TV didn’t work out of the box

TV wouldn’t turn on straight out of the box. Called Vizio and was told the TV was, in fact, defective and that someone would call within a week. No one called until the following week. By that time l returned it because l didn’t want to risk being outside of Best Buy’s return period. Best Buy refunded my money with no hassle.

It was a good TV for a couple days until I saw a dead pixel. I exchanged it in for a 65". Hopefully it's better.

Very disappointed in the picture quality, everything is washed out. Tried adjusting settings over and over, still a haze seemed to be ruining the picture, nothing popped. My 6 year old Sony is 100 times better than this product. Hooked up my ps4 pro, again the HDR picture was washed out. I would not recommend this if you want a great 4k picture.

I had to make to many adjustments to the picture. The blues, and reds were glowing. The date and time were wrong. I had to reset the television to factory defaults and restart it several times to fix that problem. The television does not see my iphone 11, so watching videos from your phone is an issue on this television. Don't buy this television.

This model is very fragile and damages very easily. I returned my Vizio 55" M55 three times and finally opted to upgrade to the OLED 4k UHD. If you decide to go with this model, buy it in the store and verify it works before you leave otherwise you'll be back for a return.

I bought this when I needed a new TV and the brand I usually get was out of stock everywhere. The user interface is garbage. The app is a huge pain. Smartcast is nice I guess but it's not the same as a dedicated app. The lack of bluetooth audio/private listening mode is unforgivable.

I bought two TVs from them but was never told that I only had 15 days to return them. They’ve never been opened and yet I’m stuck with two TVs that I don’t need. They refused to take them back or even give me a store credit. I will NEVER purchase from them again.

Quality Control and Local Dimming Issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've been shopping for a 4K TV for a while now, to upgrade from a 1080p Vizio in time for next-gen consoles. Initially I purchased last year's Vizio M-series but returned it when I realized it lacked HDMI 2.1 and a new model was coming this year with HDMI 2.1. Otherwise, I was very happy with the picture on that model and generally happy with my old Vizio, so I decided to stay with Vizio for this year's M-series. Note that I bought this from Walmart, because currently Walmart is the only retailer that carries this version of the M series with 90 dimming zones (M55Q8 versus M55Q7 at Best Buy). The first set to arrive had four areas of dead pixels and moderate dirty screen effect. I ordered a replacement and havent noticed any dead pixels, but theres still a small amount of dirty screen effect, mostly only noticeable when panning over the sky or in video games. The display looked great on the PS4 Pro and using the SmartCast apps for 4K content. I also really appreciated the inclusion of an Apple TV app, which is super helpful for finding movies in 4K. I tested The Dark Knight and it looked and sounded amazing with Dolby audio hooked up to decade old surround sound speakers using a digital audio adapter. However, having Active Full Array on Medium or High caused problems. In scenes that cut between light scenes and dark scenes, such as when Commissioner Gordon is interrogating Joker in the holding cell, there was a noticeably lag before the picture adapted to the new lighting conditions, and you could see an incredibly distracting flicker; this is resolved by having Full Array set off. This is a huge issue to me because it's one of the main benefits for getting this model with increased dimming zones. I have to wonder if this can be addressed in a future firmware update. I also encourage everyone to read the review on rtings.com, which showed more problems with local dimming on this set (though I never noticed exactly what they were describing, the flicker was very disappointing). Another disappointment was the upscaling of 1080P content using the built-in SmartCast apps. Im debating buying an Apple TV 4K or NVIDIA Shield for their upscaling. The Vizio sets are often disparaged for SmartCast, the built in streaming software, but I thought it worked pretty well and offered the main apps, including Apple TV. HBO Max was the only one missing that I noticed. There were a lot of ads for free and suggested content which I wish you could turn off. Overall I am happy with this display, which looks beautiful in 4K and on PS4 Pro, for a reasonable price, with HDMI 2.1 to somewhat future proof the panel. Note that it does not support 4K at 120FPS because it's not 120Hz, but I have doubts about whether the PS5 will be able to really render next-gen games at that frame rate. If you are not set on HDMI 2.1, I advise you look at similarly priced TCL TVs because they don’t seem to have the local dimming issue this one does.

Hello George, sorry to hear that you're having trouble. That's not at all the experience we'd like for our customers. Typically, a lip sync issue can be narrowed down with troubleshooting. If the lip sync is off while watching content on your favorite apps, that indicates that we would want to troubleshoot network connections. If the lip sync issues only happen on cable or satellite boxes, we will then want to troubleshoot settings on each individual device. For that troubleshooting we will typically start with the TV, moving to any VIZIO audio devices if used, and then finally to the cable or satellite box. Please reach out to our support team on support.VIZIO.com by clicking 'Contact Us'. We'd appreciate the chance to try and help you. VIZIO
