    Not bad at all

I bought this as an afterthought for my bedroom and was pleasantly surprised. I paired it with a Sharp 60 inch Aquos Q+ and could not be more happy. My living room system costs around $2500 and while it does sound a lot better, the vizio sound bar is not bad for the price. Pros: Best wireless subwoofer I have used Real 5.1 sound without a receiver Easy to mount and set up, (aprox 1 hour) Excellent remote with an LCD screen built in. Minimalist design Cons: Few calibration options Highs can be harsh at times Conclusion: You can't go wrong for the price. There are better sound bars, but they cost a lot more. This is the only sound bar I've used that I would consider acceptable for a living room. Though it wont be replacing my 7.2 system anytime soon. It is great for a bedroom and I would recommend it.

Best Surround / Sound Bar Package for the Money

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I wouldn't consider myself an "audiophile", but I do enjoy a good sound system. In my family room, I spent a little bit of money on an Energy system (sound bar w/ wireless sub). I am very happy with that unit - lots of power, VERY loud, and very clear sound. However, with the absense of rear speakers, you don't get a true "surround sound" effect. Having just finished my basement (smaller area than my family room), I wanted to install a surround system for that area as well, but didn't want a system that could get as loud as the Energy system (it would literaly blow you out of the room), nor did I want to spend the $600. My research led me to the Vizio 5.1 system, which seemed to have nothing but glowing reviews on almost every website you can check. Normal price for this system is $299 (I missed the boat on a Black Friday sale @ $199). I had been scouting my local Best Buy for an open box deal for a few months, and finally came across one for $230 and pulled the trigger. Setup on this unit is a breeze. I used the supplied optical cable, which is as straightforward as it gets (1 cord). The subwoofer then plugs into any 110 outlet, and you simply connect the two rear speakers to the sub. No wires running all the way from the back of the room to your soundbar. Just two small cables to the rear sub. Excellent design which eliminates the need to hide tons of wires / cables. Seeing as how my TV is wall-mounted, I wanted my soundbar on the wall as well. This was the most time consuming part of the setup, as I had to drive in wall anchors into my drywall in order to hang the wall-mount brackets for the bar. If you are not wall-mounting your soundbar, setup is literaly 5 minutes or less. If you are wall-mounting, count on about 20 minutes (provided you have everything needed to do the job - tape measure, pencil to mark your holes, drill, wall anchors, and the supplied mounting hardware). Note that wall anchors are NOT provided with this unit. This thing is about as close to "plug and play" as it gets for any surround sound system. One of the best features on this system is the Bluetooth compatibility. My more expensive Energy system does not have this option, but seeing as how I run a Roku box on that setup, it's not the end of the world. But for a $230 system, I think this is a fantastic option to have and makes it an excellent value. The system quickly recognizes my Bluetooth devices and pairing is almost instantaneous. As for the sound, it's hard to believe that this unit only set me back $230 for the quality that it puts out. The soundbar itself is fantastic - loud, crisp, and plenty of range. The subwoofer has a thunderous rumble to it - enough that it sends the dog hiding under the bed - but one of my only complaints is that in some instances (depending on the song or video playing), is almost seems as if the subwoofer is trying "too hard". This might be "user error", as I have only had the system for a week and may still need to dial in the appropriate settings. I think I would have to give the subwoofer nod to my Energy system, but it is also almost twice the size. The sub found in the Vizio 5.1 system is still quite impressive for its size. As for the rear speakers, sometimes it's hard to tell whether or not they're putting out much sound, as there is so much sound coming out of that fantastic sound bar and thunderous subwoofer. However, when I find myself walking outside of the "surround zone" where I have the back speakers pointed towards, it is clear that you are losing that "surround" effect when leaving that area, so the back speakers are definitely giving me that surround sound effect that I was looking for. In summary, I challenge anyone to find another system that is priced anywhere close to $230 that gives you this kind of sound for the money. I am extremely pleased with my selection of this unit. This system is very simple to install, has a fantastic sound bar, loud subwoofer that rumbles (sometimes too much, sometimes not enough, but in general, is very good for the size), and rear speakers that I wish put out a little more sound, but still give you that true surround sound effect. If you are on the fence about which surround sound system to buy, do yourself a favor and go out and buy this unit now.

Did some research for price performance, etc. The Vizio line of soundbars was highly rated by a number of consumer reviewers. Purchased online and picked up at store. That went very smoothly and was on my way in 20 minutes. Setup was quite easy and the system was up and running in less than 1/2 an hour. Excellent clarity from main bar and surround speakers. Clean crisp highs, smooth midrange and powerful bass lines from the subwoofer. Incredible surround effect from movies and tv. Bluetooth pairing with my laptop was effortless and music quality was flawless. A great deal for the price.

PERFECT SOUND SYSTEM FOR ENTRY LEVEL

I was able to get this particular sound bar on black Friday for only $200 but after using it and seeing its capability I would have easily paid the $300 or now $236. The sound bar its self is 42" which is rather large but does put out lots of sound and great quality at that. The bluetooth connection is superb and even better than my Bose soundlink which I payed the equal $200 for. In addition to the sound bar there is a very strong wireless sub which then connects to a left and right rear speaker. The wireless sub allows for you to place the sub its self and the rear speakers in the back of the room without running cables across your living room. Sometimes when buying an entry level system the rear speakers lack quality but these ones look and sound great and are super easy to hook up. Some might be worried about losing connection from sub to soundbar but you don't have to do a thing but turn on the sub and it automatically connects. For the remote and controls of the system those are also better than i expected. The remote has a display so you can change a few settings and select the input. The only down side to the settings and the system is that there is not much customization but for the price i would not expect that. All in all i would 100% recommend getting the soundbar if you are looking to enhance your tv or music playing sound quality. I live in a 13 X 13 dorm room and i have gotten many noise complaints just from watching movies, probably from the sub shaking the walls... lol To me that is a darn great sound system. Don't hesitate and buy this product, you will NOT be disappointed.

Great sound system for smaller rooms

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The system has a good sonic range for smaller areas. I have normal ceilings, a full man cave room, and carpeting, so that might complement the acoustics of the area. I've heard this systems doesn't perform as well with room having high ceilings. Some folks also complained about the bluetooth connection being faulty around wifi. I have no such experience. I have two routers in my house. I have nearly 10 wifi connected devices in the house mainly connected on the 2.4 ghz frequency and I don't have that problem. In the direct vicinity of the sound system I have 4 wifi connected devices. Sometimes this issues have more to do with what is in the walls and not so much the wifi. The surround sound speakers are pretty good. I was actually suprised when play "The Last of Us" for playstation 3 how he ambient noise was pretty accurate coming from either side. My toddler was actually scared of the creepy sounds coming from the sides. Lol. At this price, I honestly think I have a steal. You can buy those portable bluetooth devices for close to the same price and wont sound as good. As far as comparisons to similar systems, I can't say what is better, but in full rooms and smaller less airy rooms, this is nice. My man cave isn't that small, but I assume with big room the sound coming from the subwoofer would be less affective. My cave is about 14x20 I think.

Great surround sound. Sounds as if your are right there. Had a problem with rear speaker and they replaced the entire system not just the speaker. Wife had no desire for this system. Now she wants to watch all the good movies on this set up, which is my man cave. Cons: remote has no backlighting so have to turn on light to see what your are doing with it. Not to happy with no digital readout on sound bar as it only has lights. Found better price at SAMs Club. Best Buy matched price but I negotiated them to beat the price by another $10 or I would get it at SAMs. They did. Be aware, Vizio will not replace defective compents by themselves. You need to send back the entire system and they replace with new system. Mother pay all shipping under warranty.

This is a great system. Had it for a week, had no problem hooking it up to my 42' Vizio TV. The surround sound is awesome. This baby put out some wall shaking sound. I heard some negitive stuff from a person from another site complained about the volume, I think he/she did not know what they were doing. The surround is not as good as a Bose, but it comes in a good second. I can hear all the special effects sounds, ie, rain falling, glass breaking, the breath of a horse, you name it. I am so glad I was there when Best Buy just received the new 5.1 with Bluetooth. Watching Star Wars now, OMG what a sound! Buy this and have a movie night at home. The only problem I had was with the remote. Had a hard time trying to open it to place the batteries in.

I wasn't going to buy this sound bar. I was going to get one less expensive. After hooking it up, I'm glad I bought it! The sound bar had unbelievable sound, the two satellite speakers gives it the surround sound you'd come to expect from a movie theater. The wireless sub woofer is a nice touch as well. This system is a great one to buy! It seriously sounds like your inside a movie theater! Vizio scores again!!!!

Not much to b said. Sound is very good not great. Like other reviews have said, unless your an audiophile this is a very good product. Set up is a breeze. The subwoofer has good bass and the surround sound speakers are good. I love that the sub is wireless. I think this is the only product out there that has the wireless sub feature with surround sound. I would say its just a little over priced. I see they are selling for 299 now which is about the right price. I paid 329 for it and a week later they had it advertised for 299 so i went back to best buy and they paid me back the difference. Perfect product for an apartment or bedroom.

We had purchased the Boston Acoustics TVee 26, after a couple of months the subwoofer would cut in and out. It was very annoying and made watching tv, or a blu ray, or playing a game out of the question. So we ended up taking it back and thinking it was just a hardware issue we exchanged it for the same system. Big mistake! Month goes by and the same thing began to occur. Frustrated beyond belief, one because the system is obviously flawed and two our nearest BB is 40 miles away. I tried everything, different connections, placed the sub everywhere possible in our living room and still no go. So I did some research and stumbled upon this heavenly system. Same price as the TVee 26, but the vizio is 5.1, has Bluetooth and satellite speakers. And the sub has a 60ft range! Which is perfect for us since our living room is very large. After the simple hook up I was blown away. The sound is flawless, the connections work great and Bluetooth is absolutely a must have! Monday night football sounds like you are on the field it's that good. But it is early, but I have a feeling I won't be disappointed. Buy this now! And by the way I am an elite plus member, just didn't feel like looking for my member number.

I initially bought this soundbar for a friend for a birthday gift. I set it up for her which was a breeze. I liked it so much I ended up purchasing one for myself. The only complaint I have is that the included cables are not long enough if you want to wall mount the bar and use a cable management system.

This sound bar systems sounds great. I purchased it without even listening to it at the store.( It is hard to gauge the quality of sound inside a big box store.) I took it home and hooked it up in a less than 10 minute. Tested it out on a series of channels, blu rays, ps3, xbox360, and bluetooth pandora through my cell phone. It sounded great on all. I am quit please with my purchase. Only draw back it the remote is not backlite, but that will not set it back.

    BUY THIS SYSTEM!

I am on board with this system! I swapped out a Vizio 2.1 system for the 5.1 system after discovering that I didn't have to run wiring to the rear speakers from the sound bar. I live in an apartment and I'm not about to spend a fortune hiding cables when I can own a system like this. This baby took 15 minutes to set up and everything you'll need is provided in the box and packaged so that a 5 year old could understand. I first went to YouTube and pulled up a Dolby Digital 5.1 test video that will push any system to its limits. The Vizio 5.1 made me feel like I was in the movie! The sub has more ground shaking power than you'll ever need and the other 4 speakers make my Klipsh speakers seem even more over priced. I then realized I had a neighbor upstairs and brought this bad boy back down to earth. You can go out and spend $500-$2000 on a Bose system and get great sound or you can spend $330 and get amazing sound! Vizio is doing it right and this is coming from a guy that did his research! Buy it today! Best Buy hooked me up and I saved money over every other retailer!
