Great TV for the price, missing some apps

TV looks spectacular! Upscaling and 120Hz matched perfectly. Streaming to the display is effortless. The only problem... it's short on apps. Missing HBO Go, Showtime, and Starz apps. With the new line of TVs from Vizio, there's no longer a "store" from which to download new apps directly to the tv. If you want Starz, Showtime or HBO Go, you have to cast them from another device. While the cast(ed?) display looks beautiful, it's still an extra unnecessary step. This TV is probably not "grandparent" ready with the extra steps needed to view other networks. Comes with Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Vudu, CBS (which also never worked by the way), NBC, etc. Just no major movie networks. When Disney comes out later this year, there'd be no way to add it to the TV as well. Returning tomorrow. Shame, I liked everything else about it.

This is my second Vizio Smart TV and it honestly does not disappoint. The picture is very nice (4K) and it's compatible with Amazon's Alexa (although the Alexa skill needs a bit of work). If you have an Xbox One, this is a great TV as well because the console can take advantage of the full resolution. Haven't found any issues with it yet, but I'll update if I do.

    It’s ok

We bought this TV to put in the kitchen area since we have a breakfast bar and figured a TV would be nice. It’s great to watch a movie or game while cooking or just want to have a drink while the kids are watching kid’s tv. With that said, it wasn’t meant to compete to my 2 8 series and QLED from Samsung. I do have a 4 series TCL in our guest room so I used it to compare it as it was about $230 and the vizio was 300. For the price the picture quality itself is good but you can tell it lacks some of the other features that higher end TVs have. Next to the TCL they are neck and neck but the Vizio seems slightly more washed with white scenes. Motion rate is just ok, not bad but not good. I notice slight ghosting when watching a baseball game or football. The “smart” features are very bland and boring. TCL blows Vizion with the built-in Roku but I bought one for this TV. The viewing angles are not that great compared to the TCL. Overall this tv is just ok, for the price point I can’t really complain. So far Airplay 2 is only available to the 65” V series, look at the Vizio’s support page and you’ll only see V656. It was also a reason why I chose it over another TCL but even with the recent update it has yet to support the V505. I think I’m boxing it up and going to spend the extra $100 and get the M-series now that it has Quantom Dot technology. I got a chance to see it and for $400 for a 50 inch, it was certainly a great deal. Stick to the V series if you’re ok with ok and want to save some money. It’s deff an upgrade to any 1080P or Non-HDR 4KTV. I’m personally going to spend the extra $100 and get something drastically better without spending a crazy amount for another Samsung which I’d prefer if I wasn’t trying to save money.

    false advertising

Bought this model in part because it has chromecast built-in, and says ON THE BOX that it works with Google Assistant devices (e.g., Google Home). Out of the box, I could cast from my remote device and I could get Google Home to turn the TV on and off, but no other controls that should be common to chromecast/Google Home, such as voice selecting program or input. After an hour on Vizio and google (both chromecast and google home teams) support lines, and being shunted back and forth seven times, the answer I got was that Vizio had not gotten firmware updates required to fully support Google Home installed prior to shipping these TVs. What????? They say my related update is maybe a month away (of course, well past Best Buy's free 15-day return policy). Picture and sound are average. Other software features also average; LG has inputs on same menu as media services- easier than having to use separate input and smartcast buttons on Vizio. Default services met our minimal needs (Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime). I would recommend to those looking for low price for average quality.

    Won't broadcast Netflix or Hulu

I got one of these Vizio smartcast TVs. The picture quality is superior, but it simply will not work for my Netflix or Hulu streaming channels. No problem with YouTube Tv, which works on anything; and its lineup won't allow SlingTV or Frndly. Not sure why it restricted so many channels, but it does. Vizio's customer support explained that Vizio tech/Corp haven't gotten in sync with Hulu, and blames my slow internet (can't help it, thanks to CenturyLink's snailpaced bandwidth in my rural area). Netflix blamed itself and despite trying to help me work around the error code, could not solve the vizio-netflix technical impasse. This has cost me viewing subscribed channels. My Roku TVs simply are functionally superior in terms of streaming channel capabilities. The Vizio does have a beautiful picture and above average to very good sound quality. I blame Vizio for failing to overcome whatever corporate or technical glitches that's cheating its customers out of viewing options, and those for which we've paid.

This 50" HDTV 4K is as good as it can get. You will need to set up the picture quality/brightness/color out of the box. I connected this set to a JBL 3.1 soundbar and it keeps up with the big screen movie theatre.

I bought this TV looking for the perfect display for a great price. The display & picture quality is amazing but it DOES NOT support HDR or 4K. After connecting several devices that have 4K & HDR support, they all say 'Your TV does not support 4K' or 'Your display does not support HDR'. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but so far, I'm not liking it.

    Absolute bottom of the barrel.

It does work and shows no signs of quitting or conking out anytime soon. That's about the only good I can say about this and the only thing that keeps it from being a 1 star product. Look, check Best Buy's website, their charging MORE for their store brand Insignia in the same size and basically just a slight variation of this. That the store brand is actually more than a national brand should be an indicator that this is a bottom of the barrel TV. I haven't had a lot of 4K/UHD TV's, but I have had enough for a reasonable comparison. If you want a recognizable brand at a budget price this may not be so bad, I suppose. I got it as a graduation gift for my son and we tried it out at my place before he left for his dorm. It was instantly clear that my own TCL & Hisense TV's are actually superior in virtually every way. You basically either crank up the sound on this Vizio or get a soundbar. The user interface for the smart functions are so bad it makes calling this a smart TV almost redundant. The remote doesn't seem balanced and likes to wobble all over the end table when sat down. I ain't too mad at this, I found another place running a sale at $250 and got Best Buy to price match, but really, in terms of recommending I'd say to anyone to simply spend a little over $300 or simply get a different brand as this is among the most basic around. Don't just listen to me, check out the stores display for yourself.

I purchased this TV 9/01/2019 I've had a couple of Visio tv's so I figured I'd get another one. Well the picture was good all of a sudden yesterday I turn the TV on it stuck in google cast mode. To add salt to the wound it will not let you select any apps. I purchased the extended warranty. They're suppose to come out and fix it but I have a issue with best buy we have two accounts also elite members I understand we aren't elite plus but 42 days and about 12 hours on the TV after purchase and I can't exchange it. They are going to send a repairman out but who wants a repaired TV so basically I will have a refurbished TV within 90days. With all the electronics I've purchased from best buy this purchase left a bad taste in my mouth.
