cutting out. It’s frustrating. I think soundbars now with Dolby Atmos technology is terrible. I wish I never was suckered into this technology. Waste of money.

Hello John, sorry to hear that you're having crackling. Have you tried connecting the sound bar with a different cable? While it's possible that there's a problem with the sound bar, cords/cables with frayed ends can also cause audio crackling. If you'd like any assistance, you can reach out to our customer service team by visiting support.vizio.com and clicking on 'Contact Us'. VIZIO

Hello Pkc9425, thank you for taking your time to leave us your review. When a sound bar is connected to a TV using the recommended HDMI ARC connection, the sound bar will power on and off with the TV. To avoid having to unhook the sound bar from the TV, I would recommend to disable the CEC connection in the TV's menu. But a heads-up that turning the CEC off will make it so that the sound bar will need to be manually powered on and off every time and may cause other unexpected interface and audio changes. hear me out, not the best if you live in an apartment. I used to live on the top floor of an apartment and almost never used teh sub because It did such a good job at shaking the walls and you could hear it down the hall by the elevators. now that I live in a house I love playing music and watching movies with the sub on. I have had for a few years now and is still going like new.

I was really looking forward to this soundbar. Unfortunately I didn't do enough research about it's earc connectivity issues. Extremely loud pops coming from the rear speakers when switching inputs or sound output on a game console, even when just powering on and an Xbox Series X or Playstation 5. These pops can make you jump literally. Considering it happens with more than one TV and is brand new, updated to current firmware(which is an entirely whole pain), this is just purely unacceptable. I will be returning this as soon as the JBL 9.1 is back in stock and won't buy another Vizio product again, especially with their terrible customer support experience. The soundbar IS THE ISSUE, I know how to test things and have done so extensively. If a product is sold as being fully featured quality control is a must, and obviously this is lacking severly. Only operating feature that works is the 2 hdmi inputs, which defeats the purpose of earc anyway, but if you don't have earc capable TV then this will probably work just fine. I will never recommend this to anyone, not even an enemy!

This is probably the worst sound bar I've purchased. It has potential, but it's riddled with HDMI issues, ARC & eARC issues, and sometimes doesn't produce correct sound. Sound bar won't work with the Smart cast app, even though I've tried it on different WiFi networks and phones. Sometimes the speakers won't elevate, requiring a power cycle. Sometimes the sound bar will forget its center channel, requiring a power cycle. There's huge audio delay when trying to use it for video games using Dolby Atmos. There's also passthrough issues. I highly recommend you DO NOT get this sound bar, especially for gaming. Oh and the wall brackets that come with the product? Not strong enough to hold it level, so it sags.

    Vizio Elevates My Setup!

I absolutely despise blowing this home theater sound system concept out of proportion by setting up a receiver, speakers, and all the wires etc. I am aware of what sound bars can and cannot do, and I love the idea given how everything comes together in a small package. I am setting up a music system in a small house, not trying to build an opera house. So, if you hate sound bars, this product or review isn't for you. I own a Vizio all-in-one 2.0 soundbar hooked up to an old but faithful Vizio 3D HDTV in my bedroom, and I am impressed by how much bass it puts out despite lacking a separate subwoofer, and how clear the sound signature is in such a compact package. When I decided to add a bigger sound system to my living room 4K LG OLED TV, I naturally started to research Vizio's more expensive offerings but before I discovered Elevate, I tried a couple of LG and Samsung options, and they were honestly just underwhelming. I even tried the Nakamichi one to my dissatisfaction. Bose and Sonos were too expensive for what they offer, at least for me. Vizio Elevate yet again impressed me with crystal clear sound from the sound bar (the rotary speakers are fine and they do add some height to the sound) and the surround speakers. The woofer is excellent and has a punchy bass response. There are a lot of configuration options on the remote control to help you get the most out of this system. Their phone app isn't the greatest, but it does work after fiddling with it a bit. All in all, if your budget is $1000 and you have a medium sized living room, Elevate looks and performs extremely well.

One of the worst purchases I've made in a long time. If you've seen the nice reviews, take them with a grain of salt. If you get a good unit, awesome. Otherwise, Vizio is failing to acknowledge known issues with the units starting to crackle/rumble/pop like a bowl of Rice Krispies except very loudly, to the point of disturbing neighbors. If I were in the return period, I would be returning it. Barring some miracle, it's going into a dumpster.
