The tablet control is terrible.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The apps are casted from a tablet control to the tv by a smartcast app.I took the product back in exchange for a television with the apps built in. The smartcast shuts off at times. Didn't like the product.

Crazy value and quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my husband's birthday. He was blown away. The VIZIO M Series is incredible value. You get a super high quality image with high dynamic range (HDR10 and DolbyVision) and a tablet remote to control the smart features. The product has all the features you could ask for but in the end the picture when dialed in surpasses Samsung and other brands for less money. Our daughter loves the tablet and if she is using it, we can use the VIZIO iOS app to control the TV or fling content to the screen. Nothing else on the market comes close to this functionality because it has Chromecast built in. Apps you already have on your phone just work! If you arent familiar with CAST you should look into it and get to know the benefits over normal SmartTV interfaces. And the product still has IR as well so our cable remote control of the TV when watching normal TV. Last week we received the new HDR10 update and have been playing back HDR10 UHD blurays which look amazing (better than theater). Husband now asking for a Xbox 1S which also support HDR :-)

Would have been a fine product if it didn’t die
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Many impressive specs and features for a fair price, but I am high and dry after the picture just disappeared a couple weeks ago. Best Buy and Vizio left me high and dry.

Easily 2016's Best Dollar to Performance TV So Far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After seeing the success the 2015 M series had, and the glowing reviews the 2016 P series received, I was anxiously awaiting the release of the 2016 M which I thought would perfectly fit my budget and needs. I was 100% correct. This TV absolutely blew me away the instant I turned it on! Out of the box, the settings were dialed in pretty well. I started with the "Calibrated" preset and made some adjustments from there. I prefer a cooler and brighter picture overall while the calibrated settings preferred a warmer more cinematic feel. Once i was done with the calibration, the performance was great. Inky blacks and vivid, popping colors. Uniformity would be my one and only complaint. Because of the nature of the full array backlighting, there are certain scene conditions where you will notice darker corners or a blooming effect around bright objects. You have to STARING at these trouble spots to notice it at all, and even then its very subtle and not enough for me to reduce my rating, especially considering the price and performance of this tv. The 4K and HDR content looks great, obviously, but I was really impressed with the scaling engine in this thing. I play a lot of video games, and they looked incredible. The input lag is also really low, even without the Game mode enabled. My old TV, I had to go through the menu system every time I wanted to switch game mode on and off. For this TV, its one of the first settings you see when you open up the options. You honestly wont even need to use it though in my opinion unless you are an MLG level Call of Duty player, which, if thats the case, you are using a dedicated gaming monitor for that anyway most likely. I have noticed a lot of the complaints about this tv revolve around the included tablet and the difficulty of using the built in chromecast. For me, this wasnt an issue. The tablet paired easily and there is even an app on iTunes and Google Play that will allow you to control and cast everything from your phone just as easily. That's the method we prefer and it has worked great so far. If you know how to use a smartphone, you will not have any difficulty using this TV. There is also a small remote that will let you turn the TV on/off, change inputs, change volume, change picture presets, and pause/play videos being cast. It works great when you need to pause something or turn the tv off quickly and dont want to unlock your phone/tablet to do so. Overall, this is the best TV I have ever owned. We upgraded from a 2012 Samsung LED (UN55ES8000) and this TV makes that one look like a $400 Hisense. You will not be disappointed with this purchase.

Hated It
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used to be a big Vizio fan (we had 4 in the house). When the 55" 1080p died, I figured just go get a 4k Vizio and I'd be happy, right? WRONG. This TV uses a tablet to drive "smart content" like Netflix via google chrome cast... horrible picture on a 4k netflix account. The frame rate was horrible when using a 1080p cable box and relying on the upscaler. UFC 202 looked horrible. Returned it in 36hrs and got a quantum dot Samsung and it was a night and day difference. Will never buy a Vizio again.

There are many picture adjustments that can be made in the Menu, found in your VIZIO SmartCast™ app, to affect this. We recommend adjusting these to best fit your personal preference.

Look elsewhere
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The TV in my opinion is a bit overpriced for what you get. The color on the TV is without a doubt beatable on nicer 1080p TV's. The motion on this being that it is only a 60Hz in this size is also downright awful, you can see it almost instantly on sports. Back to the colors they aren't vivid on the highest setting and the color if it isn't on vivid is extremely dull and unattractive. Look at getting a lower end Samsung or Sony over this TV, not worth giving it a shot.

The one to get
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This set had everything I wanted and left out some I didn't (a tuner). And the price is right. Right out of the box this set looked BAD. I had hung uit on the wall already, its very lush looking, silver trim, a neat tablet, but the pic was mad, only BLURAY looked close to decent, but it got better, I think the octa-core proc is running an adaptive program on upscaling, and after I calibrated it, it really looked good after the second day or so. My 4k upscaling sony blu had my old blu rays looking really looking good. But then I watched Jessica Jones in 4k on Netflix, and my god, it was amazing. The first episode is the best, the picture is simply amazing, and a little Dolby vision logo pops up when it starts. Using the freebie tablet that's included and casting with my LG I could see the picture details in real time as it went from 480 to 1080i to 4k, and the hdr box said yes. nice. I have all of my devices set up[ for "casting", have been doing it for awhile with my old set, this one works fine. The tablet is nice, you can even use it as a "real " one if you want, the 720p display looks good. Everything about this set is first rate, the tiny remote even has Duracells. The charging stand for the tablet has heft, is metal, makes a great alarm clock or coffee table device, looks good. This set is supposed to be a 1,000, its well worth it. At 699 its a steal. Full backlight, the only way to go, and a VA panel, which is also the only way to go. The off angle viewing is a lot of hype, in my opinion, I had a IP panel for two years and the black level only gets worse. There are a few sets out there with HDR at this price or even cheaper, but emphasize the word "cheap", and no Dolby vision at all hardly. So the upscaling looks even better and better every day, or maybe I am getting used to it, but 4k is the absolute best, don't see how you could get much better. BTW after I put the remote on my Harmony there was something called "VIA", don't know what that is, but if you remember the set on the box with the pretty picture, that is what VIA does, puts up a slide show of HD pictures, since you can't turn the screen off its good for when you listen to music. All in all a very good set, certainly at this price point, there is nothing left out that you need. And the tablet is really cool, if a bit underpowered. Better hurry tho, this was next to the last one at my best buy

Great TV except for the whole remote business
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to buy a TV that was 4K, HDR, and affordable. This TV checks all those boxes in spades. Picture looks great and I have no complaints... except for one - the tablet remote. This thing is worthless. Unless you REALLY like how Chromecast works, it sucks. After about 1/2 hour of updates, I got it to work, only for it to lose connection with the internet after an hour or so, forcing me to re-pair the tablet with the remote and reenter my wifi password. It was a headache from the beginning. Even when I got it to work, the quality wasn't good (definitely not 4K) and I blame Chromecast for this. Also, I could do most of what that tablet remote was supposed to do from my own phone - making it even more pointless. It seemed like a good idea in theory, but in practice left much to be desired. I was forced to work around it - I bought a Roku Premiere (4K) and solved the problem. Through the Roku, picture is great and I have no complaines otherwise. I'd have given this TV 5/5 stars if it wasn't for the remote.

TV didn't last over 24 months
