Hi slomo, At VIZIO we pride ourselves on our highly rated picture quality. Sites like CNet, RTings, and Reviewed.com consistently rate VIZIOs picture quality among the best in the industry. To make sure you’re getting the most out of you VIZIO TV, we’d recommend making sure your devices are connected with an HDMI cable, and that you’re getting an HD (or UHD) signal. You can also individually adjust your picture settings in the menu. For brighter rooms try using the Vivid or Calibrated setting, for darker rooms try ‘Calibrated Dark’. If you’d like any assistance adjusting these settings, our customer support team would love to help you dial in the TV to your preference, you can reach them at 844-254-8087. VIZIO

Loved this tv…until a 4 years went by. One morning I turned it on and the screen was filled with vertical, red lines. Now does not work. Moved our 10 year old Samsung tv back into the living room.

A decent budget tv with glaring flaws

I purchased the 2019 Vizio M series and was very impressed with it at the price. With the upcoming new consoles, I purchased the 2020 M series to be able to use the new HDMI 2.1 support due to my love of the 2019 model. The 2020 model did not get the same love the 2019 model did. For starters, if you turn off Low latency mode, you will get a weird line on the bottom of the tv. Second, the tv will randomly cut out ambient noises, no matter the source, which is bizarre and annoying. Thirdly, unlike the 2019 model, the 2020 model doesn't let you temporarily disable the volume popup if you're watching a film, or at the very least let you exit out once your volume is set (you have to wait the full 5 seconds for it to disappear unlike the 2019 model where you could press exit on the remote anytime to make it immediately go away). This problem becomes much worse when subtitles come into play. You'll have to pause whatever you're watching every time you have to change the volume... These were the issues I had 8 months ago, and I thought there was no way vizio would ignore them and not send out firmware updates, but I was wrong. This tv gets borderline no support from Vizio. In 8 months, not one of these issues was patched let alone even addressed. The picture is good overall minus some judder with 24fps content, especially for the price, but the lack of support for the newest M series model, when my 2019 M series had zero of these issues is such a bummer. I'd stay clear of the 2020 vizio M line. It's obvious it's just a segway to their 2021 line and they treat it as such. I'll probably be a bit more cautious buying another vizio, despite great success in the past.

    Great Value

My initial impression of this TV was pretty good for the price. This was my first time using a Vizio tv so my expectations weren’t too high however it definitely exceeded expectations after using it for over a year in comparison to a Samsung tv I purchased months after this one. The software was super smooth and would update itself frequently without me having to run into any issues in between. I purchased this tv in 2020 and sadly as of April 2024 the display has gone bad. For a 500 dollar tv though I was able to get my bang for my buck. Definitely recommend this tv if you’re looking for an afforadable decent tv that won’t give you many issues.

Pretty good, while it lasted, It was good from Nov.2020 until yesterday June 08, 2024. 3 years and about 7 months, so even with a 3 years extended warranty it wouldn't be covered for replacement.

The tv struggled to stay connected with the Internet, and the screen went out after 3 1/2 years (only had a 2 year warranty). Overall, it wasn’t terrible but I would explore other options.

Pros: *easy set to up and use, lots of features *great interface (esp vs Samsung and LG which are prohibitively bad) *good value *Vizio quality is up there with the best in this price range (having owned another for over a decade) *simple streamlined design Cons: *picture not very visible from an angle *quite reflective near a window or under bright light *red hues/pink tint overbearing on occasion regardless of settings, especially with lower quality content *for sports: could be brighter and crisper

The picture looks great, no complaints there. But half the time the TV doesn't even turn on, or crashes immediately after the Vizio logo appears. It also randomly fails to connect to my network, and tops off at 40mbps although every other device in my house gets 200mbps from the same WiFi access point (even my phone). The remote is extremely sluggish, my 10 year old Panasonic 42 inch HD TV with a cheap Roku is 10x faster to navigate menus and load programming. I miss my dumb TV.

This is the 2nd Vizio ive bought in 6 1/2 years. The picture on this one is good, (not excellent). The Audio is absolutely cr--p. If i were a Vizio engineer of rep. id be embarrassed, The Best Buy salesman asked me what do you want to do about "audio". I didnt quite understand at first but then she said sound bar. Oh, now i understand. I relied i already have one. What does this tell u. Its almost a necessity to have one if your going to enjoy this type of tv audio delivery.

This tv was great when it was great but it was bad most of the time. Eventually had the common Vizio issue where it would spam button inputs (one volume up click results in tv responding with infinite volume up clicks) eventually retired with geek squad and replaced with a TCL

OK, I'm not one to to leave horrible reviews or reviews period but I thought I had to to try to save someone else the aggravation that is this TV. Let me first say I was an avid VIZIO customer for years I switched to them from Sony in the mid 2000's and every TV in my house right now is a VIZIO. That being said I will never buy another VIZIO again! Their quality control has become awful. This has become evident with the current TV's that are in my house now (the oldest being 2016 model) to M55Q7-H1 that I'm attempting to warn you about. I recommended this for my 72 year old mother because it checked all the boxes she needed and at an affordable price. She is not tech savvy and it has been nothing but problems for me and her. The OS on the M55Q7-H1 is so clunky and horrible, when connecting a sound bar to the TV through HDMI an annoying pop up warning comes up every time you power on the TV and doesn't go away unless you hit a button on the remote not to mention it takes for ever for the TV to recognize the sound bar in the first place. and even if you turn the the TV speakers to off in the settings (because you have soundbar) they still come on. So one minute it's quiet and you can barely hear it then it's blaring because it finally found the sound bar and don't attempt to use the HDMI CEC what a blinking stuttering handshaking mess. (I have tried many different HDMI cables) I have had to mount the power strip to be easily accessible because the TV will just black screen on her when trying to switch inputs using CEC. Causing her to have to unplug the TV to get it to come back. I really really regret recommending this TV to her. I've taken to giving her my AVR to totally take the sound and input switching out of this TV's hands. Which I still have to turn the volume on the TV all the way down because the turn the speakers off function DOES NOT WORK! Yes this TV has a decent picture and if you have a AVR and plan to use this TV as monitor only then maybe it would be alright but with all the panel issues I've had on 2 out of the 3 TV's I have in my own home I wouldn't risk it. People can WOW you with reviews over this models picture quality. But those of us who have ever bought a car before know yeah it looks shiny and sexy on the outside but what's under the hood? How's it drive? How long will it last? Those are the questions you should be asking yourself. I can tell you right now what's under the hood of this TV SUCKS! And from my experience with every single VIZIO TV in my home currently, the M55Q7-H1 probably wont last more than 3 years either. VIZIO suckered me this last time but never again!
