Major issues with Subwoofer & Rear Surrounds

I have reset this thing at least 10 times trying to maintain a solid subwoofer connection. This isn't even the biggest problem. The rear surrounds have this constant static crackling and popping sound that ruins the entire listening experience. You can Google this and see others who've experienced the same on Reddit. It's straight garbage and there's no point in buying this unit when the surround and Atmos experience is trashed with by this horrible defect. Stay far away and do not waste your money!

Stop working after a year

So I guess I lost $855 on this garbage.

wont connect, wont turn on

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I set this up, and plugged it, and the sound bar immediately started saying "searching". Over and over and over. I tried to connect through the Smart Cast app, both wifi and bluetooth. It wouldn't pair. So after getting tired of listening to the "searching" I turned the speaker off. Once off, it would not turn back on. I did a short press on the power button, then a 5 second press, then a 10 second press...nothing. I unplugged it, and replugged it, went into "searching" mode again. This time I used the remote control to turn it off. But again, whe I tried to turn on (using the remote) nothing. So, am i doing something wrong or is it a bad speaker? I want this system to work, i would love to be able to come back and give 5 stars.

Waste of money even at the sale price.

Owned for 6 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolute garbage, wish I retuned it within the 30 days, subwoofer constantly shuts itself off, still powered on but no output, will only come back on if I turn surround sound off and then back on threw the app, loses Bluetooth connection to the subwoofer over and over, even with it now 3 feet from the sound bar to try and fix the problem. Sometimes even though the power is on no sound comes out, and have to unplug and restart sound bar.

While it's possible that there's a problem with the sound bar, cords/cables with frayed ends can also cause audio audio cutting out. Do not buy

By April, the surrounds started going in and out. Called Vizio and they sent me a new one. Within a month, the surrounds started cutting out again. I also have the model prior to this... no issues. I think you need to do more testing Vizio,

Worth it, Have Patience
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.As expected the sound quality is excellent but then again it’s Dolby Atmos so it’s expected to be awesome (and loud!) What threw me off was having the sound projected to the ceiling then back down on me. It truly had me nervous at first but as time goes on you realize that by doing it creates an immersive sound experience. This is not the direct, peel your face off sound that most systems use but don’t worry it’s as good as anything out there!! My daughter has Chromecast and esay paired it to the system/speakers and again, the it performed flawlessly with deep bass and crystal clear sound. I have an uncompressed version of Tools Lateralus and my god it was sound perfection

Love the sound, BUT.....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sounds great. easy setup....BUT: I have it connected thru the HDMI ARC connections to my LG OLED TV. Most of the time when I turn on the TV, the sound bar does not automatically connect to the TV sound. I have to push the button on the soundbar to activated the "search"mode. Then after a few seconds it does connect with the TV and produce sound. I called Vizio support about this, they had me try a few things. Nothing changed, so they told me they would send a replacement soundbar and I should return mine. Got the new system quickly, connected it up and still have the same problem. I do love the sound, so I can live with having to manually have it search and connect each time. ( Every once in a while it DOES connect by itself!) I think it may be a compatibility with the LG TV?

NEXT-GEN PREMIUM AUDIO!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, I have to tip my hat off to Vizio for offering a sound bar system with Dolby Atmos technology at such an incredible price. If you are searching the sound bar market for the same Dolby Atmos technology and immersive audio, you will not find anything remotely close to the Vizio price and with the steep price gap amongst competitor Atmos systems, you can easily afford to buy the Vizio 46” 5.1.4 system and still have money left over to buy a large premium 4K UHD TV! This Vizio 5.1.4 system has dedicated upfiring speakers. In addition to the standard 5.1 configuration, there are 2 upfiring speakers built into the sound bar, and an additional 2 upfiring speakers built into the rear satellite speakers. By isolating the rear height channels from the sound bar, you get a truly immersive and multi dimensional audio experience in the comfort of your own home. I am very impressed with the audio quality received while playing my favorite movie “Mad Max” off of my Xbox One S. I was able to experience sounds from every angle - left/right/front/behind/above - which gives new meaning to an "immersive" experience. IT'S TRULY PREMIUM! Even when playing NON-Dolby Atmos content in a traditional 5.1 surround sound configuration, this Vizio system still delivers exceptionally clear and crisp surround sound. The 46” bar is very sleek and refined but packs a very large punch and comes with a 10” wireless subwoofer (which is probably more bass than you could ever want) which automatically detects and connects to the sound bar. All of the wall mounts for the bar and satellite speakers are included and my set-up was surprisingly easy. Having Chromecast built in is a huge bonus as you can easily cast content to the sound bar without having to stay within close proximity since it uses WiFi. All in all, I could not ask for a better sound system at such a great value.

Easy to set up, great sound at a great price

I love watching movies and playing video games in surround. I searched best surround sound bars and found a pretty consistent message for the VIZIO 5.1.4 sound bar, "Best Affordable Atmos System". I will say that it did not disappoint. I have been watching a ton of movies on Netflix and Amazon Prime by searching Dolby Atmos movies and choosing ones that have a lot of action. It is was easy to set up (HDMI to ARC) and modifying the sound was very easy. I have the surround section nearly turned all the way up because I enjoy hearing the background sounds. My 12 year old daughter and I have watch Ready Player One more times than I would like to admit. The King Kong race scene is amazing. You literally hear cars flying beside and above you. I also adjusted the center speaker so the dialogue does not get lost in the sound. It's personal preference but that is the beauty of this sound bar. It allows you to do that. I would not consider myself a super gamer but I will say that playing Mario Kart with my daughter has been a blast. When you are driving, you can hear the other players approaching you from the rear and coming up alongside you. Totally immersive and helps warn you that something is coming so your reaction time is better! Now I am the one asking my daughter if she wants to play! If you are looking for a true atmos bar at a price that is affordable and provides a truly immersive experience, this is the one for you!

Surprisingly great system

I must say this model is excellent, it outshines the other brand names I bought. The best setting is for a small to medium size room. Setting up was easy and the instruction simple to follow. All the inputs are in the sound bar. The testing CD that is included is very useful to make any adjustments to placement of the satellite speakers so the sound effects are perfect. As for the build, it feels like good quality like a high end system. It wont win any awards for design but for sound is outstanding. The system comes with all necessary accessories such as HDMI, Optical, Coaxial and old fashion AV cables. The brackets for the sound bar require a bit work to make sure are leveled and distanced appropriately. I have it set up in my home theater with a cinema projector. This is definitely a great alternative to brand name systems I've used before.

Best for the Price!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start off by saying that I have tested out the LG SK10Y, Sony Ht-z9f, Samsung N850 and Sony ST 5000 and this Vizio I would say is Equal if not a tad bit better because it has the rear speakers with upward firing dolby atmos tech as well as 2 upward firing speakers in the sound bar. I felt that the Sony ht-z9f vertical sound engine was not enough and never felt that dolby atmos effect. Only the samsung N850 and Sony ST 5000 came with true dolby atmos speakers but for the Sony ST5000 lacks rear speakers so you never really feel the immersive surround. For samsung it was too expensive for the N950 samsung with rear dolby atmos. The vizio does offer the bigger subwoofer which I personally liked over all the other brand subwoofers. Dialogue cam in nice and crisp on the vizio as well as all the other soundbars I tested. So I told myself why spend more and get less right when vizio offers the total package all in one price. If you really looking for a true dolby atmos soundbar with dedicated dolby atmos rear speakers this Vizio does offer a great performance.

Great Dolby Atmos System
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Vizio 46” 5.1.4 Home Theater Sound System is a high quality sound system featuring Dolby Atmos which also includes Chrome fast and Google Assistant support. The system consists of a sound bar with two side speakers, two rear speakers, and a large wireless subwoofer. The Dolby Atmos effect is achieved by upward firing speakers in each of the front and rear speakers. In order to take advantage of Dolby Atmos, you will want a TV with an HDMI ARC connection, a room with a flat ceiling approximately 8 ft high, a device capable of playing Dolby Atmos such as an Xbox One or Fire TV, and, of course, source material from Amazon, Netflix, or a Blu Ray disc. I tested the system with both non Atmos and Atmos material. Non Atmos material sounded very good, but Atmos is where this system shines. Sounds like a helicopter come from the appropriate direction thus giving a sense of realism not possible with other systems. Dolby Atmos material is currently somewhat scarce but is getting more available every day. I was able to watch Jack Ryan from Amazon, several movies from Netflix, and the John Wick blu ray. All performed as they should and produced a greater sense of realism. In summary, if you are looking for a high end system with a great subwoofer, Dolby Atmos, and the other features such as Chromecast and Google Assistant, I would recommend the Vizio system. Just make sure that you have the appropriate equipment and area for setup and are willing to wait as more source material becomes available.

Good sound, lots of disconnects

Often have to reset the tv to get this to work. Sometimes will work with one streaming service but not another, then work after reboot. I reboot once a day since getting this. I suppose that could be the tvs fault, but doesn't occur with my other sound bar. It also disconnects and reconnects with subwoofer a couple times an hour. Tried to move my wifi router, didn't help much. It's definitely a step up on sound but sometimes I really just want my old, much cheaper, sound bar because it just works.

Disconnects EVERYDAY, $1000 JUNK!

After i would unplug and re plug it in the issue would be resolved temporarily. After the new Vizio soundbar that supported Dolby Atmos i decided to give it a 2nd chance. Well what do you know here i am once again unplugging it from the wall and re plugging it in order to now communicate with the TV with HDMI ARC connection. Going to get the Sonos ARC now instead of this junk.
