This 4k 50" screen unfortunately didn't look nearly as good as our 1080 LG that had just died. The picture appeared washed out, and if you viewed it from even a slight angle it was totally disappointing. I returned it.

Great for waiting on OLED to come down in price.

I was dead set on dropping over $2k on an OLED TV. Went to BB to make my purchase and spent an hour and a half arguing with myself and looking at every TV on display. Then the realization started to set in, I could spend a third of that and get a great TV and make the jump to OLED next year (or the year after) when the prices started to make sense. Short story long I am not in the least bit disappointed with the M50-E1! It has wonderful contrast and some of the best black levels I've seen for a normal LED back lit set. Gaming in 4K with HDR (Forza 7 looks AMAZING!) on this set is awesome!

I have not been pleased with this purchase, actually tried to return it after struggling with it for a few weeks but was outside the return window. The built in Chromecast hardly ever comes up as an option on either my apple and Android phones. The smartcast app is useless because it can't connect to my tv, but even if it works it's really just a remote. The smart apps on the TV itself (read as: the only apps you can actually use consistently) are preset with ads and services requiring subscriotions, and not configurable or customisable.

    Fantastic value

This is a great TV but it's not perfect. The 4K/ HDR picture is excellent when you have the right source material for viewing and the settings are calibrated properly. The minimal amount of inputs don't really affect me since I only have/ need one thing to be connected anyway. I also play a lot of Xbox One games on it and this set has very little delay (about or less than 15 ms). I honestly do not even notice any delay when playing games. My only gripe is that the viewing angle is quite bad. The TV looks fantastic when viewed straight on at the proper angle. deviate from that angle just a little bit and the colors suddenly become washed out and bland.

Nobody told me through online ordering and store pick-up, that This TV doesn't HAVE A TUNER! Why would anyone want something like this. After I got help in getting it in and putting it on the stand, DID I MENTION THAT I HAVE MS? YES I TOLD THEM MANY TIMES AND NOBODY CARED. I found out that there's NO TUNER ON THIS, IT'S USELESS. Had to take it down, take it back to an unapologetic store. NEVER AGAIN!

Solid picture quality, decent smart features

Many reviews (or just go to rtings.com for this model) already speak to the solid picture quality of the 2017 m-series so will focus on other aspects. The remote is decent but doesn't have any learning functionality (e.g can't teach it to control my fire tv). I connected the TV to a vizio soundbar via hdmi port1 to make use of ARC (allow tv remote to also control the soundbar) but this effectively prevents me from connecting an HDR capable device (e.g. nvidia shield or xbox) at the same time because only hdmi1 is HDR capable. If i do connect an HDR capable device, I would need to do without ARC (e.g. optical cable). The smart features on this TV are basically a hybrid of chromecast ultra and html5 cloud-based apps (built in). Of the available built-in apps, netflix and amazon work pretty well. Netflix app supports 4K hdr/dolby vision. The amazon app only appears to support 4K resolution (no hdr/dolby). Plex works pretty well but doesn't support live TV features and does strange things to x265 encoded content. The UI for built in apps is sluggish but usable. For non built in apps, the chromecast functionality needs to be used to cast from phone/laptop/tablet. Honestly this solution is messy - Android TV or Roku are superior solutions for smart features. Overall, this is a solid TV in terms of picture quality, but the smart features need work and single hdr/arc hdmi port can be a significant issue if you have multiple hdr devices. If these issues are important for you, then you might want to look toward TCL P605/607 which has similar (ranked slightly lower) picture quality but superior smart features and 3 HDR ports if you can find it at a similar price point.
