Amazing TV for the price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV has wonderful picture. Great color, black and brightness. I also love the Tablet remote. You're able to cast from so many different apps, its a breeze. Makes me feel so high tech and fancy lol. The only downside is the sound quality could be better. Overall very happy with my purchase.

So Far So Good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So after reading several reviews and researching on rtings.com (great site for information), I decided to go with this TV. So far it has been great. No issue with the casting at all. The kids love it. for YouTube and other apps. I run a majority of apps such as Hulu, Netflix, MLB.com, etc..through an ethernet wired PS4 so if you do the same the lack of smart apps is no big deal. Also calibrated the TV through rtings.com for each picture mode and the picture is awesome.

Vizio TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent picture quality and superb sound for a TV. Most other tvs have terrible sound but this one is great, although I do have a stereo system hooked up to it. The only negative is that it doesn't have a tv tune. I'd happily pay 50 more for the unit if it had a TV tuner. Docked one star because of the digital tuner, otherwise it's an excellent TV.

Total Headache!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a big Vizio fan and have owned at least 10 Vizio TV's...But, this TV kinda sucks!!..The picture quality seems to be ok out of the box, BUT, the tablet remote is such a PAIN and mine doesn't stay connected for more than 30 seconds at a time, even when only 5 feet from my modem, it just drops the wifi every 10 seconds and then will NOT reconnect, until you re-program the whole thing, then it does it all over again..So, I can not adjust the picture!!!...AND, 55" and smaller is only true 60Hz, which is ridiculous for a 4k TV!!...Save your money on this one folks and either buy the 60" and up, or a different TV!!

Ok TV for the unassuming consumer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I first want to start off by saying this is the first review I've written in well over a year for a product, and I do a LOT of online shopping. That said, I only write reviews when I have either a VERY good experience, or VERY bad one. I have to say, dealing with this TV and its interface is beyond frustrating and migraine-inducing. I first thought the idea of the Google Cast was great, and was eager to try it out. Wow. Boy was I wrong. I am a 21 y/o and had major difficulties using this TV. DO NOT buy if you are technologically inept, or technologically capable like myself. For either person, it will end in the same frustration where you wish you could open a window and throw this paper-weight outside. Every time I tried to use the "Smart" functions, it ended in me calling Vizio and spending at least a good half hour on the phone while unplugging the TV, modem, router, you name it. "Try unplugging the router and wait 30 seconds...try turning off the tv and unplugging it....try restarting the tablet.....try clearing the data on the apps" is all you hear from Vizio for a half hour minimum on each call. The tv is great when it works, but I have to say, the amount of times it did not work far surpassed the amount of times that it did work, for me at least. I am not saying you will have the same experience as I have had. I think this TV has potential to be great, but do not consider buying this until further updates come out to fix the many, many software bugs littered throughout the OS. Nothing more frustrating then coming home from a long day of work and wanting to go veg in front of the couch and watch some Netflix to find out, low and behold, your $1,000 paperweight (as I like to call it) does not work and you are stuck watching strictly cable (I know, first world problem, but still, you're paying $1k, you deserve more). I would also wait until more independent reviews come out giving calibration settings, as I did not think the color was that spectacular for the upcharge you're paying. I also think Vizio made a big mistake making this a 60Hz television...at the 55inch segment, I expect 120Hz, but perhaps that is just me and it will not bother you. I did think that the 4k content was beautiful, but, as everyone else will tell you, there truly is not enough content out there to forget about the bad picture on lower definition content. That is why, when you see it in store, you say, "Wow, that's incredible." Then you bring it home and realize unless you have DirectTV or other 4K providers, there are about 15 titles max on Netflix or any other streaming service you can watch. I truly had high hopes for this "TV", as the 2015 model received glowing reviews from CNET and other review sites. I have found Rtings.com to be the most trusted and independent these days, so go there before you even go to CNET or the typical choices. If you are on the fence and really want to give it a shot, then I would only recommend doing so if you are an Elite or Elite Plus member, as that allows for a maximum 45 day return window. Needless to say, I have my "paper weight" boxed up and ready for return, and I already have purchased a 2015 SUHD Samsung (I would even suggest going back a model year before purchasing this one). It's also noteworthy that this is not even a TV, and instead, simply a "tuner free display". Definitely worth noting for the cord cutters out there. I gave the "TV" 2 stars, because, as I mentioned, I think it has a lot of potential once the bugs are resolved, but after I have had to call Vizio more than 8 times in the 19 days I had the "TV", then that is where I say, Adios mi amigo, back to Best Buy you go....

Mid-Range 4k TV that does nothing well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This set will leave you disappointed. I purchased one in July and returned it in August 2016 for a Sony XBR55X930D. The HDR capabilities of this set are really poor. If you want just a really nice 1080p picture with okay 4k, save some money and go with the Vizio E Series. If you really want competent HDR pay a tiny bit more and go for the Vizio P Series. The in the middle M Series is a waste of money and shouldn't exist. If you really want high quality 4k HDR, go with the aforementioned Sony. But if you're a loyal Vizio customer (they have really good customer service) and you want real 4k HDR, buy the P Series and thank me later.

Great tv
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our last two TV purchases were Vizio and they don't disappoint. This is the only brand we will buy from now on as they're just as good as higher end brands and cost less. This TV in particular has a great HD picture quality as big as it is, downside is our satellite provider has only one 4K channel (not a channel you can watch shows or movies) so we haven't gotten to experience that part of it yet.

Great picture, love the cast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been looking for UHD TV to replace my old 47"LCD TV had for 8 years. found VIZIO M55 which shows great picture quality. I've been using chromecast with my old TV and realized VIZIO smartcast and chromecast is actually the same. Now I put that on my bedroom TV. it can cast anything from my google cast app in iphone. Also android tablet comes with TV works great, felt like I got tablet for free.

Might need sound bar
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Tv picture is great. The sound is the reason it doesn't get 5 stars. For movies or shows that support 5.1 the speakers get faint. I have to turn my tv up to 60 or more when on a normal show 25 will do. Might need sound bar

Vizio M55 - 2016 model
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having three plasma TV's (Toshiba 720p 50", Panasonic 1080P 65", Samsung 63" 1080p 3D)as my main viewing displays, I was looking to replace the smallest one with a decent quality 4K TV without breaking the bank and my first step into the 4K waters The Vizio has gotten some good on-line reviews in general, although I didn't see any consumer reviews at least on Best Buy prior to purchasing. This had been slated to replace a Toshiba 720p plasma. The good - TV about the same overall size, but 5" more picture and not nearly as heavy or power hungry. Bad news is the motion blur was so bad that any small improvement in picture detail was greatly overshadowed. I used the same scene from a Netflix movie played on both sets, showing flourescent lighting and a character in an all white outfit. On the Vizio, those elements were like watching a computer screen flicker, driving me crazy immediately. Same scene on the plasma, the elements were rock solid and not a trace of flicker. And at 50" and 8 ft viewing distance, overall detail and contrast were no great improvement, if at all Not sure how the P series would fair at 120hz, but I agree with another reviewer that at this price point, that is what the refresh rate should have been on this set. Streaming 4K content such as Daredevil yielded the same motion blur result and I didn't feel the overall picture quality was even as good as my plasma's. The Chrome Cast feature was more annoying than helpful. While not horribly difficult to use, I found very little advantage to it. We mainly use other devices to stream NetFlix or Amazon video anyway, such as a PS3 or internet enable blu-ray player. My personal opinion is I will wait for OLED to come down in price a bit or find a good deal on an open box. I think this test highlighted for me that I pay attention to video quality far more than I thought I did.

It's All About Aesthetics...

The tablet however has been acting up lately for me though I am planning on calling Vizio soon so it should be resolved. Buy this tv because most people here highly recommend!! Android tablet is terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, this TV has a great picture. It's a shame that the remote and casting features are so bad. The initial set up was a piece of cake and everything was working great. A few days after set up, I had to unplug and move the TV for painting. After that, my TV was never the same. I could only stream for about 30 min before I kept getting network disconnection messages even though the TV and the tablet were connected with a good signal. All of my other devices were working just fine. It got to the point I tried to repair the tablet and that just made things worse. So I reluctantly decided to do a factory reset. Now my TV is unusable. I got to the screen where it checks your connection, and it kept saying web page unavailable. Now my TV is stuck on the register your Vizio Display screen. I've turned it off and and unplugged it with no luck. What good is a TV if you can't use it, or if it's difficult to use, or if it just plain doesn't work. I considered my self fairly tech savy, so that's not the problem Do yourself a favor and skip this one and get a TV with a real remote and apps built in.

Pixel's all fried out in 1/4 of the screen.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased in 2016, in 2022 the bottom left quarter of the screen became dim compared to the rest of the television. Apparently 1/4 of the LED's faded out in the bottom left quarter. Now it is all dim/shadowy in that section of the TV. Also the ARC HDMI connector is very sketchy, on occasion it will not turn on my sound system or sometimes it will turn on my sound system yet play sound from both the TV speaker and my sound system which makes it sound like an echo all over the place. Sometimes turning the TV off then on will fix it, other times I need to unplug the TV entirely to reset it. I will never purchase another Vizio television again.

Good TV; Smartcast Streaming Sucks!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've had this tv for about 4 months. No issues with the picture or TV, although I do believe other brands seem to have a richer picture. The "smart" in this TV is virtually worthless. You stream through an Android tablet. This was represented by the sales rep as a huge step forward. What a joke! First the device does not include Amazon, So if you want to stream Amazon you have you do it from another device like a Firestick. Next there is always some issue with the Android. Apps need to be updated/reloaded, memory managed/purged, resynced to the TV, etc. Everytime I want to stream it takes about 10-20 minutes of fiddling with the tablet and that's if I don't give up. Keep in mind I only use this tablet as a remote! Nothing else. It's a pain in the butt. So much so I'm sorry I bought the TV.

TV is OK, tablet remote is a terrible idea
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had nothing but problems with the tablet as a remote. It continues to bomb on updates and I constantly have to reset it. Now on this last time it went into an endless loop and wouldn't allow me to even logon successfully. Vizio support was useless and just shirked all responsibility for it and said "You need to talk to Google, it runs android" which is beyond useless to me. This is a terrible idea with even worse execution. Buy another brand that comes with a normal remote that isn't prone to failures.
