To many software issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a Product Design Engineer and Vizio fan and past customer I recently purchased an ‘OLED55-H1’ and Elevate Soundbar combo. After “updating the software” and reading the manual front to back then refining the settings for my needs I ended up experiencing a laundry list of software issues and unstable settings. After setup and a month of use I also have some suggestions to consider for improvement and some of the many software issues I’ve experienced. I called Vizio tech support to help me work through these issues but that turned out to be a sadly poor experience. For example: I explained that I was connected directly from my router to the TV but the TV was only connected via Wi-Fi and in the networking menu under ‘Wired Connection’ it states Disconnected. I asked how I can change to a direct connection to take advantage of the additional speed of my 1Gig connection as opposed to the limited speed of Wi-Fi, which may also help to clear up some of the other issues I’m having with sound drops from MP4 files. She told me don’t worry about it as long as I was connected via Wi-Fi that would be fine. I explained my old $235 dollar replaced Vizio TV connected directly and I had no sound issues so I would like to connect this one directly too. She replied, just leave it alone because this a new TV and it uses Wi-Fi so I asked why in the TV menu under the networking ‘Wired Connection’ it states Disconnected, connected to Wi-Fi and she didn’t know. Every issue I asked help for was met with illogically conceived ideas to cover for her lack of knowledge, so finally I gave up. If I could do over I would have never bought this TV, it’s just been so frustrating. Issues I’m having (I have this TV connected to my computer and use as a TV/ Monitor. MP4’s on my computer and YouTube have significant sound drops • Black screen while typing or reading after about 5 to 10 min. I’ve changed the Sleep Timer from on to off and Auto Power Off along with other combinations. Sometimes it will not blackout off for a day or two then starts blacking out again without making any menu changes! Very aggravating. Please fix issue and make it stable. Update, now it always happens, ultra aggraveting • Extreme mouse curser lag for any picture settings other than ‘Game’ at first I thought it was a mouse issue but after trying 3 different types of mice wired and Wi-Fi and different drivers the result was always the same. The curser is only normal under ‘Game’ which is painfully limiting • I have a second Vizio TV (used only as a TiVo TV) next to this new OLED (used primarily as a PC monitor) and every time I use the remote both TV’s react like twins. Tech support said the only solution is to separate the TV’s I told her that’s not a solution as I need them next to each other, she replied that’s the only solution. “OK if so then I need to replace one of these Vizio TV’s with a different brand TV. Guess which one will be going. Actually I’m guessing there’s a different code or pin I could program into one of the remotes (I was hoping tach support could help but I’ll have to look into that myself) but if so the person whom I spoke with had no clue. • Power indicator is ‘on” but no light anywhere to show it’s on and ironically I don’t see a Vizio emblem on the front of the TV or Elevate soundbar either. Guess their marketing manager was on vacation that day • About half the time when I turn on my PC the OLED turns on like a monitor would but the other half it doesn’t turn on. ‘Update, it doesn’t turn on at all anymore’ Please stabilize (the HDMI on the PC’s graphic card is also a matching HDMI 2.1) Hopefully these will be addressed in upcoming software updates. Suggestions for improvements: 1. Allow the consumer to name create and save multiple points for all settings. As I found out when TV gets unplugged or you lose power you have to start all over trying to remember all the settings you created. Having different set points would also be helpful to quickly switch between different viewing profiles like movies, TV and PC monitor modes. 2. The HDMI cable plugs and others in the back must be orientated correctly to plug in but they plug in upside down and it’s dark and hard to see where the plug is and what the correct orientation is. There are just too much fumbling and mumbling obscenities while trying to insert the cables. I imagine the receptacles are upside-down to help keep the cables straight however it would be a much more pleasant experience for the consumer if the receptacles were flipped opposite and they plugged in ‘down’ so you could actually see the receptacle, and it’s orientation to make plugging in so easy and just loop the cable over a little molded in hook a few inches above it. 3. Of course the following come at a cost but the increased performance would allow Vizio to sell more units even with the added cost. For the Elevate soundbar, increase the diameter of the case and speaker’s 25 to 35% and rear speaker’s 10% beyond that as they are too small. When the ends rotate up there is significant loss in frontal sound. I can’t hear the up firing speakers at all. It may be I’m too close to soundbar and the sound is hitting behind me. I’m sure many people that are not in the perfect position to hear the up firing speakers either. Solution- allow the rotating speaker ends to be tuned to the best position for each person so when they rotate up they stop at the same position the consumer programs for the best individual experience. I didn’t cover the software issues I’ve experienced using it as a TV but they aren’t as serious as those I’ve experienced using it as a PC monitor. If you’re planning to use this as just a TV then I think you may be fine. If you’re planning to use this TV for a PC monitor at all, the Vizio OLED is clearly not designed to be used as a monitor so you should strongly consider the LG 48” OLED instead. LG’s software is much more refined and designed to for use as a PC monitor too.

We Love It!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We love this TV so much we bought a second one. It's not as heavy as our previous TV, and the thin bevel makes it look sleek, but you have to be careful when moving it. The picture quality is great! It has rich blacks and contrast, and doesn't have a ton of glare in direct sunlight like our previous Plasma. The built-in streaming is convenient, and we like the built-in apps, though there are some common ones missing.

Great picture, a crap ton of bugs and glitches
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Save yourself sometime and $$$$ and purchase a different brand. I eagerly purchased this tv thinking I was finally elevating my TV game and getting a tv that my PS5 deserved, but boy was I wrong. It seems that Vizio just doesn’t like PS5, I tried to use the PS5 to watch 4K Blu-rays and it just refuses to play in 4K. At first I thought I wasn’t using the right port and that I had 4K turned off in the settings but that wasn’t the case, it only ever showed up in 1080p which is disappointing. Switched to my Xbox one x and it was able to play in 4K no problem. So theres gotta be some bug with PS5 and Vizio products. Also the screen will randomly turn green and pink, or even black when I’m trying to play and I have to switch ports in order for it to stop. When I used the 4K 120 port, my games wouldn’t allow me to play even with 2.1 selected. On top of all that the tv with refuse to turn on at times and will have the white light on indicating that it’s on with a blank screen. It’s even more frustrating that the tv will randomly say no input detected and just turn off mid use with games or streaming, and not to mention the limited app selection they have. Image quality is great when it chooses to show up. It’s “easy” to use when it wants to be used But over all I am deeply regretting this purchase. I don’t know what happened to Vizio over the years but this has ruined my image of the company and I will not be doing business with them in the future.

Great Picture, Horrible Experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After using this TV for close to a year, I have very little nice to say about it. Picture quality is great, when it actually works properly. This TV consistently switches between HDR, SDR and Dolby Vision causing video playback to be temporarily disrupted. It never connects to HomeKit properly, and always resets the settings. 20% of the time when you go to turn on the TV, the indicator light comes on but the screen remains dark until you unplug it and plug it back in. Find another TV, only got this one so I could use my Best Buy card. Worst purchase from Best Buy.

Oled goodness for a fair price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great price for an OLED TV. The picture quality is stunning. Got this for our spare room that doesn't get used a lot but I seemed to be drawn to it. Love watching youtube on it. I do hate the Vizio Smartcast though. It is slow and too busy. For reference, these are the current TVs I own at the moment for comparison: Samsung 6 Series 70", Samsung The Frame 50 & 55, Samsung 65" Q90T. Pair it with the vizio sound bar 5.1 or (5.1.2 atmos is what i got) and you are set. Hope this helps.

Firmware is a nightmare otherwise excellent tv
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had a bunch of vizio TVs in the past and this is my first oled. When I brought the tv home I was under the impression I could play my ps5 with 4K 120 but that is not enabled at this time. I am also have issues where the tv will randomly turn itself off. It is having horrizontal lines every once in a while and If that is not enough the CEC only works half the time. Besides all the quirks, nothing can beat the picture quality to value the vizio oled brings. The blacks are superb and the visuals are spectacular. Picture quality is excellent. The audio of the tv is just average but if you spend money on a soundbar the experience is amazing. You would easily be able to enjoy this tv with or without a soundbar. The soundbar would just bring this tv to the next level.

A great deal at a great price!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent TV, and a great value if you can get it at the Black Friday week price! We purchased it a week ago, and we have been amazed at the quality of the OLED picture it offers in some of the settings (others need to be tweaked, and we will do that in the future.) We already owned a Sonos Beam sound bar and an Apple TV box, and are using those instead of the sound system that comes with the TV and Vizio’s SmartCast system. (I did try the sound system just to see whether I liked it, and it’s OK, but nowhere near as good as using the Sonos or another sound bar. We’ve not tried SmartCast yet, but I did hit the “Watch Free” button on the remote control and found that it’s actually Pluto TV, which I have on the Apple TV. Besides the picture quality, I really liked the system for organizing and hiding the HDMI and power cables. It’s a nice touch—and the height of the stand meant that I could put the Sonos Beam right in front of the TV and not block any of the picture. That’s important, I think. Also, both the Beam and the Apple TV integrated seamlessly with the TV right away. Finally, the stand was easy to assemble and it’s easy to adjust the settings for the picture, the sound and, I would guess, everything else. Assuming the TV is reliable over the long haul (we bought the Best Buy warranty just in case) this was truly a great deal! There is really nothing else that matches an OLED picture. We’re very glad we bought it!

4K/120HZ problem
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far So good, excellent picture quality. disappointed about the 4k/120hz option glitching out with my ps5/xbox. also im still tweaking the settings a bit but I feel like my samsung Q60 might have a better looking color representation than this one. only in gaming though which is strange to me considering this is advertised as partly being a gaming TV and their TIZEN software is better. But overall awesome quality watching movies. would have been 5 stars if not the 4K/120hz glitch

We really like our Vizio OLED TV
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We really like our Vizio OLED TV. The picture is great! We have a Sonos sound bar connected to it through HDMI, with wireless subwoofer and rear speakers . The only issues I have is sometimes I have to unplug the TV for a few seconds as it becomes unresponsive to the remote or has no audio often after changing the input or if it goes to sleep or is turned on and off quickly. It is easy to work around these issue but it is annoying.

Great TV but for the price of $900
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this tv on a special offer of $900 At that price is great tv. Watching TV shows or movies are great.... But playing video games on my Ps4 I've been getting weird green lines on the bottom of the TV but it goes out very quick. It's concerning though. Other than that I'm liking the stand is very unique. The ui is boring. I would like how Roku does it you get a theme home page and they A TONS of useful apps. I would not pay a dollar more for this tv at $900

It's a GO for me!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First and foremost I've been a Vizio fan for a very long time and never had any problems with my TVs, everything that I've ever purchased with the M or P series. I've seen all of the mixed reviews about this TV but because of my history with Vizio I figure out what try it out and test it for myself. I have a LG C1 and I absolutely love the picture on that TV and my experience with picture quality on this TV it's no different. Of course the color science is a little different so you may have to tweak it to your liking but I'm 100% satisfied in the picture that I get from this TV. I put this TV in my bedroom so I did purchase a small Vizio sound bar just to enhance the TV sound and I've had no problems with The Arc or the sound not coming on and immediately like some other people have had. I can't say that Vizio TVs recognize Vizio sound bars and vice versa so maybe they work better with their own products but I've haven't had any problems with intermitting sound issues. My only drawback to this TV and other Vizio TVs is smartcast! I really dislike it! If Vizio jumped on the Google platform they would kill it!

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The TV looks great. Firmware is the big issue
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The screen is good. The price is good. Only one thing is bad. The firmware is bad. I use analogy voice output to Bose's home theater system. Sometimes the sound is so small, I need to make my Bose volume maximum. it has noise from my speaker if volume maximum. The fiber connecter looks like not a stander spec. I can't use it. My old TV doesn't have this issue. This is why I use analogy voice output. Another one also is the firmware issue. I can't mirror my phone screen on the TV. I need to re-power my TV several times. All issues from firmware. if you have a budget issue, it is a good product.

Not Worth The Hassle. Time to Return
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to live this OLED but the bugs and hassle to constantly get the TV working are not becoming on a $1300 TV. When it works it’s great. The picture is fabulous. The recurring issues we experience after nearly 5 months are: 1. Not powering on from standby requiring the power to be switched off and on at the wall. 2. Random no signal msg and turning off to standby while watching TV shows. 3. Black or multi colored striped / pixelated screen following power on. Should the issues continue to reoccur I think we’ll be returning.

Not Your Next Gen Gaming Solution
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased specifically to play next gen gaming on PS5 and XBOX Series X... and I’m disappointed to say the least. After weeks of messing with setting and waiting for a solid firmware update to fix 4K 120hz handshake issues, I’m giving up on the Vizio OLED. VRR is still not compatible after multiple updates and audio during gaming is intermittent. I’m extremely pleased with the image quality but this is TV is no where near ready for next gen gaming. This tv is going back the BestBuy and I’ll be getting the LG like I should have from the beginning.

It's not perfect
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was going to dock a star for the occasional raised blacks I'm seeing on the right side of my panel but I'm going to give Vizio the benefit of the doubt on this one. They've acknowledged this as a problem and are saying it will be fixed with a firmware update. That said, even if they couldn't, this is still a great value. I've wanted an OLED for several years and Vizio has made it attainable. A great system is one that you don't want to walk away from and this set had me up late admiring various HDR test patterns, as the set handled them very well. Now granted, I have not used the competing LG or Sony OLEDs, but coming from midrange LCDs, this is a game changer and I highly recommend it.

Visio 55" OLED TV
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is for the TV itself when it is functioning properly. About 3 weeks after purchase and setup, which was relatively easy for 1 person, the TV ceased to turn on. I contacted Vizio, the manufacturer, and they set up an in-home repair, which saves a lot of trouble returning and replacing this unit. The TV itself is beautiful, the picture is the best I've never seen on a TV, and the menus are logically laid out and easy to use. I've connected a number of wired sources, which all worked fine, and an OTA indoor antenna as well for local channels. I don't watch much broadcast TV, but I do enjoy the occasional football game, and over-the-air broadcasts are WAY superior to either cable or satellite as long as you have a decent signal. (Cable and satellite companies compress the heck out of the signal to squeeze more channels in.) I also used Chromecast from my phone and computer, and it all worked just fine. The only thing I wish this model had that some smart TVs do have is an actual web browser, such as Chrome, so I could surf the web directly from the TV rather than having to hook my computer up to it, but that's a small detail. As long as the power issue doesn't become an ongoing thing, I'm totally pleased

THE VIZIO OLED is a GIANT KILLER
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Vizio Oled latest firm ware update 5.10.14.1-1 as far as I can tell eliminates the rise black levels during VRR (Variable Refresh Rate). VRR also works as intended with the frames rate and Refresh rate coinciding with one another. The Vizio on board speakers are low quality but for the average viewer can be tolerable if a sound bar is out of budget. For console gamers the input lag practically instantaneous and I find little difference between my Samsung CHG70 monitor and the Vizio Oled. The response time is on par with my monitor since the panel oled and naturally has a extremely quick response time. Lastly the percieved brightness is better than most oleds in the world but better than all oleds sold in US. The Vizio is only a buy if you value picture quality and gaming features only. Any other feature like a great motion, snappy/cohesive UI, and a good on board speaker system is absent from the VIZIO OLED. If you seek any of those features look elsewhere.
