    Great mid-range 4k TV

I originally bought a TCL 55S-515 and was really disappointed with the picture quality of dark scenes. As a result I spent $100 more to get a MUCH better TV. Plenty of picture options to customize and great picture quality for this price range. It's one of the few TV's available that has a full screen array so you don't have to worry about backlight bleeding like some other models in this price range. Best buy has a great return policy so if you don't love it, you can return it or exchange it within the return period as long as you have your receipt and packaging. Hope this review helps someone make their TV decision.

    Smart cast is crappy

Smart cast rarely ever works and has forced us to purchase a Roku to allow us to watch YouTube and Netflix. We bought a smart TV for a reason and having smart cast not work isn’t that reason. The picture quality and the overall tv is amazing hence the 3 stars but having the smart cast suck just cant have it qualify for 5.

Wonderful picture quality! I tried the Hisense 4K 55" (55H8E) for a few days, and it had a beautiful picture, but black levels were not to my liking. This is a great TV at an affordable price!

TV is great, but a Vizio firmware broke a function

I bought this TV as a replacement for another device which had serious backlight problems. This Vizio has been great with a nice contrast ratio and bright screen with little-to-no backlight bleed. This is a minor but irritating issue: The TV comes with Vizio's proprietary "Watch Free" app as a discrete input, which I guess is their foray into Netflix's territory. Unfortunately, back in November 2018, Vizio released a firmware update which REMOVED the ability for the customer to hide the Watch Free input. You can hide all other unused inputs except for the one which no one uses, but that Vizio is determined to try making a profit from. Again, it's a very small issue and doesn't affect the quality of the display, but I found it really galling.

Everything about this TV is great. For the price I don't think you'll find a better looking TV. The problem is that it broadcasts it's own unsecured WiFi network. This allows anyone close by to connect to and control your TV. Since your TV is almost certainly also connected to you home network, this also gives hackers a wide open door to exploit. This has been a known issue on Vizio TV's and some soundbars for more than a year, which Vizio dismisses as a "Feature". There is no option to turn this "Feature" off or even to password protect it. I found all of this out after having the TV for almost a week and promptly returned it and purchased another brand. I will never buy another Vizio product at any price due to this blatant disregard for their customer's security.

Overall I love this TV. I am upgrading from a 32 inch Vizio that I have had for 6 years and had no issues with it just needed a bigger TV for the living room. So ideally I wanted to stick with the same brand. No regrets at all. If you are looking for a new TV this size without breaking the bank I would highly recommend this TV. I even got an Open-box one and it looked brand new, which is great. Looking forward to the years of enjoyment of watching movies, TV and playing Video games on this TV.

I bought this television because, after a week of research, I felt it was the best buy (no pun intended) for my buck. I saw the specs and the image output and was pleased. It worked well for the first couple months. However, now that I'm on my 6th month of owning it, this television has turned out to be the worst purchase of my life. Nothing in this price range has ever given me this many problems. It won't stay connected to Netflix for extended periods of time, and even when it does, SmartCast (the interface that contains all the apps on the TV) randomly crashes, thus disconnecting me from anything I was watching. I tried rebooting it, as per Vizio's recommendations, and I tried a factory reset as well. None of those worked. I've given this television the benefit of the doubt for about 3 weeks now but the problems continue. This is not a problem with my WiFi or subscriptions such as Youtube or Netflix, as none of my other appliances ever go through any of these issues....and again, this TV has only been with me for 6 months. I can't imagine the issues 5 years down the road. To get back to whatever I was watching, I have to power the TV off, turn it back on, and try to connect again. so far I can only get back to what I was watching about 50% of the time, the other 50% of the time, it'll just give me a message telling me it is "loading," and it'll load there for 45+ minutes before it goes back up again. Luckily I am within the warranty period and will change my review if my problems are fixed when the technician comes over. Do yourself a favor, get a Samsung or something.

My 50” insignia roku has a better picture than this tv and had it two years old considering swaping is the TVs I just finished hanging even though one is smaller but jeez two years later things go down hill. Went to the local Best Buy to buy a cheaper sharp model guess I should have 75 bucks less wonderful salesmen that was no were to be found told me how much better the refresh rate was.....if I didn’t need help they would have aggravated me so much I would have ran away like usual but not when you really want to purchase something so if you want a vizeo that when is showing black it’s nothing but garbage get this tv

Hello Wes1986, thank you for the feedback. A few things that might help you get the kind of picture quality you are looking for. First, make sure the Display is getting a hi-definition signal. This means making sure that you're source device (like a cable/satellite box) is capable of HD, and that it's connected to your Display with an HDMI cable that can deliver the HD picture. You can also change between pre-set picture modes on the display by pressing the PIC button on your remote. This will toggle between a few picture setting that look good in different situations. If your display is in a bright room try Vivid or Calibrated. If it’s in a dimmer room try Calibrated Dark. If you are still having issues with your picture please give us a call at 877-878-4946 for assistance. VIZIO

This by far is the best TV I've ever had. The 4k graphics with my ps4 pro is to die for wow! I'm a little upset because I'm having a slight LCD issue. Thank God for insurance. I still would recommend a vizio any day!

I don’t recommend this TV. I know it’s only $499 so I wasn’t expecting the image quality of that of the P series but I’m still very disappointed. Picture looks grainy and bad. NFL games look better on my 2013 lcd Panasonic. I’ve been messing around with different calibrations but nothing seems to improve the quality. Also, the control tiny and awkward. If you are wondering I am using a PS4 pro and watching 4K content on Netflix. Please spend extra for something better or go for a TCL in this price range. The 15 day return policy is up and now I can’t exchange.

For some reason or another I've had trouble with Vizio's. Although I like the price point and the features of the E-series, for some reason the picture quality wasn't what I expected. No matter what settings I adjusted, the picture would always look grainy. So I had to return.
