Needs reconnecting to internet

We decided to purchase this tv because of the built in apps which we love. We just don’t like how we always have to connect to our wifi every now and then. Picture quality is okay. Pretty decent for a 4K tv.

Bad tv beware!!

When it finally finished the downloading process which took about 2 hrs the smart apps weren’t loaded into the tv! Took it back to Best Buy and got another one! It did the same exact thing so I called vizio. They ran tests on the tv and found out both of them had software issues which they said wasn’t Best Buy’s fault they then told me they were gonna trouble shoot it for 24 to 48 hrs and I could just watch regular tv on it which that worked fine but couldn’t watch anything on my smart apps and after the 48 hrs was up the tv should be fixed! After 48 hrs it still wasn’t fixed so I had to take this one back! I was told by vizio that the software wasn’t downloading the smart apps on those TVs because they sit so long in the stores and not get the new updates!! Huh??? But oh well so if u purchase one of these from Best Buy and your smart apps don’t work it’s a software issue! I ended up getting another brand that works like a charm and I instantly fell in love with it!!

We hoped it would be of the same or higher quality as our previous Vizio TV but it's not. The video suffers when not viewed directly.

Bad Remote Control

We tried setting the TV up but the REMOTE control doesn't work. After finding the WiFi the Remote Control CONTINUOUSLY CYCLED through all the letters and numbers on the keyboard. Called support/vizio for help. She had me Power Cycle the TV and Remote Control TWICE. Same problem. The power button on the TV is not working as well??? Now we WAIT 5-7 days for a Replacement Remote Control. It will now be after Fathers Day before we can setup the TV.

OS for the TV is not user friendly nor consistent.

TV shuts down when you try to switch to the "free" channels input. It is very slow to start up and the input options finicky. The screen goes black and you can't tell if it is on or not. You have to shut it down to get back to the original input screen. This TV is not worth the aggravation at half the price. I bought a 43" inch Samsung TV the same day that has performed flawlessly. Never a Visio again!

I don’t understand it, but I’ve had issues with this tv since I purchased it.

Posted .Hi Ambs22, the TV shouldn't be shutting off in the middle of things. Do you have any other devices in that outlet? Do those devices power off at all? Had Issues

I actually returned another V505-G9 thinking it was busted. I also work in IT as a user client support technician and have good experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues. The unit is unstable while playing 4K input from external sources and when switching resolutions. Specifically I have an xbox one-s and while playing media from the Disney Plus App, the TV will freeze after prolonged (about an hour or less) playback time with the screen showing either black or the input bar at the top. I know the TV is frozen/having issues because it will not respond to remote input or the buttons on the side. The only fix is pulling the power and plugging back in. The other thing is that I don't think I had issues playing 4k content from the physical 4k media disk in the xbox. I would think the xbox was more at fault.. but I can get the TV to lock up by simply navigating the menu when 4k video is playing. Again.. same identical thing on two different TV of the same model. I spent some time on support with Visio, who ended up promising to send a technician to my home, then cancelled five days later after then finding out there were no technicians in my area. After stating that they needed collateral card info to ship me a replacement, I decided it would be easier to drive an hour to best buy to do a return instead. Otherwise its a good TV, aside from gamma being weirdly high, and the screen being pretty dim during 4k uhd. I like the menu and options available, and found the bezels the least distracting out of other available screens. I plan on returning this second unit as well. Hopefully this poor review will spark someone to update the unit at Visio and look into the issue and get it resolved for everyone. I feel like I have done my best to give this TV a fair chance.
