Nice Smart TV for the price.

Easy to set up, with some nice features for the price. But it is definitely an entry-level 4k tv. Pros: simple set up, Chrome Cast, and 60 Hz frame rate. I cannot stand the soap opera effect! So this tv is perfect for movies/shows if that is what you mainly watch. If you watch a lot of sports I would spend the extra money on a tv with at least a true 120 Hz. Cons: Horrible calibration options. The brightness, contrast, and backlighting just cannot seem to mesh well with each other for a nice, vivid picture. Color accuracy is questionable at best. Picture is overall 'decent', but you will definitely notice washed-out blacks, and backlight bleed. However, I have seen worse on more expensive models, so you have to take the price into consideration. Overall, a nice buy for a bedroom or gaming tv. If this is going to be your main tv, I would save your money for a higher end model.

I have been on the market for a large screen TV and I'm so excited to have come across the VIZIO D55x-G1 in store today! PROS: The price meets my budget and I'm blown away by the picture quality. Set-up was a breeze and best of all you can control the TV using voice enabled devices! CONS: I don't have any. I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase - great bang for my buck!

Mostly great, with a few minor issues

I've had this TV for about a month now and overall it's great, particularly for the price. It's super bright and the colors are very vibrant. The TV also has quite a wide viewing angle. My only complaint is with the smart functionality. It says it comes with Google Chromecast, but it appears to be just proprietary Vizio software, with limited channels. And if this really IS Chromecast, from Google, why doesn't it include Google TV and Movies? Also, the only way to "add" more channels is to cast them from a phone or tablet with screen casting capability. That's a nice feature to have, but it doesn't equal having a channel that's built into the TV. Luckily we have a stand-alone ROKU, that plugs directly into one of the 3 HDMI inputs, so we just bypass the built-in smart functionality and go with that. There's just nothing out there that compares with the functionality and UI of a ROKU. And our ROKU 3 even comes with a headphone jack, so I don't wake up my wife with loud action flicks and stuff like that. But enough about ROKU... this is still a great TV. I've very happy with my purchase.

Best Price x Performance on the Market

I was looking for a TV for my family room for casual movie watching and my son's game playing. I researched some reviews and I found this VIZIO D55x-G1 on sale from Best Buy on Thanksgiving. I am very pleased with the TV. It provides very clear picture quality (after some adjustments) from any angles or from any distance we watch (we have a big room). Its sound is really great. Setup was easy and I did not wall mounted but you can do it. This TV has 4K resolution and provide High Dynamic Range (HDR) playback. It has Chromecast embedded and Vizio's Smartcast application which provide access to free content and most of the streaming apps like Netflix, HULU and Amazon Video. I'm very pleased with the performance and the price I have payed. Definitely I recommend this TV.

Replacement for another brand . Needed a higher than 1080p TV. This fits the best for price-to-value. Sound not great but we use a soundbar for all tvs we have . Biggest issue, this HAS NO BROWSER! How can a smarttv have apps ONLY! Had I known I would have bought the samsung.

I got this Tv less than 3 months ago and 2 weeks ago it started freezing no matter what I was doing ( Netflix, casting, etc.) it would freeze and I would press exit on the remote and it would say “SmartCast starting up” and after 5 minutes of that it would say “SmartCast unavailable” and I would have to unplug it then plug it back in. Then 30 minutes later have to do it again, and from what I’ve read all they do is send a technician and if they can’t fix it they give you a REFURBISHED Tv not happening, will never purchase Vizio again unless, the send me a new tv.

Worse tv and customer service ever

I got a brand new 55 in smart tv on 12/30/17 and it worked for a month and then stopped connecting to internet. They send out somebody 2 weeks later and the guy looks at it and says well I’ve only been doing this for a week or 2 so we will just call them and tell them I couldn’t fix it and I will sign and say I done all the troubleshooting since I had already done all the troubleshooting anyway since I’ve been in tech service for over 10 years. Then Vizio 2 months later finally sends somebody with a TV for me but inform me it is a refurbished tv to beat it all and I hadn’t even owned this tv but 3 months so I do advise everybody if you want quality tv go with Samsung it if u aren’t looking for quality then just get one of them little cheap brand junk tv’s is just as good as a Vizio hands down guarantee.

I bought this tv as a Christmas present for my husband. Within a month the sound stopped working on it. He sat on the phone with a technician for 45 minutes and still didn’t get the issue resolved. The picture quality is also horrible! I will be returning and getting another brand.

Hello Lindsey, Thank you for the feedback. A few things that might help you get the kind of picture quality you are looking for. First, make sure the Display is getting a hi-definition or 4K signal. This means making sure that you're source device (like a cable/satellite box) is capable of HD or 4K, and that it's connected to your Display with an HDMI cable that can deliver the HD or 4K picture. You can also change between pre-set picture modes on the display by pressing the PIC button on your remote. This will toggle between a few picture setting that look good in different situations. If your display is in a bright room try Vivid or Calibrated. If it’s in a dimmer room try Calibrated Dark. Please contact our customer support again for assistance with your television. VIZIO
