Returned it after about 2 hours. After setting it up. I was greeted with a very slow and often unresponsive UI. After hooking up my ps4 pro the screen flickered repeatedly. To top it off the TV didn't come with a remote. If you're looking for a budget 4k tv. This isn't it. Save a few more bucks and get a Samsung or Sony.

VIZIO's M50 Home Theater Display is Quite Impressi

Thanks to VIZIO for letting me preview their new M50 home theater display. Consistent with how technology is changing daily to make users’ lives simpler and easier, the Visio M50 is an incredible upgrade over our three-year-old VIZIO: • There is no “warm-up time.” When the TV is turned on, the picture appears immediately. • The picture quality and color fidelity at an angle is remarkable. • The TV synchronizes to our cable box (ATT U-Verse) faster than any TV we’ve ever had. • “Smart TV” features are more intuitive and easier to use. We’ll see if I can finally convince my wife to “cut the cord.” More technical highlights of the 2017 M-Series include: • SmartCast: VIZIO’s connected ecosystem, powered by Google's "ChromeCast built-in". It’s like having a Chromecast Ultra built in to the display. As a result, the display’s “SmartTV” interface is primarily centered on your phone or tablet, where you can have access to thousands of apps (that are always up to date), and does not require that you access a separate on-screen interface to cycle through content. Pull up the apps you use now, simply swipe to find the content you want, and press the Cast button to send it to the screen. o VIZIO’s SmartCast Mobile app helps aggregate content in one place to make searches on your phone or tablet even easier. Smartcast Mobile will even let you change display picture settings. o New for 2017, VIZIO has added a new on-screen "SmartCast TV” interface that allows you to use the new IR remote to launch top apps directly from the screen (including Amazon!). The remote even has hot keys for access to the top apps (Amazon, Netflix, Vudu, et.al.) • An Ultra Color Gamut (aka Wide Color Gamut) panel, increases the color gamut for HDR content that reaches 96% of the P3 standard. P3 is the standard for Digital Cinema and is the current standard for HDR content. • Significantly increased peak brightness, a key component in HDR, as measured with an industry standard 10% window, which emulates peak highlights in an HDR signal. • Compatible with both HDR10 and Dolby Vision HDR content! No need to worry about format wars. Enjoy both. • Full array local dimming with 32 individual LED zones means the backlight can dim for very small dark portions of the image, improving black levels, while increasing for bright portions at the same time, increasing overall contrast significantly over edge-lit displays. The price on the M50 is currently only $499, which seems very reasonable to me based on what I see for inferior displays at BestBuy and Costco. I know that VIZIO is offering even better prices during the holidays. The TV was easy to unpack and set-up. I had to call AT&T U-verse to connect to our cable box. When they heard we had the new TV, they immediately wanted to send a service tech to see the TV so they would be able to help their other customers that will buying this TV for the holidays. Just ensure you place it where you’ll be looking at it because the picture is much better when you are looking directly at the TV versus being off to the side. My wife is very impressed with the quality, depth, and richness of the picture of the movies and TV shows she watches. SmartCast is easy to access and the picture quality of HDR movies and shows is remarkable. I enjoy watching football and look forward to watching basketball. VIZIO is giving the fan another reason to watch the game from home rather than going to the event since ticket prices keep going up while TV prices are coming down. I highly recommend the VIZIO the M50 home theater display.

Initial setup also had issues with updating the software. It got stuck and needed to be reset for that. Once the TV was up, all 4 HDMI ports did not work. Tried reset fixes suggested by Vizio service with no success. This is going back.

Excellent TV with only minor drawbacks

This TV has an excellent picture! Deep blacks, excellent contrast and despite what professional reviews say, a good off angle viewing area. It get's bright enough to make HDR look good. It could use a quicker interface but it's really not so bad. The only real drawback is that it only has one HDMI 2.0 port, which is the same as the audio return channel. You may find yourself having to choose between your receiver and getting the best picture out of your xbox one or UHD player. Overall I'm VERY happy with this tv.

Three years later and after the Geek Squad protection is done, the TV is shot. I have dark spots, black horizontal lines, and flickering happening at all times. Not to mention the quality of the picture is not at all what I expected.

The tv delivered to my home was broken (spiderweb cracks across the entire screen). A replacement unit was sent and had the the exact problem. I have requested a refund and purchased a similar tv from another manufacturer with no issues. I have 2 older Vizio tvs that have served me well.

We returned this TV. It did not have an internal tuner so we had to purchase Air TV to go with it. We also needed the Roku so we had 3 remotes and poor television picture and performance.

    Incredible picture quality

I'll admit it, I wanted a Sony 900e. However, the Sony was literally 2x the price as this Vizio and after reading many positive reviews of the Vizio, I took a risk and bought it. It's fantastic. Unbelievable contrast (my old tv was plasma) and great color. It gets plenty bright and as a nice bonus, the "calibrated dark" picture setting is surprisingly accurate, needing only a few tweaks to make the screen look it's best. What's really surprising is how incredible 1080p sources like Blu-Rays and Netflix streaming looks. Yes, 4k is the new standard but 1080 stuff looks fantastic on this set. CONS: The viewing angle is incredibly narrow. You will loose picture quality at even a slight angle. Also, the built in speakers are legitimately dreadful, but you should have a sound system for a tv this nice anyways. Finally, Comcast Xfinity cable does not look spectacular on this set. Comcast cable is so compressed and this TV is so good that you really see just how bad Comcast's feed is. It's not a deal breaker but I was a bit surprised by it. Great TV.

    No Buyer's Remorse!!

I have bought (and returned) many TVs in the last 2 months while trying to furnish a new house. Philips, TCL, 2 Sony's, Hisense, and Vizio are named I've tried. Only 1 of the Sony's and this Vizio have stuck. Black levels are fantastic, no problems with casting, picture is gorgeous, and the settings are great. I love the Calibrated picture setting. What I am not too keen on is the remote. There are no video control keys, etc. I also am not too fond of the apps not being built into the display. I've heard that a software update will fix this for the M and P-series displays. Until then, I've purchased a Roku Premiere Plus to avoid having to cast. It works just fine, I just don't find it appealing. Display quality and Vizio's customer service make this purchase more than worth it!!

The Vizio M50-E1 is a stunning display that features all the necessary bells and whistles to stay up to date with growing 4K content. But even those that want to stick to 1080p viewing will find that it is a crisp, clean display that meets their needs as well.

This was the first 4K TV I’ve owned and the second “smart” TV. Generally speaking, I am usually unimpressed by built-in apps and fall back on my Apple TV. But I actually like the apps on this TV. For Netflix, Hulu, Prime, it does the job nicely. And it has a built-in Chromecast which can stream in ultra HD. The 4K and UltraHD streaming alone makes this worth it for me. It has wired ethernet and wireless AC so it’s quite fast too. Picture is great, pretty nice blacks. This needs a sound bar, but that’s par for the course. Size-wise, pretty much average but it looks nice on my wall.

*I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating and in exchange for this review. All opinions are 100% my own. The first thing that immediately impressed me about this display is how crisp and clear the picture quality is. We are now enjoying family movie nights more than ever due to its astonishing brightness with remarkably high contrast levels. I feel like all of my senses are being stimulated at the same time every time since this system boasts over 8 million pixels in every image, four times the clarity of 1080p Full HD, VIZIO’s ultra-powerful, Ultra HD displays produce breathtaking detail and clarity. The best part is, that with Google Cast built-in, our entire family can cast from thousands of mobile apps that they already know and use, right to the M-Series display. My husband is a huge fan of this feature since he just purchased the latest Android smartphone and he is able to access his favorite apps, as well as watch sports in HD whenever he wants.

We just got this tv and its very nice for the price. I will give you our settings which took some time to get good in case you want to try them, at the end. It only shows internet thru Chromecast tho some reviews say they've added on screen apps, not yet, maybe with an update. The remote is kind of cheap feeling wtih tiny buttons and lettering. Sound is terrible, need a soundbar. Out of the box settings are OK but a little tweaking helps. Standard Picture Setting: Backlight-65 Brightness-47 Contrast -50 Color-50 Tint-0 Sharpness-25 Color Temp-Cool Black Detail-Low Auto LED Zone-On Pure Cinema-Auto Color Space-Auto Gamma 2.2 Reduce Black Noise-Low Clear Action - Off We don't play games, so Game setting is off. Saw professional settings online recommending the Calibrated Dark, etc., but found the look muted and dull.

I have looked at several 4K TVs over the past 12 months with varying results. Vizio then sent me this set to review. This Vizio set delivers a great experience for the price tag. It was easy to adjust my picture settings to my liking and it has plenty of HDMI ports. The HDR brightness really shines on games and movies. Seeing UHD movies on this thing is a treat, even in a darkly lit room. Those wanting to dive into the 4K arena would do well to check out this set.

I've had the Vizio M50-E1 for a little over a month, and I love it. The display is sharp, and 4K HDR content, like from my Apple TV 4K, just seems to leap off of the screen! I also enjoy the apps the Vizio uses, and appreciate the ability to use Google Smartcast to stream content to the display.
