Good tv

Eh!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not impressed with the brightness control or lack of options as to setting up tv. No control for sound eq, it is what it is, ( lots of treble ) which means you have to buy sound bar. The remote leaves a lot to be desired, lack of options as to picture set up, sound set up brightness controls are lacking. It is a good picture but....! There is a little android controller that comes with it and you can use your iPhone to connect to the tv through YouTube or google chrome. Haven't used the android controller much but have used phone YouTube but you have to use the little remote control to get back to tv, kind of a pain!

Grezt picture horrible remote
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loved the picture quality but google cast remote was awful. So if you intend to use Netflix etc through the tv via their remote don't buy this tv. However if not and you have some other box to control tv then buy it.

Not a bad tv, crisp picture
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like most about this tv, but don't really like the chrome cast feature or the tablet. We have so many issues with the connection between the tv and the tablet. I miss our old Vizio feature of the apps being stored on the tv, since all apps are stored on the tablet.

You Get What You Pay For
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It looks like I am going against the grain here, but I did not care for this "TV" at all. I use quotations here because this is not a TV, but a home theater display. What this means is, if you are a cord cutter like me and do not have cable, you are unable to run an antenna to this set to watch over the air channels. True, I should have done my research before purchasing this product, and I am sure I am in the minority when it comes to cable use, but it honestly did not even occur to me that a TV would lack the ability to, well, be a TV! That was strike one. After ordering a separate TV tuner box from Amazon, I started to play with the settings. While this unit is definitely a step up from an 8 year old 1080p set, the colors just seemed off. I played with the balance and color settings for hours, but things continued to look washed out in high contrast scenes when I was watching TV (all dark shades tended to blend together into one, resulting in a loss of depth). I will say that when watching actual 4K content (via Vudu) this set really shines. The Lego Movie just popped and looked incredible. But I want my TV to look great when watching everything, not just the limited amount of 4K content available now. Strike 2. Strike 3 was when the unit started to show signs of shadow on the lower left hand quadrant (see another reviewer's photos for what that looked like). After all the hassle I had had with this TV, I decided it wasn't worth it to exchange for a similar model that might experience the same issue down the road. I returned this unit and instead purchased a Samsung 55" SUHD TV (yes, actual TV!) and have not had one issue with it. The picture on that model looks SO MUCH better, even when watching over the air channels that do not broadcast in the highest quality. Samsung's integrated apps and services work much better than the Vizio's separate tablet. Oh, and that was another issue that bothered me (so I guess strike 4?); while a tablet is nice for searching for content and the like, it was EXTREMELY ANNOYING to have to use it for basic TV functions like changing the channel and volume levels, or even powering the set on. Trust me, you will get tired of having to look at the tablet to do absolutely everything, when it is much easier to have a dumb physical remote with tactile buttons you can find in the dark, without taking your eyes off what you are viewing. Overall, if you are looking for a budget friendly "TV" and do not have high standards when it comes to picture quality (...then why are you looking at 4k sets??), the Vizio might be for you. If you want to experience top of the line picture recreation, I would suggest you look at Samsung's line. Yes, the replacement I purchased did cost about twice as much, but honestly the jump in price is definitely worth it when comparing the quality to the Vizio.

Posted .VIZIO SmartCast Display's allow cord cutters access to thousands of Chromecast-capable applications through the Google Play Store or iOS App Store. This includes many major network apps, streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, home media apps such as Plex, and the ability to cast a Chrome Tab from the Chrome browser on a computer. While an external tuner is required to watch over the air programming, sold separately, the VIZIO SmartCast platform enables our customer’s access to non-traditional viewing methods for cord cutters. Picture quality is also highly dependent upon the devices connected to the display itself. If a device is connected using component cables the max of 1080i the picture quality will not look as good as a device connected with an HDMI cable which is capable of a 4K signal. The SmartCast Application is designed to work with all SmartCast devices including Home Theater Display's, HDTV's, Sound Bar's, and Speakers, making it so that all devices can be controlled from a single, familiar device that customers already use.

Love the picture, but.....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the quality of the picture and everything else, but you can't get Amazon on this series! Nobody told me that! No Vizio smartcast TV can play Amazon video! These E series tv's are not the same as the other smart TVs. The other TVs have apps on them, the E series has the apps on a tablet and you cast to the TV. You will need some other device that can play Amazon video connected to the TV in order to watch Amazon videos.

Love the TV, but not the remote
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While all the bells & whistles on the remote are nice; sometimes you just want to quickly access all the TV functions...not so easy to do on this device. If your household already has a smartphone or tablet, don't understand the benefit to this remote.

Great TV for the Cost
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV based upon the cost ($699 as of this review) and performance. It is a 4k HDR enabled TV and I use it primarily for gaming. It has been a great TV and it looks fantastic (using an Xbox One S). It took some getting used to having the tablet to manage settings and things of that nature, but it's simple enough to use.

Decent television. Difficult to control.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This television has good resolution. Not a fan of the tablet remote control. It seems very limited and it was difficult to operate, at first. The TV itself isn't a smart TV. I was expecting the TV to have the apps, not the tablet. The tablet seems very fragile and I hope there is a case made for it. I'm an 80's baby and it was still difficult to operate. I'm not a fan of the information the tablet REQUIRES to work correctly. (I.e. emails, Vizio account, etc.) Some people don't understand the Google/Android systems. The in-box instructions were very vague in regards to the tablet and television setup. My biggest issue is the tablet for a remote. I hope this helps future buyers

Bang for your buck
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a great tv for the price. Great Picture but the audio is very disappointing. Sounds like a Walkman, so I suggest pairing it with a soundbar and sub. Overall, I love it & the tablet that doubles as a remote, that's also included

Great TV for the price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the Vizio brand and have not been disappointed by this TV. If you're looking for a 4K TV, you can't go wrong with this. The colors pop and the HDR is amazing. The only issue is there can be a lot of glare if using in a sunny room. Keep that in mind.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First time purchasing a Vizio, but it provides what I wanted within my price range. I like the tablet that comes with it, but we're still learning to operate it. I like the apps, but we have movies, etc. on PLEX, but cannot access.
