Amazing picture but need to mess tweak with the picture settings. Vizio gave in with apps on tv but tv remote with arrows on backorder. They still need to perfect the software on the tablet remote. Still does not combine cable provider guide on tablet. Its Not me and called Vizio to confirm. Luv that tablet with power charger stand instead of using my phone battery to cast. The new 2017 M series does not carry the tablet from the new takeover. Caution hdmi 1 is only for UHD Still in the search for a splitter that works 4K for DVD etc. Sorry can't afford paying double for the P series for all ports UHD.
Only problem is the new Vizio sound bar 3651, Bluetooth stays on and they should eliminate the casting. Constantly pairing with tablet. Factory reset the sound bar - on top hold Bluetooth and low volume then unplug and replug pair. Amazing sound better than LG that was defective only one year old. Get the 2 warranty they honer.
Good luck getting a provider in 2160 4k. So far some Netflix, Direct TV, Dish and Youtube videos. Verizon 740 resolution with some 1080 HBO Showtime movies. (They need to update all of their boxes $$$ ... Direct TV did for the demand of 4K customers. If you have an old box, they upgrade 4k for free). Sling 740 resolution (Note - Sling is Not listed for cable provider HBO to Go streams 1080). Cannot watch Games of Thrones in 740 but luv Slings commercials. System info on tablet will show resolution.
Free TV is 4K with 4K Anton indoor attenna 50-60 miles and Air TV player. I was going to Cut Cable and have a back up just in case sattilite goes out with storms or solar flares.
My Vizio from 2009 1080p still works with No problems. I casted with Chromecast $20 and $50 RCA tablet on black Friday back then. You won't be disappointed in Vizio.

I have owned three Vizio televisions and have never had a problem. I had to buy this one as my TV and amplifier suffered a lightning hit. This 55" TV is a quality product with a great picture and features (better than some brands that cost two times more). The only fault I find is the remote control. It is essentially an iPad. I have found it confusing to set-up and use. However, I suppose I will get used to it as I use it more. That aside, The Vizio is a great, high-quality product with a great price point. I recommend it without hesitation.

I purchased this TV as I was looking for an HDR TV. There are multiple types of HDR and this TV supports both. That was my determining factor. The picture isn't quite as bright as some of the Sony/Samsung HDR TV's that I looked at, but those do not support both types of HDR. This has built in Google Cast /ChromeCast support and that is really nice. It also comes with a tablet remote. The remote is essentially a cheap android phone (minus the phone). You can easily do the same things with your cell phone. It also comes wit a very basic remote. Overall I am really pleased with the unit. I did have trouble with the TV losing connection and not being able to "cast" from Netlfix or anything else. Vizio had me reset the TV and we have been good to go since then. This TV does not include a tuner, so you will need a cable box or something like that to watch TV. This is essentially a computer monitor. You should consider that before buying. Also, WatchESPN does not cast at the moment. I am not sure why. I think the app may need to be updated, but for now it doesn't work.

Wonderful television! This is my 3rd Vizio TV that I've purchased and I continue to be amazed with the quality of Vizio. I was hesitant in the change to a 4K display but this TV was excellently priced to bridge the gap between luxury high end 4K HDR sets. The Chromecast feature takes some getting used to as you must use the included tablet remote (which is actually well designed and functional) or your other smart device with Chromecast apps.
The only con is the lack of the familiar on screen menus while navigating settings or using apps. All those interactions are done through the tablet or smart device.
Overal picture quality and sound is great!

Amazing picture and performance. Been super happy with this TV so far. For the money, the specs and black levels it produces are as good as much higher end models. don't worry about the lack of a tuner as you can get an hdhomerun to have it run through an appletv or roku device which is so much more fun. Get this tv while it lasts!

This is a really great TV with good picture quality 4K UHD HDR and Dolby vision support. Two things that's keeping this TV from being great, One there's no TV tuner on this display so if you like to watch local channels with an antenna you won't be able to do so. The second is this is not a smart TV they are no apps on this tv,everything has to be cast onto the TV with Google smartcast app with tablet which requires Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to be on at all times in order for it to work .No TV tuner and no apps installed on the TV are deal breakers for me.

Thanks for your purchase and feedback on the all-new VIZIO SmartCast™ M55-D0. In order to achieve the best picture quality and to take advantage of the 4K Ultra HD technology, it is recommended to use the HDMI connections. Most high definition cable or satellite boxes have an HDMI output. If using the coaxial cable is a must, there are external turners that can be purchased. We realize this is brand new technology and it takes some time to get used to it. That’s why we’re committed to continuous improvement which is going to make VIZIO SmartCast™ the best streaming experience and easiest way to control your display from anywhere in your home. This tv has excellent picture quality and was priced quite reasonably. The tablet remote has some problems, it does not respond immediately and sometimes not at all. I usually have to press the power button twice before it works and changing the volume is frustrating. I have since started using the "dumb" remote they include as well. That by itself is not enough for me to deduct a star and I still think this is one of the best non-curved 4k sets available.

while i wish i could have found the 65" version for the additional lighting zones as well as screen size i have been blown away by this tv. outside of a lack of amazon video (easily solved with a roku or shield tv) you can stream anything and everything to this device. it also works well with my nintendo switch and doesn't automatically change to the switch's input like the samsung tv's do.
the colors, presets, connectivity, and even the tablet remote are all great. though for some reason my remote still hasn't been updated to marshmallow (android 6.0) even though its supposed to have it already.
i paired it with a surround sound system from vizio and they work great together. imo the m series is the best bang for buck and if you have the money for a p series i imagine it's worth it however at that point if money was no object the only thing better then the m series or p series is an lg oled tv.
one thing to be aware of with the m series is that the 60 inch is an ips panel and not as good with colors or blacks as the va panel on the 55 inch and 65/70 inch models. so avoid the 60inch. also the 65 inch and up m series have higher native refresh rates.
also being able to control the tv from anywhere in my home with my phone is great but one thing to be aware of with how chromecast works (if you have an android phone) is even if the included remote is used to cast your phone can still pause it etc and i've noticed a decrease in battery life due to my phone being able to access the controls to the stream as well. just something to be aware of.

I love my TV. You have to know what you're getting into though. This TV isn't for someone who isn't at least a little technologically savvy or willing to learn. I managed to teach my mom to use it pretty quickly and she isn't too great with technology so it's not hard. It's not a TV per se, but a monitor that you can chromecast things to. I am a cordcutter so for me it's great. I cast all my streaming services from the tablet included, from my phone, and my laptop using Google chromecast. If you just use cable, I imagine it would function like any other tv and you wouldn't notice an issue. I did have to buy a converter box to use an antenna though for local channels. If you're a gamer, this TV is awesome. It's not too expensive and runs my Xbox One games beautifully with minimal lag when in game mode. The TV is worth the price and probably more to be honest. It has HDR which I'm hoping to utilize when I'm upgrade to the new Xbox One but as of now I can't tell you for certain if it works with it or not.

Incredible 4K TV at an Unbelievable Low Price

I bought this tv mainly because of all the features you get for a fantastic price and it kept me under my budget limit which made the wife very happy! I came into this purchase with below my normal expectations for electronics purchases and was blown away at just how good this set really is from all the picture adjustments to the outstanding picture. Of course it's not perfect but for the features and how beautiful the picture is for this price, well it's about as perfect for a budget minded person as any 4K tv can be.
This set has everything that a set priced $500 more has and the only way that you could ever tell that the higher priced sets apart from this one is by the name on the front of it. You might be able to knitpick if you put them side by side but even then I don't believe that you can justify spending that much more on a tv but that's just my opinion. The picture on all channels is much better than my old 1080p set and I was pretty happy with that old beast of a big screen and had no clue at how much I was really missing until I started setting it up and fine tuning made it pop even more and after a month of viewing and playing games with the xbox one s I couldn't be happier.
I guess the only con is the sound but everybody should know by now not to expect much in the way of sound from all newer flat screen tv's and I spent a lot of money on my surround system a few years ago so I would be prepared when I finally upgraded my screen and wow what a difference and I wish I wouldn't have waited so long but that is probably one of the reasons I got such a great buy. So if you haven't already upgraded your sound then you need to seriously start thinking about it because it just makes movie's and gaming just like going to the movie's and we haven't spent money on movie tickets since I purchased our first surround system some 10 year's ago and don't plan on waisting that money anytime soon as we have our own movie theater at home and it's pretty awesome to have that anytime you feel like a movie and it makes gaming a hundred times better than just the speaker's you get with your set, but enough on that.
So if you are looking to upgrade an old set or just need another tv then do yourself a huge favor and check this model out before you can't get them anymore. You will be amazed at just how good the Vizio M55-DO is!

This 2016 M-Series is a great value if you can still find it. Beautiful picture, though I recommend jacking up the brightness to 100% in well-lit rooms. Far off-angle viewing isn't great compared to the Vizio plasma this replaced, but that's doesn't bother me.
The android tablet that you use for chromecasting and setup is a nice touch if you're tech-savvy enough to use it. There is a similar app for iPhone, if you prefer to use that to navigate/chromecast. I can confirm that Netflix, YouTube, and HBO Go work just fine. Amazon Prime Video does not, nor can you chromecast from a DLNA home server without paying for a chromecasting app (I use my PS4 so I didn't bother, but FileBrowser for iOS worked great in demo mode.) Supposedly Vizio will be doing a major software upgrade this year to move the app interface on-screen like most smart TVs have, but it hasn't been pushed yet.
In case you're wondering, you can use the TV's USB port to power the android tablet's charging cradle.

I like this tv for its 55” screen and has very good quality image, having a good internet source at home helps to take all the good definition on this tv, the only thing Sorprise me about this tv is that it doesn’t has antenna entrance so if you doesn’t have cable you need to buy a convertible box which cost around 50 bucks and that solve that problem. So that the only inconvenience about this tv but everything else just great.

After having a Samsung plasma that died in 3 years, I was in the market for a new TV. While there isn't a ton of 4K content available figured if I can kind of future proof myself without having to break the bank then why not. After researching Vizo Tv's and reading a ton of reviews I settle on this TV mainly for the price when compared to Samsung and LG models in a similar size. I have to say this TV does not disappoint. The picture is sharp and bright the few things I have watched in 4K have been stunning. The ability to cast and have a tablet as a remote is a pretty cool notion but takes a min to get used to, but once you do its pretty awesome to use it or even better your phone to just stream Netflix or watch Espn to your TV. It's actually pretty seamless. I am very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend it to anyone in the market for a new TV who doesn't want to break the bank but would like a great picture with some cool extras and 4K with HDR.

Impressive display (especially at the sale price). I own a Vizio P75 and was especially curious to see how the HDR/DolbyVision capability compared to a P series display. I doubt you'll find a better 55" anywhere near this price that offers 4k/HDR. Display uniformity is very good and some of the panel anomalies of the larger P series are non-existent on the M55. I'm a big fan of Vizio FALD. Even though it's only 64 zones, it makes a big difference with overal black level. The cinema bars are black! I surfed through a bunch of my VUDU 4k/DolbyVision titles and was very impressed. While scene brightness and color vibrancy lacks the punch of the P, it's still noticeably better than non-HDR/WCG sets. If you can score one of these for the sub-$700 range, go for it. I grabbed one of the 3.1 sound bars and sub as well. Pretty impressed with that too. The sound bar really gets the Movie center channel audio up and where it belongs. Some people won't like the 1st time setup complexity. It can be a bit confusing. The tablet remote lacks deeply integrated function for basic things like Volume control unless you have the Vizio app or a compatible app launched. This leaves you fumbling between apps for simple button remote function. I like the TV so much, i've learned to live with it. If you're just watching TV, get a Harmony Hub and use the tablet app or for $30 buck more, you get a button remote too).

This "home theater screen" is amazing. You can't beat it for the price. The only downside is there is no built in TV tuner but we don't use antenna for OTA HD so it doesnt bother us. Looks nice, easy setup, and they updated the OS to a better smart cast interface. The free tablet is ok but we don't even really use it. We use a Fire TV box.

I've been waiting to purchase this Vizio for some time and it doesn't disappoint. The picture is crisp and the upconversion to 4k even look great.
The chrome cast capability is nifty and generally easy to use. While the included tablet is easy to maneuver, it is far easier just to use my iPhone that always is in my pocket. The chrome cast occasionally will be unable to connect, but a simple restart of the TV always solves this issue for me.
The active backlighting is normally very good, however there are some situations where blooming and screen flickering are quite noticeable. End credits of films, static images with gradients, and even some sports like racing or tennis. It's enough to notice but not too much that it hinders my viewing experience.

There's definitely a trade-off with this TV. If your main TV watching is regular TV, this may be over-kill. You'll find the tablet cumbersome for anything other than fine tuning picture quality. For blu-ray discs, broadcasts or streaming of UHD 4K shows &/or movies, it shines! Only real complaint is with documentation included. Super vague instructions about I/O ports, usage and best or alternate s/u options. Especially if you're also hooking up blu-ray player, cable box and soundbar or any other A/V equipment. IE; User Manual is ~44pgs and only 3-4pgs deal with the TV itself. The remainder explain how to use & stream with the tablet. The small-ish remote should have a few more TV related function buttons.

First off I like to start by saying that I know this TV doesn't have True HDR but who really has the mount of money needed for a True HDR TV
That being said, I absolutely love this TV, I use my Nvidia Shield which supports 4K and HDR and the picture blows me away! I preordered the new PS4 Pro to use on this TV and can't wait to get it to try it
The only complaint is you have to use the included tablet to do everything like changing settings, the basic remote doesn't do anything beside change the channel, so I hope this tablet doesn't break anytime soon or else I'm screwed.

As the name suggests, I like Sony products but if you are looking to get into a 4k hdr TV in the sub $800 range, look no further.
The picture is great although you do need to fine tune it yourself because some of my Google photos looked a little over saturated on some of the stock picture settings.
The TV has Chromecast built in as well as the Vizio smart TV apps. I've had the TV for a couple of months now and still have not setup the smart TV apps on the TV itself. The Chromecast is more than sufficient for pretty much everything except Amazon prime video.
Sound is lackluster as it is on most TVs but is easily solved by a sound bar or proper stereo.
There are a healthy number of inputs on the TV but keep in mind that there is coax jack and no digital tuner.
The iPhone 7 plus sized Android tablet is a nice touch but keep in mind that you can put the Vizio Smartcast app on Android device and just use your phone.
Overall, I'm quite pleased with the TV. I love Sony but they are a little too pricey when you can get this Vizio that is 9/10ths of the TV and has great connectivity for considerably less.

The tv is quite nice. An excellent 4K picture and I'm a fan of the tablet for casting and adjusting settings. The TV has Dolby's version of HDR (high dynamic range) which is competing with HDR-10. As I understand it, Dolby's is more proprietary and has a bit higher overall specs, but most companies look like they're leaning towards HDR-10. Allegedly, Vizio is working on bringing HDR-10 support to this set, but it doesn't have quite the technical specs needed to support it. If HDR is important to you, get the P-series, otherwise this seems to be a good set.
