I returned the first thinking it could be just a bad unit. The first I purchased had the same problem as the second. Only 1 app button of the 6 buttons works. It is Netflix. The Home screen also does not show up. In these tabs, the internal TV menu is also not visible. The internal TV menu is visible when watching cable, Netflix, a BluRay Video box that I plugged in through the HDMI cable, and in SmartCast. The SmartCast works from iPhone and MacBook and Samsung phone seamlessly. The video is perfect when watching these inputs. The Vizio 65" that I purchased last year works perfectly. The remote from the 65" TV DOES NOT alter the problem with the 50". The remote from the 50" DOES work with the 65", so I know it is not a problem with the remote. Called Vizio Tech Support with no luck in fixing it. She said to return the TV. Will NOT buy this series again. If I did not already have a 65" for a year without a problem, I would say not to purchase Vizio. However the P Series 65" TV works fine.
