Great picture if ...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this 50" TV to replace an older 46" LCD 1080 LG TV. This Vizio was easy to set up. The TV has a great picture IF... you are viewing it 'straight on' from the front!! Once you get much more than a 30 degree viewing angle to one side or the other, the colors begin to wash out. This TV would never be okay in my living room for instance where some of the seating is off to the sides. Also I was surprised to see that the HDR is defaulted to 'OFF' on the HDMI ports.

Posted .Hello Paul, Thank you for the feedback. A few things that might help you get the kind of picture quality you are looking for. First, make sure the Display is getting a hi-definition or 4K signal. This means making sure that you're source device (like a cable/satellite box) is capable of HD or 4K, and that it's connected to your Display with an HDMI cable that can deliver the HD or 4K picture. You can also change between pre-set picture modes on the display by pressing the PIC button on your remote. This will toggle between a few picture setting that look good in different situations. If your display is in a bright room try Vivid or Calibrated. If it’s in a dimmer room try Calibrated Dark.

Weakness to be improved
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1. Remote is designed poorly, making a pretty good TV hardly to use: a.) The the buttons of the remote is not well marked. The characters are not striking and difficult to read. b) .The form format of the Remote is not well designed. It is too often to mistakenly trigger a unintentional function. 2. TV should start from a default channel / station whenever it is turned on. Local TV station or the channels it was watched last time before power off. Right now it only starts from Smartcast. 3. No matter how many programs a internet TV may provide, The primary Input should be local TV broadcast. TV's Input selection should explicitly include TV, just like what Smartcast Mobile app. has provided.

Posted .Hello Y3772, this television should start from the last input it was on when starting up. Also, there is a TV input for when you are using a direct cable connection and over the air signals. - D

Never again
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I left a previous negative review and don't see it here now? I will never buy a Vizio again. Over hyped. Hadn't had it a week and got the black screen of death. The fact there is a page on Google with that heading should tell you something. Two weeks later, it's zaps out with red bars on the screen. Only reason I don't return is too much hassle. I have to reboot the darn thing everyday day as the lip sync is off everyday! My RCA I have had for 6 years has never given me any problems. Great low price for a reason. Choose another brand.

Returning-Not as powerful as comparable sets.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PROS -Setup is easy -Viewing angles are good -Display is bright -Lots of Content to download CONS -Quality is just ok. HIgher-end 1080p sets rival this. -HDR is non-existent -The sound quality is not good/bass does not exist. -More like a 20hz display. (Remember that a claim of 60, 120, and 240 Hz means it has the possibility to reach that, not run at that capacity natively some, most or all of the time. -My 4k Roku Premier cannot stream HDR content it defaults to 1080p when trying to stream at that rate.

Posted .Hello, our picture quality is generally rated very highly. To make sure you’re getting the most out of you VIZIO TV, we’d recommend making sure your devices are connected with an HDMI cable, and are set to broadcast in 4K (2160p) or Full HD (1080p). You can also individually adjust your picture settings in the menu. For brighter rooms try using the ‘Calibrated’ setting, for darker rooms try ‘Calibrated Dark’. This television should also play HDR from any supporting device as long as the 'Full Color UHD' setting has been enabled. For assistance with this setting please reach out to our customer support.

Worked Great... For a Week.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was super excited when I bought this TV for my room, and for the first week it was great even though I only actually used it about twice during that time. Then all of the sudden no apps would load, except for Netflix. The screen went black and I had no menu or anything to select what app I wanted to go to. Even clicking the app buttons on ththe remote wouldnt take me to any of the apps, again, except for Netflix. I googled the problem and there was a whole forum of people who have had this issue, just none of them had to deal with happening so quickly. I wonder if I was sent a refurbished TV because I dont think I've even seen a TV become so useless so quick. I am.glad it happened so quickly though because at least I could still return it for my money back. I even followed Vizios advice on their help page for this specific problem, which included factory reset, and still got nothing. I had essentially paid $300 for a Netflix machine. Even BestBuy tech support was of no help and basically said I was just better off returning it. Never buying Vizio brand again.

Worst TV I Have Ever Owned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worst TV I have ever owned. When it works, it's great and I would give it 5 stars, but it constantly freezes and won't respond to the remote or the buttons on the side of the TV. I try power-cycling the TV and the remote and neither helps, so I end up having to factory reset it, which is really annoying since I have to reconnect it to wifi and re-login to all of my apps every time. Now the reset won't even work at all. I've had this TV less than a year it's already unusable. I will not be buying Vizio ever again.

Bad quality TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Top part of the tv went dark. It seems like a very bad quality tv. Reading several forums and it is all over the place. Unacceptable that Best Buy keeps selling this low quality of tv.

Unhappy Vizio Buyer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently bought a 40 inch vizio tv. i have had nothing but problems. it turns itself off in the middle of programs, When its turned off its difficult to get it back on, it flickers very badly. it sometimes gives a black screen. i have contacted vizio and they are replacing it. I Will never buy another vizio. Too many problems. Although Vizio support really tries to help. its just not worth the head ache. Vizio needs to put out a better quality product. Buyer beware, better to put out more money and get a better quality product than have to deal with the problems. i have learned, you pay for what you get.

Good TV for the price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was very excited that my wife bought me the Vizio V505-g9... BUT, not to excited about the picture quality. Is this TV really a 4k? My understanding HDMI #1 & #2 are 4k inputs, HDMI #3 maybe not. I did all I can do to adjust my picture screen according to few internet suggestions to no avail. Still OK, but not what I expected. To try and get a better picture, I'd have to pay for someone to come home and calibrate it... not what I would like to do. Also many websites do indicate this TV to be 60Hz, not 120Hz??? Should watching regular TV High Def channels also have some pixelation? I ask cause my 4k LG is flawless. Sorry.

Entry level Smart TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this TV based on some of the reviews I read. Even though there was some mixed reviews and feelings about this product. Personally I think this an entry level smart tv that lacks so many features and options. Don't bother with calling support, their knowledge is 0. I'm keeping the tv for regular use and forget about "smart" features.

Posted .Hello ZEEE, The SmartCast input does have limited applications installed and you cannot add extra apps to the input. We are continuously evaluating new applications for possible addition to this screen. In the meantime you can cast any of the thousands of Chromecast enabled applications to the TV from any mobile device on your network. Ad Lies
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, best buy put the video saying all about Vizios dimmable areas they have on their screens. This model has none, this is misleading customers unless you ask. It also advertises that it is 120hz refresh rate this is also misleading. It really is a 60hz refresh rate that with the help of backlight and the dimmable areas ( which there are none ) it can sometimes maybe reach 120hz. When you are talking refresh rate either it is and can or just tell the truth it is 60hz.

Posted .Hello ThomasK, the effective refresh rate on this television is 120 Hz and you are correct this television does not have dimming zone as the backlight works as one unit.

Great when it works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The demo video on this tv showcases how beautiful it can be but after set up the home screen is blank and stays that why. Check the comments in a unboxing video on YouTube. The remote works until you want to use apps and it just seems like the ui and functionality no longer receive support from Vizio. I’ve had the tv for 4hrs and have factory reset multiple times. I have tried both WiFi and Ethernet. This tv is straight garbage.

Posted .Hi Raddad. Sorry to hear that your applications aren't loading. Can you launch apps using the app keys at the top of your remote (the keys labeled Netflix or Amazon). If those keys also don't work, it could be a network issue. If you have a moment, please contact our support team at 855-833-3221. We'd love to see if we can help.
